There are women who engage in casual, because they enjoy it. Why else would they do it? But we're getting far off topic. I think we can leave this as agree to disagree.

So of course you want to have sex! That’s what good sex is all about – desire, connection, and appreciation for another human being. Yes, it can also be about love, but it doesn’t have to be. The barrier the widow faces in having sex is her own internal struggle with grief and guilt. To find a sexual partner would be fairly trivial once she has processed her grief and given herself permission to move on. She can then enjoy the positive traits that come with the experience (desire, connection, ap…

That's what this discussion is about though? The widow in the article wanted to have sex. If you're traditional and don't believe in having casual sex, that's fine. Although, both women and men turn the lack of sex into anger and frustration. Guys who have rejected girls know the experience. The difference is that most women can satiate their sexual desires fairly easily, so they're not represented much in the discourse.

I don't think that's the narrative that men have. Rather it's the frustration that there is no simple way to satisfy the need for intimacy and human desire in the same way women have. Consider this hypothetical. If an average woman just wanted to have no strings attached sex, what advice would you give her to get that? Assume that the sex is consensual and pleasurable. On the other hand, what advice would you give an average man in that exact same scenario?

Average unremarkable body, face, height, etc. Not rich or have any status Have limited life, dating or relationship experience. Struggle socially None of these are indicators of relationship quality beyond shallow, short term pleasure traits. We can check by reversing all of them to see how it would effect relationship quality. Attractive body, face, height, etc. Rich and have high status Abundant life, dating, and relationship experience. Socially graceful All of these are nice traits to have i…

If there was a societal shift to women being proactive in initiating romantic interactions, I believe that would also result in a decrease in the level of "slut-shaming" in society. The concept depicts women as passive entities that men act upon, and uses misogynistic analogies like "lock and key". If women were more seen to be taking initiative and pursuing the men they wanted, then they would be viewed as having more agency in dating, and the "slut-shaming" concept breaks down.

That response is pseudo-sociological garbage that acts as if history began in 1950's middle class America. It puts all the onus and agency on men, while depicting women as passive creatures that are just smart, well-intentioned, and discerning. No, women are just as shitty and good as men. Historical period and location matter for context. Committed relationships becoming less common in developed countries in the modern era is not due to women having more capacity to be happy alone compared to m…

I think men and women view accomplishments similarly, but the manosphere guys make it seem as if men don't care at all. If you met a man who you weren't attracted to, but found out he was a doctor, would you then find him attractive? I'm assuming you wouldn't. But if you already found him attractive, finding out he's a doctor [or whatever other accomplishment you hold in high regard] would make him more attractive to you. The same holds true for guys. Perhaps the difference lies in that the perc…

The acceptable number depends on the man. Men who are only able to have sex in a committed relationship will be far less likely to want to date a woman who has had casual sex regularly. A man who has had plenty of casual sex is likely not to care as much. Then there is everyone in between. But perhaps you're asking rather, "Why do men care so much about n-count?" I believe the reason is the way heterosexual sex is portrayed in our culture. Men taking the lead, penetrating her, dominating her, us…

It's about dominance. Let's be frank, people in western countries aren't having tantric, slow, measured sex. There's the aspect of power and domination from the man, the catharsis a woman feels by allowing herself to be fucked. Now obviously there are degrees to this, and not all sex is like that. But what man wants the details of how his girlfriend's friend fucked her? Why would he want to be around a man who did that to the woman he deeply cares about? It's also not even really about sex. If t…

Any problems that men have are not caused by "women". The problems men face are either at the hands of individual men/women or are structural problems that emerged in society. You're doing exactly what I said in the previous paragraph, framing "men" and "women" as separate classes that act upon each other. That's not how reality works.

I think the ubiquity of modern dating apps where physical looks take priority over everything else and the near infinite number of choices led to this dating market. It's a bit like choosing a restaurant to go to based on best decor and aesthetic without considering how the food tastes until after you get there.

I see the way you structure your arguments is to take whatever existing issue woman have and frame it in a "men oppressing women" way, where the class of "men" represents society as a whole, and therefore anyone one that falls into the class of "men" is accountable for the oppression women face. On the other hand, any issue that largely affects men is not as important to you, because you view the class of "men" as oppressing themselves, since your worldview projects the class of "men" as represe…

Most men are attracted to that type of older woman. You are assuming that women as a collective have the same self-interests. Women are just as varied as men and have competing interests amongst themselves. It's only been fairly recently that "women" have been classified as a ubiquitous class that have common drives. Women have historically held more in common with the men of their same social class than women of other classes.

I disagree with your premise. "Men" haven't created any definitions of femininity, it's segments of society that define them as a whole. If one segment paints femininity as “vulnerable, docile, submissive", this does not mean that men as a whole created that definition. There are women and men that played a part in assigning those traits. The same goes for "empathy, patience, sensuality, thoughtfulness". Men and women (society) contributed to aligning those traits with femininity. The expectatio…

As an example, take applying to jobs vs recruiting. A person who has a lot of recruiters reaching out to her has power in that she has choice in the employer she ends up having. The recruiter is taking an active role to initiate contact. Whereas if someone is applying to jobs, he may have to apply to dozens of places before getting an interview. The job-hunter must initiate contact, which allows the employer to choose amongst the applications sent to them. "Passive" should not imply weakness. In…

As all things, it depends. A young man doesn't want to be the guy waiting until after she's had several casual sex partners. The ideal scenario is having casual sex when you're young and then finding a woman you can build a life and family with once you're older.

Yeah, there is a more nuanced discussion to be had about sex. The psychology of being the "penetrator" vs "penetrated" and why that's the common way of describing heterosexual sex, rather than "enveloper" vs "enveloped". I believe part of it stems from men more commonly being the ones to pursue and initiate sex, whereas women are often choosing from the options presented to them. The men's role is viewed as active, the women's as passive. All of the things you stated are true regarding how women…

The reason is because in most of society, it's far easier for women to find sexual partners compared to men. So when some women are more open to having sex more quickly, she is "easier" to have sex with. Men, on the other and, are all considered "easy" in any context for a woman to have sex with.

To be completely honest with you, I think it would suck to be in your position. Being a virgin in your 30s probably feels isolating and makes you wonder what's so wrong with you that you ended up here. You may feel like you missed out on a lot of important life experiences, and when people act as if your situation is not that big of a deal, it goes completely against how you feel. Most people don't have issues with your example. The problem arises when some women disparage a 25 year old guy dating a 19 year old, because "she can't imagine dating someone that young" or "what could they possible have in common, they're at two different life stages".

I would argue that all the women you mentioned in one of your paragraphs (Kylie Minogue, Monica Belucci, Mila Jovovich, Ivana Miličević) would have no issue attracting teenage guys and guys in their 20s even today in their 40s and 50s.

Another reason it matters to a lot of guys is because most relationships are monogamous. A guy can't increase the number of sexual partners he has once he's in a monogamous relationship that he wants to last. So if a woman has had far more sexual partners and wants monogamy from him, he won't ever be able to experience the same breadth of sexual experience that she did.

This phenomenon doesn't exist in a vacuum. The people most likely to be in single-parent households are single heterosexual women. Saying "a man isn't necessary" is pointless, because a good father is the only person who could take on the role in households with only single mothers. There aren't high numbers of LGBT households that have single parents, because they're unlikely to have an unplanned pregnancy in the first place.

You're saying a man isn't necessary. But who else is going to take on the role of a second parent with heterosexual women? I don't think LGBT households are the issue at hand here.

What's your point? Heterosexual women aren't going to start partnering with other women. We can't just give enough money to fatherless households to fully replace that income. Society can't provide socialization or affection that replaces a second parent. Not to mention the things boys and girls need to learn from their father about how to navigate the world. I think a better analogy is women who complain about "pretty privilege" but will never be attractive enough to get those benefits. Women who are pretty and beautiful can get absurd benefits with very little effort. There are a confluence of factors. You can't boil it down to just men on average being physically stronger than women. Other factors include women being the gender that has a 100% certainty that a child is hers, women having lower testosterone levels which leads to less aggression, contraception not being as reliable for most of human history, pregnancy making women reliant on others for a period of time, etc. We also often miss that even though the group of people that hold most of the social, …

I disagree with the guy above. This situation parallels a FWB situation where the girl wants more and tries to do girlfriend stuff with the guy without explicitly saying she wants to be more than FWB. The initiator has to communicate that they want more from the other person. You're not in the wrong for accepting his ride offer, and he's in the wrong for communicating to offer a ride as a friend, rather than as an expression of his romantic interest.

The hypocrisy comes from wanting to portray herself as what she perceives as his view of "gf material" (a girl who doesn't have sex on the first date) vs her actions (sleeping with a guy that she doesn't view as bf material on the first date). She is intentionally trying to frame herself as someone who doesn't participate in the behavior she already did. That is the hypocrisy: acting in a way to mislead the guy.

Sex with prostitutes tended not to be socially acceptable and was done in relative secrecy. Those men were still were pushed to find wives and be in committed relationships. Though in modern times, men and women can have sex outside of committed relationships. So men and women aren't pressured to get married young, men don't need to sneak off to a brothel, and people can hold off commitment until their 30s or 40s, which is especially common in areas that have high levels of casual sex (usually b…

Obviously women are going to hold off on sex if they want a relationship in order to abide by the rules that men created. Just want to point out that men didn't create these rules. Societies created them, which are made up of both women and men. In fact, I would argue that these rules benefit women in relationships more, since it incentivized men to seek out relationships. Now that sex outside of relationships is normal and not taboo, fewer men feel the need to commit until they've "sowed their …

I'm speaking of mindset, not material reality. Do you believe women are desperately searching for their next sexual partner the same way many men are? Also, it would be fairly trivial for a woman to sleep with one of her male acquaintances, which removes much of the fears you mention. A man trying to sleep with one of his female acquaintances would likely not have as easy a time.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/12/21 07:09 AM

I believe it comes from a mindset of sexual abundance vs sexual scarcity. Most women never experience feeling sexual scarcity since it takes very little effort to find a sexual partner (sexual abundance). Whereas it takes far more effort for a man to find a sexual partner (sexual scarcity). If a man has few sexual partners, and meets a woman that sleeps with him right away, he is not going to want to commit to her, since she has likely had far more sexual partners and experiences than him. Altho…

Who decided these social rules? Makes no sense that you can literally fuck someone, but god forbid you hold hands unless you want to commit to her. Fucking is the most intimate action you can do with someone. Humans are allowed to do whatever they want as long as its consensual, and nothing is reserved for certain people anymore. That's the society we've created, and we have to live in it.

I think you're trying to shoehorn the idea that "women are just the same as men". Those scenarios you mentioned are outliers and not common at all, except for those that are chronically online where sensationalism and pornography is the norm. But that's why it's an attractive trait, right? It's a positive trait that is difficult to achieve, which communicates your competence as a human being to others. That competence would likely translate to other areas of life. Being a good follower is also a trait that is good to have, but I don't think women are attracted to it. There are men who want relationships with one woman, but you have to sift through the masses to find them, and they're usually off the dating market by their mid-thirties. That's the difficultly women have when it comes to dating and relationships. You're looking at it from a female perspective as to why a woman would want to have sex with a bunch of different men. Most women don't understand male sexuality. From the onset of puberty to sometime in the mid to late twenties, the vast majority of men have sex drives that generate the desire to sleep with as many women as possible. The quality of guys is probably lacking, because there's no filter for those kind of traits. When you meet someone in person, it's often through friends of friends or shared social activity. There's a subtle screening process that has already occurred in people's minds when they meet someone that way. With online dating, a person has to convey who they are with a couple pictures (sometimes even with just a single picture) and a bio. That's far more difficult to do, and those that have physically…

Throughout human history most women haven’t had a choice in who they fucked. That's a common misconception. In reality, women had far more power historically than people realize. I don't know how this meme than women had no sexual agency in the past spread.

Men hit on younger women because they find youth to be a very attractive trait. It's not the only trait that men find attractive though. Why are the women here always say that they're "disgusted by the old men" when describing men in their 50s, 40s, and sometimes even 30's. You realize by calling those men disgusting by virtue of their age, you're calling their female counterparts disgusting as well due to their age? Women in their 30's, 40's, 50's, even 60's can be beautiful if they take care o…

Hmm, I think this opinion sounds all well and good by itself. But would you say men's feelings are valid as well? Men who consider themselves red pill or black pill? Men who have certain feelings about "slutty" women? Men who have feelings about a woman's place in society? I would say that many of the feelings of the men in those examples are not valid.

I agree, a lot of people see this societal phenomenon in black and white, either blaming men or blaming women. If it were that simple, the fix would be fairly easy by just having people adjust their own behavior, and we wouldn't be having this problem.

Sex requires human-interaction, which is something young people want less of. Netflix, youtube, tiktok, reddit, etc are all risk-free rewards for the brain with very little effort required to acquire. Couple that with Coronavirus to justify to oneself that avoiding human interaction is a benefit to society, you have the perfect storm.

The question one should ask is whether sexual harassment and abuse is perpetuated by the majority of men, since the majority of women have experienced it. Or is it a small minority of men who are repeat, lifetime offenders? My money is on the latter, but unfortunately there is no simple way to distinguish these men, other than the most obvious cases. society has a lesser need to support and enforce mate selection, pair bonding, and family/community development. I agree, these things are neglected because they don't increase GDP in the short term. In the long term, the mental illness, population cliff, and atomized individuals not wanting to contribute to a society will lead to significant GDP decreases. Come on, we both know that's not what slut-shaming is. Slut shaming causes women to internalize shame about their own sexual desires. Though I understand your interpretation is meant to be an attack on some of the men that frequent this subreddit based on their viewpoints. But yes, there are…

I think its functionality was more useful when we were living in tribes. Or maybe it's a byproduct of social conditioning. Who knows? Either way, I think a lot of men assume women have satisfied their own sexual exploration, so they end up feeling like they have to catch up with sexual experience before entering a committed relationship with one girl. I think that's partly why so many men have a hard time committing in their 20s and 30s.

I think men and women view this topic inherently differently. Of course, it doesn't apply to every man or every women, but it seems women don't care about body count on average, whereas more men care on average. It's likely due to male sexual scarcity and female sexual abundance. If men had the choice to have sex with as many partners as they liked whenever they liked, men would probably not care about body count either. The first two points disproportionately effect black American men, which has led to an interesting gender dynamic in the black community. The percentage of black American men that make suitable partners is significantly smaller than the percentage of black American women. Understandable, but I think you acknowledge that it wasn't sex that was difficult to find, but a boyfriend. And likewise now, casual sex would be fairly easy for you to find. And I think that's the discrepancy, for many guys, sex and relationships are both difficult to find at any age. Hence the insecurity that emerges from a sexual scarcity mindset.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/10/21 06:00 PM

Sexual scarcity vs sexual abundance is also the reason too, I imagine. Your lack of partners was more or less a choice, so you're within a mindset of sexual abundance. You know you could download a dating app, go to a bar, or contact a male acquaintance and have sex fairly easily. For men, sexual scarcity is the more common mindset, since having sex requires more time and effort, if sex is going to be had at all with that time and effort.

Yes, I don't think men know what it feels like to receive unwanted sexual attention at that age, so it's difficult for us to empathize since we often don't know about it unless a woman tells us what she experienced at that age. I think the difference is in male and female sexuality, as well as the change in gender dynamics between men and women over the past few decades. You don't see a lot of 30 year old women attracted to 21 year old men, whereas the opposite happens quite often. It seems men and women view this from two different perspectives. I think women are approaching it from a perspective of sexual abundance, whereas men are viewing it from a perspective of sexual scarcity. It's not shallow, physical attraction is important in a relationship. Women on average don't find youth an attractive trait, whereas men do. It's not the only trait men find attractive, and an individual 40 year old woman can be more attractive than an individual 25 year old woman, but on average younger woman are more physically attractive. That doesn't take away from the positive traits older woman have, which likely is more maturity and confidence in herself.

The dehumanizing aspect is that it waters down a human being to a number between 1-10 that is based solely on his or her physical characteristics without accounting for any other traits. I suppose you could incorporate some mental/emotional traits as well with the 1-10 comparisons, but that's also extremely subjective. Those metrics don't account for a person's smile or laugh, the way they engross themselves in a book, their kindness and compassion, etc. That's why I call it dehumanizing.

I find that to be a human problem. Women are just as incapable or unwilling to see men as human beings. That's where the male disposability trope comes in. Men view other men in the same way. Likewise, women have also enforced black and white thinking, labeling some women as whores who shouldn't be a part of her society and others as wonderful women who follow the rules and social morays of her society to the tee.

Then all he has to do is to meet the women who find him attractive enough to have casual sex with? The majority of guys aren't good looking enough, don't have the social skills to meet strangers, or a broad enough social circle to find women that want to have casual sex with them. It's not only based on attractiveness. Most men also have to make the first move, and they usually don't want to come across as a creep, so they end up not initiating when it comes to casual sex.

If he wasn't viewed as a viable casual sex partner and can only enjoy sex and intimacy after displaying commitment in a relationship, he is physically/socially less attractive than the men his partner has been with before him. Of course this overshadows all of the nuances and complexities of human relationships. That being sa…

Yeah, a lot of the issues espoused here are first-world problems. There are people dying in war-torn countries, people starving, people dying of treatable diseases, sex-trafficking, quasi-slavery, etc. Not being able to get dates with girls, a guy just using you for sex, having to pay for the first date, catcalling, feeling lonely, etc. are all luxury problems of a society that has solved most of its subsistence problems. It's mostly a bunch of people in rich countries complaining about their ps…

It is more common and acceptable in the broad society, but from my perspective, men in younger generations seem to disparage dating single mothers more than other groups. However, I could be wrong and young men are mostly fine dating women with children.

That may very well be possible. The percentage of young men that would date single mothers has remained relatively constant or even increased in the past few decades? Around where I grew up, divorce was extremely rare, as was stepparents. It was almost taboo to talk about, so I didn't find it normal growing up. Though it has become more common and socially acceptable. I don't think the terms "cuck" or "cuckoldry" are used exclusively within the RP communities. I believe the etymology of it's cur…

I think there's something wrong with calling a man who fathers and abandons a child a "Chad", which implies that he is genetically and socially superior to other men. Although, I take your point that the consensus among men that dislike single mothers is the perspective that she made a bad choice in a man and the potential resentment toward the possibility of taking on the responsibility of another man who is a worse person. Another post on here categorized single mothers into three categories, …

I don't think that "stepmom porn" is a major contributing factor to the change in young men's views on single mothers and the men that date/marry them. That may have partially contributed to young people's view on step parents, but it's single mothers that seem to be the main target of vitriol, not single fathers.

Good point, the ability to compare potential dating prospects has never been as easy as it is now. The abundance mentality that comes with the possibility to connect with everyone within your city lessens the willingness to work through difficult issues, which, as you described, pushes dating to become a more consumer-friendly commodified activity rather than a profound social dance between two humans.

The comment was, that this was how it was supposed to be all along. There was an AskReddit post yesterday "If suddenly every woman wanted to have sex with you, what would you do on day 1?". This is such an absurd question for men, but it is the near reality for many women. A significant percentage of men will have sex with a woman if she wanted it to happen. I'm sorry that you had an abusive father, but that's not what I'm referring to. I'm referring to a woman who stays in an abusive relationship, because she feels she has no agency to leave, and then blames men as a whole for the situation she ended up in.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/21 08:05 AM
16

Here's something that I see more commonly in women. Not taking agency in their lives. A lot of women encounter problems and bemoan about why this happened to them without taking responsibility for their own actions that led to that outcome. Examples include not being in a job they want, being in an abusive relationship, having children with no father in the picture, etc.

Honestly, we probably need to discourage internet usage. The average person is spending an excessive amount of time online (including those of you who peruse this subreddit), which has led to a far more anti-social society. We also need to encourage men to approach women more in person and accept rejection politely. Also, encourage women not to feel upset or anxious about a random man approaching them in a romantic way. Basically more in-person social interactions. We seemed to have regressed as…

Oh yeah, there are definitely those types here. I think that the hyperbole stems from genuine pain and frustration in their dating and relationships, and they use these boards as a place to vent and find validation in their personal experiences. I don't think a lot of it is particularly helpful, but there are seeds of truth in some of the ideas espoused here. There is something wrong with the way dating, relationships, and marriage has emerged in our 21st century society.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/21 10:11 PM

If I can clarify, I believe the idea is that if you take two people who are equal in all things, except one person is a man and the other a woman, the woman will have an easier time finding dates and entering relationships than the man. However, this is not to say that women have it easier in life overall.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/21 06:28 PM

You know how a lot of insecure women base their self worth on how attractive they are? Which usually is based on their physical body, since male sexuality is very visual. The corollary to that is insecure men basing their self worth on how many women are attracted to him. And unless you're a celebrity or have women constantly asking you out, the main way to find out how attractive you are is to see how many women you can potentially sleep with, since female sexuality is more subtle. Also, just l…

The phrase "give a chance" irks me, because that assumes that the person being "given the chance" needs to perform in a certain way to be worthy of dating. I don't like commenting on the attractiveness of individuals, but I've always regarded Adele as pretty, dresses very well for her body, and has a feminine fat distribution.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/08/21 08:36 PM
2

I think there are attractive overweight women and unattractive overweight women. The attractive ones tend to have less fat on their face and a more feminine distribution of fat. For example, Adele in 2019 or Ashley Graham. Whereas another overweight woman could be the same height and even weigh less, but have an unfortunate fat distribution and be considered unattractive. I don't think it's so black and white.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/08/21 06:53 PM

I think as far as attraction goes, best case scenario is indifference. It certainly doesn’t add to a woman’s attractiveness rating. Not speaking of you specifically, but the way you characterize what men find attractive. You said that men don't find intelligence attractive, and sure there are men that don't, but those men don't represent the entire male gender.

Except having a job is a positive trait, whereas acting purposefully dumb to attract the types of men that don't like intelligent women is just strange. Men aren't a homogenous group that only like one type of women, whether it's physical or mental traits. I think you've been internalizing too much Red Pill/Incel content. Australia has a single-payer system and the many people have private insurance as well for not just non-essential coverage. Obviously the public system is cheaper, but it's also lower quality, which is why people still pay for private insurance.

What aspect of single payer healthcare is socialist? If the government was also the sole provider of healthcare, then that would be socialist. I don't think women have it easy finding a LTR, but it is easier for young women. They're dating pool is much larger than young men's, since women tend to date men their age or older, whereas men tend to date their age or younger. In your twenties, this leads to far more options for women than men, but it evens out over time in regards to LTR (even older women should have an easy time finding non-LTR sex compared to any age man). Just because those examples are government enforced doesn't mean they were voluntary. Many people in those types of dating structures are coerced or socially pressured to enter relationships that the society at large sees fit even if they don't want to themselves, both men and women. I would argue that even Western society has prescribed norms that we are pressured to follow, even amongst the most progressive circles.

I disagree on your economic points. Education and healthcare are highly regulated and government involved, and I don't think anyone is satisfied with its current structure. We haven't recovered since the 2008 economic collapse. Global economic growth has stagnated. How would you know, are you an immigrant or the child of immigrants? My parents are immigrants, I know many people who are the children of immigrants here in the US. Culture changing is inevitable, even if you have zero immigration. I think you're overthinking it. Just because someone watches a tv show, it doesn't mean they want to live it out. Many women watched Dexter, doesn't mean they want a benevolent serial killer as their boyfriend. I enjoyed the first couple seasons of Game of Thrones, doesn't mean I want to live in a medieval fantasy world. At the end of the day, it's a story about sex and romance that needs drama to create a plot. Why would anyone want to watch a show about the boring daily life of a happy couple?
