Software dev here, Pay is lower at startups but this is closing fast. Startups have a high payoff at the end (provided they succeed). Big corps might have more salary and benefits up front but without the huge pay off. Also, Corps tend to be hiring alot of H1 Visas so they are bringing down their costs which means you're competing with lower priced workers. Aim for a startup if you can. Its a much more lucrative scene and you can always work at a big company.

The standards for new troopers require them to be able to run 300 meters in one minute and 17 seconds, do 13 pushups, clear a 14-inch vertical leap, and run one and one-half miles in 17 minutes and 48 seconds.
