That's because I'm guessing human mate selection doesn't have the systematic efficiency it does now. By efficiency I mean each female has babies with the best quality male she can get. Repeating highly efficient mate selection will eventually get rid of even the bad recessive genes. You can read resources about how bad recessive genes get selected out. I guess not everyone has a biology background, so it was obvious for me.

It's just basic principles of evolution. Eventually betas who don't breed will be a miniscule proportion. Only alphas pass on their genes.
