How did your social life change after divorce?Well, all of my old "friends" who were actually shared friends with the wife (parents of kid's friends, etc) have been sucked in by the wife's version of why we're getting divorced, so in that regard, the social life has collapsed. But if you count new friends, much better. The wife was very conservative and religious, so there were only certain people that it was "ok" to hang out with, so I have freedom now I never had before. So.... depends on what side of your social life you're talking about… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/05/23 10:46 AM
For those that are divorcedSame situation for me. My new place is tight, a few nice pieces of furniture, have a cleaning service every other week which is always a treat to come home to. My neighbors smoke a lot of weed and you can hear them having sex about three nights a week, so I just turn up the Sonos. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/05/23 01:27 AM

If you think you've ever done some stupid stuff just remember this.Single life doesn’t suit everyone. I’m finding that out for myself. Maybe having a partner is a steadying influence that allows him to focus on the business instead of the next hook up. I’m realizing that’s the case for me…. | 2 | Want divorce, wife breadwinner, what should I know? You’re so right. I never thought my ex possible of the shit she’s pulled, it will be years before I’m myself again. Lawyer up and fight for what you want. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/05/23 02:45 PM
Want divorce, wife breadwinner, what should I know?I'm already very very concerned about you. You're going into this timidly, willing to acknowledge her contribution to the family, the provision of the house, and allowing her to keep her retirement accounts. Here's the thing - it doesn't matter what you or she did to put you in this situation, if the situation were reversed, she would ABSOLUTELY come after her share of everything. House, retirement accounts, stocks, savings - EVERYTHING. Once those papers are filed, the person you thought you kn… | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/05/23 03:56 AM
How do you guys overcome sheer loneliness? This is a tough one, honestly. I've realized - 8 months in to the divorce - that I don't do solo well. I have no problem meeting people, but I have no guardrails. I can't just go to a bar and have some beers, I have to have 8 shots of Jaeger and wake up on the floor of somebody's bathroom. I can't date, I have to date a crazy sex maniac who literally stalks me at work. I can't travel, because imagine waking up next to the cat litter box of a girl you met at a bar in Mexico City. So I hear you wh… | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/05/23 08:36 AM
I get how fathers abandon their childrenWill add my voice here. Wife has weaponized my 17 year old, who literally hasn’t spoken or responded to any of my 25 contact attempts over the last 9 months. Wife says that she’s making the decision on her own, based on my “abandoning the family” (if you call moving 1 mile down the street and continuously reaching out over months). Wife said that she and the daughter are a “package deal” and when I left her, I left my family. My god. So I’m also at a crossroads- step back, let the daughter figur… | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/05/23 08:32 AM
Has anyone here had their ex come back in any way?Man, I am going through this right now. I’m the cheater and she filed, but now 6 months in all she want to talk about is how if I would just “take some healthy steps we could be a family again”. It got so bad that last week she talked about canceling the divorce filing. I told her that if she did that, I would re-file the next day and push harder than ever to get out. Emotionally abusive women will do anything to hang on…. Even to a cheating husband that she would be insane to trust again. Ugh. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/05/23 01:24 PM
Feeling dead. Is it too late to be worth it?Too old and not enough $$ to leave now. You’re stuck. Also, she will know about the cheating, it’s only a matter of time. If you’re OK with that then…. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/05/23 05:51 PM

Child support when kid goes to universityNo, you can do anything you want after she/he turns 18. Open up a bank account shared between you and your kid, and fund it as you see fit. I’m in a similar situation, but my wife (who is getting 50% of the assets and a huge portion of my very large income) has made it sound like if I’m not willing to pay for college, then the kid can’t go. I’m like…. Uhhh don’t you have half of everything? So it’s up to me? My god. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/04/23 02:22 AM

Visitation and custody--teenagerKind of in the same place. My 17 year old hasn't spoken to me since the wife filed for divorce 6 months ago, no matter how hard I've tried to connect with her. I got an apartment near the house, so I'm close by if she wants to connect. But she goes to college in the fall, and if nothing by then, I'll look to move farther away. I don't know how kids process things, I don't get it. I was her daddy for her entire life, and she's only listening to the wife's story and won't even hear me out. I guess… | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/03/23 05:41 PM
