Instead of "Violence against women is wrong" why not "Violence is wrong"?

The law can change, we live in a democracy. Opinions matter in democracies. If enough people have my opinion we can put pressure on our representatives and change it. For example, in my country men are forced to join the army and women don't, I don't agree with that. That is just my opinion and I believe it matters.

It is not ok in your opinion, it is ok in my opinion. Why is that so hard to understand? This is just a matter of opinion and personal preference. I already said I don't agree with the age of consent, which is 18 and not 16 btw.

Stop saying he is a child. He is above 13, children are below 12. He is a teenager. A sexually active one.
/r/MensRights06/06/16 08:38 PM

Legaly speaking it was illegal, what I'm trying to say is that it shouldn't be illegal. Age of consent for sexual activities should be lower.

According to the logic of the comments, I was raped hundreds of times by my fiance (started having sex with her at 16 and she was above 18 at the time), My aunt is raped by her husband every day (he is her boss), and most of my family, friends, and people I know about have been raped at least once. I guess we do live in a rape culture by that logic, feminists were right.

Its sad to see MRAs behaving like feminists. I'm out of here. I'm tired of SJWs.

So teenagers who have sex with eachoter are raping eachoter?
/r/MensRights05/06/16 01:55 AM

As long as the person, teenager or not, is not being forced, either by violence or by other means, it doesn't matter who have sex with who. They are old enough to know what sex is, how to protect themselves against the consequences of sex, and are old enough to be biologically sexually active to naturally want to have sex. All I see here is 2 people who love eachother having sex and enjoying it
/r/MensRights05/06/16 01:50 AM

we let teenagers fuck, we allways did, but only with other teenagers. I just don't see a reason for this barrier betweeen above and below 18. And what is wrong with power being involved? As long as nobody is forcing the other person to have sex with them there is no rape. And no, trading sex for grades is not rape either, its obviously against the school policies, but its not rape. All you guys are doing is putting sex on a pedestal as if it was something that had consequences and shit. As long …

Sorry but if the sexually active teenager (not an asexual child) wants to have sex with an older person who wants to have sex with him, if no acts of violence take place I just can't call it rape. No one is being harmed.

So they aren't feminists. That is just a semantic game Didn't I already list about half a dozen examples? Warren Farrel, Sommers herself, Cathy Young, Donna Laframboise, Daphne Patai, Erin Pizzey...? I was not talking about you. I said that I was just making an assumption, and therefore, my opinion on the subject has almost no support. the men are just not wanting anything to do with women any more increasingly This event has been around for some time now, never seen any correlation, nor positiv…

Obviously there are not or we would see them doing exactly that. That's never even going to remotely happen. They aren't there. You realize that there are lots of feminists in the MRM right? You realize that those feminists usually don't call themselves feminists anymore right? You realize that you are immersed in an environment where people love to share feministic bullshit, and they never share material that said otherwise right? You generalize too much dude. You don't see that you are fucking…

Plus there's another problem with your approach which is that feminism needs to be seen to be a bad thing if society is to avoid a huge sex war. Killing feminism is a way of dealing with the problem, specially if you pretend that all feminists are crazy bitches. But this is not the only way, and I'm not sure if it's the best way. This is a movement that is facing hard criticism for a while now and it is very enduring. Killing it is very unrealistic to me. In my opinion healing it might be way ea…

My basis of thinking that most people thought well of feminism despite what it does was based on the poor assumption of: Premise 1: "The mainstream media is clearly pro-feminism" Premise 2: "The general public usually don't question the mainstream media" Conclusion: "The general public is pro-feminism" Those pools indicate that one of my premises is false.

I'm not worried about the current feminists, they are probably already lost. I'm worried about the people who will become the next generation of feminists. Again, they can hide all they want, as long as we call them out when they speak outside their little bubble. Using the name of feminism to call out feminists is very powerful. As an MRA you are an easy target, they can just call you misogynistic and use every ad-hominum they can find and it will work on the majority of the population. But the…

They don't need to even show up, they don't need to cooperate, they have no power there. I sent the invitation and most of them are afraid of coming because people might disagree with them (that is very telling for me).

It still is. I'm not saying that feminism ever fought for equality, but people think it does, and that is why it is associated with equality of genders. When people want to fight for equality they always seek feminism first and that is dangerous, because people are using a name associated with equality to do some awful shit. If we use the power of the name of feminism to denounce the feminists who are not being honest, that is a really big deal because people will finally fucking listen. That is…

Well, I got censored a lot by them, so I guess it is not that extreme. If I end up creating another rotten branch I'll happily erase the subreddit.
/r/MensRights28/12/14 04:28 PM

Agreed but this is a really recent phenomenon. Feminism is still associated to equality by the vast majority of people and the mainstream media in general. Adopting the name doesn't do anything to solve the echo chamber, I agree, but the lack of censorship does.

This is true in theory, but it is not that it can't use a gender neutral name, I could easily use a name like Egalitarianism or some variation, I just don't want to. The power on the feminism name is undeniable, and right now it is in some very nasty hands. I just want to use the name the same way that most people think it means. I also want feminists to get out of the echo chamber and talk to people who disagree with them, they will only be able to do that under the "feminism" label.

Maybe you are right, but I think that it might be worth a try. There is a lot of potential in that name. I'm not sure that it creates a bias for woman automatically, I think that the members will be the one to decide if this bias will exist. If there are MRAs there to keep that from happening, I don't see how it could happen.

People still associate the name with gender equality. It is even the dictionary definition of the word feminism. Even if we assume that feminists never fought for equality, most people still think they do, and that is what makes the name powerful.
/r/MensRights28/12/14 12:28 PM
0

Hum... Here is the reason I don't think the gendered name is the cause of the problem. Yes the name might attract people who only want to make things better for woman, even the MRM name does that. But without censorship good the people who fight for equality and reason will be able to respond to those people and keep the movement pure. I think the feminism movement only became like that because of censorship and the "echo chamber" effect. But who knows, maybe the name is the root of the problem.…

Yes, I understand your concerns and I have it as well. But since the name "Feminism" has a lot of power and it is usually believed to be about gender equality by most people around the globe, I think it is worth using, even though the name itself is kinda sexist. The upsides can't be ignored, most people who want to fight for gender equality seek the label feminism, and I ratter have a feminism movement that fights for equality than feminism that claims to fight for equality but fights for privi…

Could you guys also tell me some good locations where people could be interested? I'm banned from the main feminists subeditors (for disagreeing I guess, who knows), and I didn't found many places to find people interested in this kind of discussion. I think that as long as they disguise their agenda under the label of "equality" they will be extremely dangerous. I would love to see more research done on the topic, but I guess is not that easy. The internet in general is turning more and more against feminists, but other types of media still are largely in favor to any proposal they make since they are afraid of being labeled misogynists. I need to do more research before spreading information on the topic, but I think that this is something…

I saw the "No posts about bannings by other moderators (too common, not relevant to topic of "rights")" rule, but I thought this was about getting banned from this specific subreddit. My first hope was to find out if I did indeed broke any rule, and if I was being banned for a valid reason or not. The best case scenario is: "There was a rule that I broke and that is why I got banned". It hurts me to know that feminism was in such hands and I was hoping to be proved wrong.

I'm up for starting a new subreddit for feminism that encourage discussion and different points of view, If someone could help me out it would be awesome. Maybe I should start a thread here on the MRM subreddit (closest thing to old school feminism that I know of) recruiting people to the task of reviving this dead (but useful) horse.

I just don't like the idea of such a powerful and respected movement being used to spread lies and misinformation. It should either be revealed for what it really is, or reverted to their old school state. And I thought that reverting it would be possible. I guess I was wrong.

I am already an MRM member, and (in theory) most MRM members are also Feminists (Old school feminists). To me they are exactly the same thing. Both fight for gender equality (in theory). The main difference is that Feminism has a much powerful name to the outside world because the things it accomplished in the past. Feminism is more respected and have more political power to accomplish their goals. The sad thing is that they are using this power to some really twisted shit and the feminists that…

If its true it is really sad. What can I do to reverse this situation? Is there an environment where people are free to discuss ideas without fear of being banned or something like that? The name of feminism is getting dirtier and dirtier, and I don't see how to fight this trend. If people keep using the name of feminism to support those absurd ideas people will start to think that feminism is about something else. I'm from Belo Horizonte, and I don't see how the military police would have something to do whith this. People that are forced to sign up for the military are not used in the military police, they just have to train and stuff. The woman that you see are the ones that willingly signed up.

Female. I think my case is a little diferente tham most people here because I'm bissexual and I tried making a sex change witch got denied. The reasons I will list below are only my personal opinions, I'm pretty sure that most people dissagree with most of them but still this is how I see the world. But if you are fighting for equality why make men's issues a higher priority than woman's issues? Isn't that a form of unnecessary discrimination?

But why not make sure all double standards don't go unnoticed instead of focusing on the double standards that injure men? And I agree with you about the feminists.
