For a lot of women, sexual violence, misogyny, abuse, etc. are stuff that we’ve actually dealt with in our lives, so most women aren’t looking to engage with people who deny or downplay those experiences. While petty crime should be addressed alongside more severe offenses, my main issue lies in our method of doing so. An emphasis on incarceration as the sole deterrent for criminals is arguably insufficient, and in fact, may paradoxically increase the likelihood of re-offending (in our case, focusing solely on attacking individual feminists will lead to more misandry, not less.) I don’t believe that subs like these should center class, I just think that it’s important to approach gender/identity issues through a class conscious lens. I prefer Menslib as a whole, but their discussions are often constrained by censorship, and its adherence to bourgeois feminism. IMO, the left’s willingness to question hegemony and the status quo is one of its greatest assets, so it’s unfortunate how dogmatic and tribalistic we are once it comes to our own ideologies. There’s a line between fair and necessary criticism of feminism, and conflating all women with misandry and the movement. No ideology is exempt from criticism, but as it stands, this subreddit is more like a circlejerk for bashing feminism than a movement to actually advocate for men.
