Well I can tell you what they did to me as a biz owner. Took all of my company credit card spend, added it to my W2 income and claimed that was my income. All of the credit card spend was legit biz expenses that could easily be traced back to vendors. They claimed I was making 600k. I never thought I’d beg for forensic accounting, but did at that point. So subpoena her biz records, make wild claims and get her to pay you. It will only be temporary, but the squeeze is real.

This was also my final straw.

Unfortunately, you can’t trust this. Due to major medical issues I put all assets in ex’s name and all debt in mine in an attempt to provide for the family in what looked like a likely death scenario for me. I lived. She said 50/50 too, right until her first appointment with an attorney. Unless your case is very rare…this will be a war…prepare for it. Try to take emotion out of it. This is a math problem now. Focus on your long term monthly obligations (liability) to her and how to minimize that…

This is good for you. Think back about how her mom and her attorney proceeded with that dissolution. It will give you the start of playbook for your divorce. Don’t be angry, but don’t be nice.

I was never a guy who journaled...honestly I thought the idea was lame. I found it was very freeing to write down what I wanted to tell her, but never deliver it. It got it out of my system, but I still maintained control by not sending it to her. It might help you.

You are not a victim. The circumstances might not be fair, but you're a man - you're a father and you will step up and act accordingly. You no longer rely on her for anything. You document everything - when she leaves, when she comes home, when she cooks and who takes the kids to the doctor's appointments. Let her slip back into her 20's when she had no responsibilities. You will close the gap for the kids. If your state isn't 50/50 custody...this is going to get you there. Regardless, your kids…

If she doesn't like conflict, there's a good chance she will hire someone to solve that conflict for her.

You glorify God with your behavior and how you act in this season. People are watching you. On the other side of this it will make more sense to you. You’re stuck in the forest and can only see the tall trees around you. Eventually, you will see the whole forest.

You need to write down what you like about her TODAY. Not who she was or what you had, but TODAY.

Hard to get custody that way though.

Hang in there man. Eventually, it will be over and you can rebuild. At least that’s what I repeat to myself daily. In year 3 on my end.

Fortunately, my judge is a former prosecutor. He saw through her BS during the TRO - even though in my jurisdiction I couldn’t present the video at that hearing - just screenshots in my declaration.

My EX finally went silver bullet in February. Thank God I followed this groups advice and had recording devices on me at all times. Video showing I never stood up from a barstool in the kitchen makes domestic violence a hard sell. BUT even my therapist admitted he was having trouble with the dissonance of the man he knows me to be and the picture she paints me to be.

You are mixing topics. Typically this is done to obfuscate arguments or by weak men who operate on feelings. You cheating is not germane, because you stated you left due to abuse. Show me the scripture that says you can divorce your wife for divorce in your faith. Shit or get off the pot. Practice your faith - or don’t.

If you are a strict fundamentalist evangelical as your “conundrum” implies, your question is moot. There is only one valid reason for divorce and remarriage under your belief system and it is infidelity. Divorcing outside of that makes you an adulterer even if you remarry. You already tossed your faith when you started the divorce process. Pick a side and then find better counsel on that side, because right now you are operating on feelings - and that’s not a good guidepost.

So far I’ve only used it to respond to her emails or texts. :)

While I appreciate the best mm, I would seriously consider editing or deleting your comment. Too much false DV claims go around to have lines like this in your history.

I have been doing it for almost 2 years. It was my greatest leverage. Relationship with my son (14) has never been better. He sees who is a parent. I’ve found dramatic healing, total indifference to her. House was put on the market yesterday. Looking forward to ending this season, but will be sad to see my son 50%.

Tax debt can IF filings were always on time, just no payments were made. Late filings and employer taxes cannot be discharged.

I was not a naive person and I wasn’t living the “Christian Life” a year before meeting her. I didn’t marry her, because she was the first woman who would touch me. I turned my life around and was looking for a like minded woman. I knew her family. Her brother and I were best friends in HS (we still are close). God told me she was the one after 3 months, but marriage frightened me…so I waited a full 2 years to propose. There’s more depth to the story, but none that would affect biblical standard…

On the faith side - no…thought God had answered my prayers. On the practical side…we didn’t fight…ever. She held it all in. Would also discover a few years in she couldn’t ever be wrong. That was hard to spot dating, because this chick was super detail oriented.

I consider myself a strong Christian and thought I married one. 18 years later, she starts cheating. She starts accusing me of emotional abuse, because I had the audacity to look through her phone to catch her. Using said abuse claims as her biblical out - she files. I’m with the kids every week in church - people are people, it won’t take my faith. She is not in church. Her mom is disgusted with her behavior. I never thought I would be here, but I am. People are people…it takes vigilance to fig…

I have seen this come up often in different subreddits. I normally stay quiet, because this take is not PC…. Do you look anything like what he married? Love/intimacy can get a person to sex. Attractiveness is a heavy lever in frequency.

Glad you have it figured out. Mine is choosing to leave, but still is the victim…I’m pushing her into it I’ve been told. She said no to counseling and said she was done, but I’m still the one “forcing” this. It has become amusing at this point to see the mental gymnastics it takes to find a way to absolve herself of her own decisions. Best of luck!

Not a hero - a victim. Victims don’t have to have responsibility for their actions, because things just happen to them. Heros take responsibility.
