Here in the UK, they would have to be assessed by a psychiatrist, if the GP/Doctor thinks they are a risk to themselves or others and refuse to cooperate then calling the police is one of the only options available. The police would just take him to a acute ward where a psychiatrist would assess them within an hour (ideally) or so and then decide whether meds and further assessment would be needed or if he would need to stay in the ward for his/others safety. 'Coincidental' it all happens during 'Movember' & International Men's Day, when they had precisely ZERO programmes covering that. Ironic how men can be jailed for not paying to support BBC. Male 17 has consensual sex with girl 15. And CCTV disproves rape claim. A judge isn't in the position to rewrite the law and has a set of rules to follow. If she was actually judging the case then this is a different story, but if all she's doing is sentencing then what do you expect her to do? If he had pleaded guilty before getting to face a jury then she isn't there to decide whether he is guilty or not but to decide his sentence based on the fact he's already admitted to a crime.
