Cost of doing business. You are not getting any of it back and you should definitely keep an eye on the couch debt with your name on it. It isnt fair and it sucks and you have my sympathy, but walking away will be your least expensive option, both financially and in terms of mental health. In the name of self preservation, move on.

I absolutely am not qualified to tell you what to do, no idea about the details of your situation so please keep that in mind. I strictly played defense. My reasoning was that i dont want the burden of proof to be on me. I didnt want to look like i was being hostile just to be miserable and proving a parent is no longer qualified for the agreement you just fought for for a few years is tough. I believed any aggression on my part would help any negative caricature her lawyer created. I stuck to d…

I did exactly this. Once i was out of money i went pro se, the biggest lesson i learned is that if you are going alone be the sane one. Be friendly and courteous to every single person in the process, do not get angry or lose your temper at all, at any point. Write down a script for every meeting to keep you focused and on subject. Learn the actual law and dont try any gotcha stuff. Make certain you understand protocol and decorum in the courtroom, it has been my observation that men who go pro …

You 100% have not. I am certain that desperate guys who want a formula to scoring women will be enthralled, but there is a zero percent chance any woman would put up with your stupidity. Zero. I am sure you took a course or something, but there is no chance you have sex regularly.

What are you doing? This isnt a custody hearing. 1-I like to pay, so I choose dates I can afford. 2- I still like paying, so I suggest what I can afford, even if it is coffee and a walk 3- see 1 and 2 4,5,6- I dont mind picking a girl up 7- If they declare they are celibate, they dont want to date you 8 - If they dont commit to a date, they dont want to date you. 9 - If you dont like someone, dont date them. If they dont treat you well, dont date them. 10 - If I invite someone to something, I ex…

Dont. Please dont teach anyone a lesson. Dont pop anyone in the face. Take a step back and remeber who you need to impress, and that is your kids. You dont need to show him up or beat him in a pissing contest. You need to show up on time, deliver on your promises and be the voice of reason and sanity. You need to be the safe place where your kids want to be. Walk away from provocations, dont act like you dont care, sincerely, stop caring. It will make him nuts, and your kids will be psyched that…

2-2-5-5 did not work for us. It was confusing and a lot of switching back and forth and mostly was less convenient. If it works for you, great , but my daughter got annoyed with all the back and forth and it makes making plans confusing and complicated.

Doesn’t matter to the court at all and trying to do gotcha type stuff doesn’t help your case. It will be easier to hurt your case acting emotionally, than to strengthen your position by digging up dirt.

I think it is important to know that being a stepfather isn’t for you, but I know some people who were raised by stepfathers who they really value and I know men who have taken the burden on and thrived. We need men to step up and be stepfathers. If you want men’s rights, you will need people who were raised with men in their lives. I’m sorry your circumstances didn’t work out, but I admire that you gave it a shot. It’s not for everyone

There are a few options to look at The Collaborative process is a big thing these days, and works for some people, it can be expensive and involves a lot of professionals, however, I have seen good results happen relatively fast and fair, and ultimately turns out to be about the same costs as any lawyer path. If you are amicable and dont really have a lot to fight about, a mediator is a good idea, but it is generally worth consulting with your own attorney, no matter what, even if you go a media…

I dont know your circumstances, so I am going to make some assumptions based on the little bit in your post. Making the decision to move forward is the first step. It can knock the wind out of you, but after the shock subsides a little you need to start taking care of things. If you have the time and the money - take a vacation. Go to the baseball park you have always wanted to see, or the thing in Sweden that you never imagined you would have the chance to visit or the summer concert or seeing …

That makes sense, I had thought you meant you were going to trial. When you are considering what to do, keep in mind that ending the fighting has a value. I am sure you know, lawyer fees can stack up quick, but in addition, constant fighting is exhausting and takes a toll. Good luck.

I dont know the law or your case so I dont have any opinion, but I do know mediation usually ends up being cheaper if you are ready to deal. Your lawyer works for you, you can ask them anything you want. Are you starting trial or is this a status hearing?

Why are you having a hearing if you are close to agreement? Just for the house? What are you paying in legal fees to squeeze more out of the house? Why aren’t you doing mediation?

I did it, it is awful. Write everything down. Make a script for exactly what you want to say, because you will absolutely forget and drop points you want to make, be super respectful of the judge and everyone in the courthouse. If you are nice and show gratitude the clerks can be a huge help filing. Do not miss deadlines, read procedures and do not lose your temper at any stage. The thing that will kill you is discovery. Read about how to do it and what to ask for and utilize the court self help…

First, yes, you must support your child for the next 18 years, regardless of anything else. Whether you pay child support is going to be directly tied to custody. My ex and I share 50/50, had similar incomes, so there is no child support. That is what we agreed to in accordance with local laws. You are going to need to figure out custody, there will be some international regulations that will have some influence. I have no idea. what Canada rules are, and I am not sure if child support can be en…

This sucks and I went through something similar. In my circumstances, I made the decision that I was going to look bad if I did anything. If I was petty and restricted mom back, or made threats or tried to be a bully, it was going to reflect poorly on me. If I had to guess, I think she is trying to bait you into acting out so she can file for changes to the agreement. I made that up, zero evidence of that being the case, but even if I am wrong, you have to consider that with every single communi…

Cold Approaching has never worked. Nobody ever “used to do it”. Not in the 1970s, not in the 80s, 90s - I have never seen anyone do it successfully, ever, and it is a stupid trend that needs to stop. Men need to stop following advice from men who don’t know what they are doing.

I can hear your pain, but I am not sure what you are talking about. I will say that a lot of men agree to foolish things, not because they have to, but because they feel guilty and try to atone by giving up everything. Please don’t sign anything without letting someone else take a look at whatever it is. Most states have guidelines and she can’t just demand whatever she wants unless you agree to it. Take a step back and a deep breath and figure out what resources you have and take one step at a …

Can you help me understand what are you fighting for? There are a lot of women forced to keep an unplanned child and pay for that child the whole time. There have been fathers that have disappeared almost as long as there has been fathers. Lots of people are forced to accept realities that do not align with the plans they made before life got real. So what is it that you are arguing for? Is it that men should be solely responsible for making the decision as to whether a fetus is carried to term …

This sounds like some interesting information but think about being a little more specific about the fact that you are sharing your experience and opinions and that you are not a lawyer nor giving legal counsel. It is easy to protect yourself by making that more clear. Also having people contact you to find how to do law might be a problem too. I don’t know if it will impact you, but if a guy goes to a judge saying he listened to you and AI and knows what he is talking about, it may not go well …

Can you explain this better? I sincerely don’t understand what you are talking about. Why do you think you are supposed to “win”? Do you think you are responsible for bringing anything to the table besides earning money, or do you think men are supposed to be taken care of by a woman devoted to the cause? Has any woman tried to use you for money? There are plenty of women who are not going to be compatible, there absolutely are people who are out to take advantage of people but the bulk of the w…

If you need something, ask for it. Be mad if you don’t get what you wanted. Don’t get upset when somebody else asks for what they want and get it. The object is to build your life, not tear down anyone else’s. I would much rather that I also get 32 paid days off instead of fighting against them getting paid. If they can get paid, more power to them.

You need to start by understanding that in today’s world, a woman meeting a stranger for sex is risking her life in a few ways. Between, regular assault, SA,internet harassment, STIs, pregnancy and the lack of available women’s health services a woman has to be crazy to F$&@ a stranger. Stop trying to hook up with strangers because it won’t happen. What you CAN do is meet actual women, and find someone who is maybe interested in a casual thing or a FWB, but they need to know that they are not go…

Where are you publishing? I think trying to write a piece about sexual violence towards boys and men is really tough. Partly because the what is easily understood as sexual violence when a man does something to a woman may not be understood to be sexual violence between two boys. If a high school senior boy walked down the hall, stuck his hand in the back of some girls pants and grabbed her underwear and started pulling on it - It is violent, unwanted, humiliating and painful - no question sexua…

Not a lawyer, don’t know anything about your circumstances and this is definitely not legal advice. A lot depends on where you are and your circumstances but a lot of states defer to 50/50 and there needs to be compelling reasons to do something else. First, deep breath, you are going to be ok. I promise. She can say or do whatever she wants, there are rules and laws in place. They are very different depending on location, but a lot of places defer to 50/50 custody with the kids and unless there is a compelling reason argued in court or the two parties decide something privately, that is usually what the court pushes for. I can see that point of view, but I was suggesting being entirely selfish. She is going to get her way eventually. It is clear that this new person will be playing a larger role in her life and most likely your kids will be seeing him in some capacity as well. If you want to make it harder for them, you can do that, but it wont stop anything, and they will just cut you out of the loop. 75-80% of suicides are men, and 30-40% of those suicides are directly related to divorce/custody. Men feel guilty and make stupid decisions that destroy their lives for years. Men dont get therapy and go out drinking and posting stupid crap on social media and lose their children, because MEN DONT GET HELP. You can get a dog. As a matter of fact, it is probably a great idea to get a dog. It is incredibly grounding, and it will be your dog, not one that someone can take. Good for support and exercise and socializing. Next, the whole "why try at all if disaster is potentially always looming?" Yeah, it is. Would your marriage have lasted longer if she had been an 8? You have the freedom to figure out who and what you are looking for moving forward, and I think you might try and reframe your thinking to looking for a better fit rather than "standards going up".
