Guys, in general, want to be desired by a partner that chooses them above others. Guys have an intense fear of being "settled for", because that situation often leads to passionless marriages, dead bedrooms, and divorce. Guys are competitive and always feel like a better option is going to come and take away their partner. That fear is even worse now because dating apps and social media at large have made it easier than ever before to be exposed to thousands upon thousands of options. The more a…

I'm young guy in the American south, not religious. To me sex is somewhat scary in a way. You're putting yourself in an incredibly vulnerable position with someone who could completely change their mind about you the next day. Someone who you trust in that moment could turn out to be your worst enemy later down the line. And you're giving them access to your complete and naked self? That can be a scary thought to me. Especially since I'm not much in the looks or charm department, every time I wo…

I’m not (and never have been) middle class and i have never taken a sociology class, but great job i suppose of painting this image in your head that you could attack. My grandparents and great grandparents were rural and poor farmers who lived through the depression.

A lot of younger people are incredibly confused on what is socially appropriate in different areas and situations of their lives. We were the generation that saw the death of social third spaces and the rise of social media and dopamine addiction. People are scared of the backlash and social stigma that can cone from taking risks in social spaces. People avoid flirting with coworkers because either they are scared of being reported to HR or they are afraid of sharing a social space with someone …

I think a lot of what is wrong with the current dating landscape is the importance placed on the dopamine rush of validation that comes from securing a partner, rather than the actual security and comfort that having a partner brings. Social media and dating apps have curated an entire generation of dopamine addicts no different to gamblers who don't know when to walk away from the slot machine. To that affect, I do think people will try to be whatever they need to be to make the validation part…

Dating apps just run so contrary to how dating should be. We are taught since childhood to be distrustful of strangers. It’s incredibly unnatural to just scroll through a catalog of people and pick the ones you like. It’s dehumanizing. This phenomenon hit the job market incredibly hard as well. People go through so much trouble to make their resume and Linked In profile perfect, but still miss out on most job opportunities. I don’t even think most people even look at the full profile most of the…

Anecdotally, I live in a very conservative/Republican area and the vast majority of the women around here are deeply conservative to match. And just judging from dating apps and just living here, most of them are of average or above average looks. They tend to focus a lot more on being traditionally feminine. The bigger issue I think is that the conservative women in this area, while being fairly attractive, tend to be deeply religious and many unironically believe in waiting till marriage for s…

You raise valid points - but I do think those points are based to some extent on a negative stereotype of the pre-sexual revolution era. My grandparents were part of the WWII generation - my grandpa was a WWII vet and married my grandma after leaving the Army. They were both from large, poor farming families. He met her through his brother and they fell in love and dated for a while before getting engaged and married. And they definitely had sex before marriage - my grandma confirmed this. And s…

We were raised to have certain understandings and expectations about the world, but things changed so quickly that a lot of those understandings and expectations have been nullified over the past two decades. Our parents and grandparents grew up in a time that seems almost alien now. They mostly grew up in a time where social dynamics were important and reinforced by their community. They were taught to form friendships early and that their ultimate goal in life was to get married, have kids, wo…

I'm just incredibly skeptical about the "robots are the future coffin nail for relationships" argument. I think people will always crave other people - their warmth, their character, their personality. I just can't imagine a world where the vast majority of people will be satisfied with a hollow and cold relationship with a machine. I don't care how sophisticated things get - I just don't think people will prefer that over a genuine relationship with another human. I think, at most, it will be o…

A lot of people in the US have the approximate reading level of an elementary school student. And there's a decent number of adults who are "functionally illiterate" - they can read and write their name and basic things like household items for a grocery list, but struggle anything outside of that.

This is basically what the textbook philosophy of MGTOW is supposed to be - guys shifting their focus and energy from failed attempts at dating to successful attempts at bettering their life and improving their well-being. Of course the waters got pretty muddy in the MGTOW movement and the motivations seemed to shift more towards bitterness. I think "monk mode" is a term I've heard being used to describe this sort of lifestyle adjustment - conditioning oneself to no longer desire romantic endeav…

My primary disagreement with the blackpill is what is considered "attractive" is not universal. There is a baseline attraction level based on physical fitness and certain features, but outside of that, attractiveness can vary a lot with culture and region. I live in a semi-rural conservative area and big-ole country boys do very well here, but wouldn't fair nearly as well in a big city. A lot of viewpoints in the manosphere are skewed towards middle class suburban white American perspectives. Al…

There's a lot of people on the spectrum in the online manosphere and gender-wars sphere, this sub included. People want to find logic where there isn't any. They want to find some kind of code to crack, so they can either exploit it or rule themselves out because of it. They want a universal truth that explains all their observations and opinions. The truth is really not that exciting. Some people are more attractive than others. These people tend to be positively socialized which leads to a hig…

I’d argue that those with the most success are people who are unknowingly bluepilled. People who have consistent, relatively positive dating lives have no need to over analyze and hyperfocus on dating dynamics. These are people who are moderately attractive, have decent social skills, and are typically neurotypical. These are your people that start dating in middle school, messed around with a few puppy-love relationships in high school, and had one or two long term relationships in college that…

I do think there’s a high concentration of autism/neuroticism here, and that’s coming from someone who is on the spectrum. People here tend to be incredibly analytical in their approach to relationships and dating, trying to find logic where there isn’t any. Like another commenter said, they approach everything like a mathematical formula that has one universal solution. Trying to find logic in human behavior is a fool’s errand - patterns do exist and I do think there is a baseline that describe…

If they can get away with scorched earth-ing Al Franken, they can get away with it every single time. His example is proof that any semblance of inappropriate behavior, even the most innocuous and in good-fun, can and will be used against you.

A lot of it just comes down to autism. I’d wager a good chunk of those involved in the pill sphere are on the spectrum. I’m autistic myself and it seems pretty clear to me. Those on the spectrum tend to have very analytical thinking that seeks to find logic and reason within observed patterns. Just about everything in the pill sphere comes down to observation and statistics. Being on the spectrum can also cause very stilted speech and social unawareness, which comes across on a lot of posts here…

At what point did I state anyone is “entirely” associated with anything? I used the word “typically”. Sounds like you’re putting words in my mouth. And if you’re getting hung up on specific words that I did or didn’t use, that’s just being pedantic and adds nothing to the conversation.

If you took two people, both being completely identical except one is a man and the other is a woman, most people would likely chose the woman. Men are typically associated with negative traits (brutish, dim witted, creepy, callous) while women are typically associated with positive traits (compassionate, caring, gentle). I think a lot of guys start noticing this in school. I noticed it a lot in college as my friendship group included quite a few women. People were just much more agreeable towar…

I apologize if I came off a certain way or misrepresented things you said. Sometimes I get a little carried away. But I still stand behind my point that intentionally maximizing autistic traits will only do harm in the short and long run. I guess I should just answer your original question: "Is it worth it?" and my answer is a resounding NO. I've been there and done that. For a lot of my adolescence/early college years, I had the "I don't give a fuck what people think, I'm just gonna be who I am…

I said all that because you're being incredibly dense in regard to the social consequences involved in your "option". You say that acting that way is "easier" - you're just wrong on that. Your whole take on this just seems to be "but girlfriend bro". There is never a guarantee that you will get a girlfriend unless you are extremely attractive with great social prowess. Going around acting like an out-of-control manchild will create nothing but problems in your life. If you think that is worth it…

You've seen it work, once. What you didn't care to mention is how disastrously acting that way can backfire. If you go around acting in full on autist mode, you turn yourself into a walking circus for others' amusement at best, and a social liability at worst. Autism isn't a valid excuse for just saying and acting however you want. You can still get in serious trouble at work/school for saying inappropriate or weird things. It doesn't matter how "confident" you are about it or how many times you…

Trust me, the last thing you want is the pity of neurotypicals. Like the other commentor said, at best you end up being infantilized by women (and other men). You become "buddy" and everyone treats you like you're ten years old. People will try to apologize to others for your behaviors and character traits like you're their mentally disabled friend. It's a really shitty way to be and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. At worst, people will instantly label you as a weirdo/creeper because of your aloof…

I think you've worded this really well and I agree with most of your points. I think the bigger issue is that "normies" just don't really care about the plight of chronically single, lonely men and "incels". Articles describing the "male loneliness epidemic" are posted to big subreddits from time to time, and the overall feeling you get from most of the comments is "why should we care?" or "men aren't entitled to relationships, they just need to get over themselves". Most people simply don't car…

Definitely. A lot of guys are just checking out of society - working simple jobs to make enough money to support themselves and hobbies like gaming. It's very rare for me to see guys out in public alone. If I see guys at the store it's almost always them with their partner or a group of friends, and those guys tend to be above average looking. I think any big social event nowadays is going to have very few single below average looking guys. From what I understand even places like clubs are mostl…

I never realized I was a short guy until I went to college. I always thought I was roughly average because there weren’t too many tall kids in my high school. Then I got to college and it seemed like most guys towered over me. I went to a small private college so most of the guys were tall, white, athletic, and upper middle class. It was an awakening for me. I live in a college town and most of the young couples I see out in public are some variation of: Guy is above average height and looks, ha…

A major blow to dating has been the evaporation of third spaces for in-person mingling for young people. Ever since the boomers came around, teenagers would mingle outside of school because there was really no other way for socialization outside of talking on the telephone. My dad (a boomer) will literally strike up a conversation with anybody and never feels awkward or embarrassed by doing so. People of his generation were pushed to be social and to learn how to interact with others. Our genera…

Most people are just mediocre people leading mediocre lives, and there's nothing wrong with that. At some point (I guess maybe in the 80s or 90s?) someone decided that we would start rewarding people for mediocrity and them feel special for no real reason. As much as I detest the pearl clutchers who shout about "participation trophies", I do think that we started giving people the wrong idea about what kind of life they would live. We started telling people "you can do anything if you work hard …

Attractive women, easily. The criteria for "attractive" is much more broad for women. Women can be chubby, skinny, built, or just average and still possess a certain beauty. I'd say if you pulled a random lady from the population, most guys would find something nice about her. For men, the range is very narrow and is not nearly as forgiving. You need to be tall, lean, and fit with good facial structure to really be considered universally attractive. Imperfections are a lot less forgiving for guy…

It makes me extremely hesitant to date and the anxiety about it has essentially killed my sex drive (almost a blessing in a way). It’s just one of those things I wish people would be more honest about. Above average penises are better in just about every way for most people. And people online love to say “if you’re average you’re fine”. Well what if you’re below average? You will face a lot of rejection and ridicule. Path of least resistance holds true for most people. I just don’t care enough to take all that time and energy to contort myself into a product to sell to others. You can’t looksmax autism or depression (though going to the gym can help depression). I just don’t care enough about sex or relationships anymore. That's the beauty of the blackpill - it's not really that complicated. It's kind of like the relationship version of Michael Pollan's eating mantra ("eat food, not too much, mostly plants"). For the blackpill its: "Some people are highly attractive, most are not, people will naturally gravitate towards the attractive ones." We used to have a lot of social conditioning and pretense surrounding this idea because other things were more important than looks alone and dynamics were put in place to su…

Tall skinny white guys typically have a beggar’s banquet in the dating world. Airheads also tend to do well because they aren’t complicated and have more intrinsic masculinity. Intelligence is often seen as a very feminine and unattractive trait in guys unless it is coupled with perfect looks.

Being a blackpill victim (aka receiving the negative impacts of the blackpill due to being unattractive) is highly comorbid with having clinical depression and neurodivergency. This typically causes a major sense of apathy which fuels low productivity and a broken mindset that sometimes gives way to nihilism - because why does anything really matter if others live a life much more fulfilling and meaningful than yours? I hate to sound like some kind of life coach or guru or something, but I think…

I'm 26. I guess I became blackpilled when I got to college. It was my first time being surrounded by attractive, athletic, upper middle class white kids. I never knew I was short or unattractive until I was routinely surrounded by guys taller and much better looking than I was. Yes, and current statistics agree with this. I think the reasons are very complicated, but some big picture influences are: living in the post sexual revolution era, collapse of the middle class and economic instability, and the elimination of third space social interaction in favor of virtual socialization and parasocial relationships. The sexual revolution brought with it a whole new understanding of relationships. In the past, relationships were built primarily in power dynamics and the socia…

I’d say that a lot of it is due to how the dating landscape has changed so rapidly in just the past 20 years due to the rise of dating apps and social media. Most of us were raised by blue pilled people in a bluepill society. The bluepill worked for grandpa and grandma because the dating landscape and priorities were completely different then. The concept of a “provider” husband was the main priority of women. Sure looks were important, but for most people the dating pool was very limited and a …

I would say most incels are probably NEETs. I’m in STEM, and I would say from my experience, very few males fit the incel description. This just shows how much attraction (raw, instinctual attraction) overcomes all those platitudes people throw out. I’ve known women (colleagues and cousins) who basically functioned as a mom to their boyfriends and put up with ridiculous behaviors. If it’s something that Redditors are really good at, it’s being sanctimonious and self righteous. “Incel” is the latest gotcha insult to make someone look bad. Incels are associated with perverse and violent neuroses in popular media, alongside being stereotyped as weirdos. It’s a quick way to label someone as a loser/creep and a bad person. Redditors in general like to feel they are better than others, so calling someone a loser will make them look better. It’s very similar to how Nazi is throw…

It sucked when I was 19 too. But as I got older, I realized that a lot of people in relationships aren’t really that happy and cheating and drama are rampant. I realized that a lot of people don’t know how to function or find happiness outside of a relationship or casual sex. I think it’s going to continue to get worse until VR is ubiquitous enough and advanced enough to fill the void. We already spend a lot of time online as it is.

America is very much a dichotomy in respect to fitness. I've noticed that the two ends are growing further and further apart - the people into fitness are really into fitness and take that lifestyle very seriously, and the people not into fitness are really not into it. A lot of guys grow a beard to cover up weak jaw/baby face. Chubby/fat guys usually sport beards to cover the double chin and as an attempt to cash in on that “teddy bear” aesthetic. I think the modern beard trend came about with the performative masculinity movement of the early 2010s - the whole lumbersexual hipster backlash to the metrosexual movement. In their heads, some guys earned +10 manly points by sporting a beard. In general, I think most guys look better clean shaven or with stubble. …

I've maintained for a long time that whatever "pill" one subscribes to is primarily driven by that person's personal experiences and observations with the dating landscape and human behavior, just like pretty much everything in life. However, I think the dating landscape blurs the lines of "science", and I do believ…

I always just chalk this up to neurotypicals not being able to understand the mentality of someone with autism. Autism is without a doubt a social disability - it primarily effects the ability for someone to communicate with others and understand/interpret social cues. I will attempt to expand on your point on “being sociable is not a skill that can be developed” and place some logic to it. I (and I suspect a decent percentage of other “incels” and guys in the pill sphere at large) have Asperger’s syndrome, and being on the Autistic spectrum is probably the leading cause of this premise that you’ve seen. I think bluepill was a fairly unique school of dating that really came of age in the 20th century Anglosphere. This is basically when the modern notion of “dating” emerged as something different to traditional courting or arranged marriages. I think it prospered especially under conditions where dating options were limited and the only real time social interaction was in person or the telephone. When your options are limited and the number of people you talk to every day is limited, the ways you…

You can look in the mirror and get a pretty good idea of where you sit, or if you really want, you can post to a multitude of “rate me” subreddits for free. I used to be a regular viewer of his, and I think some of his analysis videos hold up well. But a lot of his content is repetitive and he doesn’t really have anything new to offer other than trying to sell you crap.

I do think that some people can be myopic in terms of what defines “looks” according to blackpill. For example, any guy on the autism spectrum is going to have a much more difficult time than any given neurotypical. But how do looks factor into that? Well, I’m on the spectrum and most of my friends have been as well, and i have noticed a general trend of how autists have a certain overall look. My argument is that looks are not always down to jawline, hairline, and physique. Posture, gait, facia…

Churchmaxxing will only work if you’re in the 16 - 22 age bracket, and even then you still have to be a chad or chadlite. I grew up in a very, very conservative and Christian town in the southern US. Being a good Christian is expected of just about everyone, and it would be social suicide to come out as non religious. Being a man that “loves and follows Jesus” is a prerequisite for women here - it’s mentioned in 9/10 dating app bios. What does that mean? Similar to “nerd”, “loves Jesus” means th…

I migrated here from PPD because that sub got overrun with white knighting, virtue signaling, and bad faith arguments all around. With blackpill being banned there, you can’t really counter the narrative and if you do, you get dogpilled for being an incel. Blackpill is the status quo now. Social media (Tik Tok, Instagram, Twitter) and dating apps have confirmed that looks are now the primary mode of attraction for men. People can do with that information what they will, but it tells us one thing…

I think a lot of it draws from how difficult it is to achieve now. In my grandfather’s day, you courted women by going to the weekly dances and finding a woman that you liked. Your competition was fairly limited to the other guys in the general area. Finding a woman and getting married was seen as the default, and you’d have to have something seriously wrong with you not to achieve that. Certainly gender dynamics were far different back then - women needed men for financial support and as a prov…

While I probably do relate to those girls the most, there’s a few reasons why I’ve had no success in trying to date them: 1) I’m usually too nerdy/awkward for them. They like the “good ole county boys”, you know, the ones who wear only carhart and baseball caps and drive those lifted pick up trucks. I’m a nerdy guy with Asperger’s syndrome who they don’t see as attractive. 2) 99% of them are taken. The good ones get snatched up shortly after high school and get married soon after. I don’t think …

I became black pilled in college. I grew up in a small southern community (America) where a lot of people are “churchpilled” (most women are looking for a “good hardworking guy who loves Jesus”). I was used to being around average or below average looking working class folks. Most my high school crushes were girl-next-door types and I never really witnessed a lot of the tropes that get talked about in here. I reached my max height of 5’7/5’8 (I’m somewhere between that) in high school, but I did…

I can tell you as someone with Asperger’s (along with a few other issues), it’s detrimental to dating. Because I don’t understand a lot of subtle social cues, it’s impossible for me to interact with someone in a flirty way. If I tried to flirt with someone, it would most likely make me look like a creepy predator because I don’t do well with nuance. Social skills are vital to people respecting you. Neurotypical people seem to do this without struggle because they have it encoded. They started as…

I’ll explain it the way I’ve always seen it: Bluepill: “Be yourself” Repill: “improve yourself” Blackpill: “understand yourself” Bluepill is essentially the generic status quo understanding of dating dynamics, especially for middle class average white people from the Anglo sphere. These people tend to be average or above in looks and socio economic status, and therefore have a much better dating experience than those below them. From their perspective, dating is all about highlighting your attri…

I’ve discussed dating beliefs at length with my close friends. We’re all guys in our 20s who have very limited/non existent dating experience and all consider ourselves below average for various reasons. We all tend to agree on various principles of what most would consider to be the “blackpill”, namely that looks are the most important aspect of dating for guys and that women are a lot more shallow than they’d have you believe. However, when I’ve discussed my views on dating with colleagues and…

This is true of any social media. It’s an inherently visual platform (except Twitter I guess, but it has enough of its own problems) therefore pretty much useless to any of us who are below average. No one cares what I’m doing or how my life is going, and I don’t feel the need to share it with others. I’m often very confused by people who constantly post things to instagram or use Snapchat or TikTok constantly. I like Reddit because it’s anonymous and it’s easy to blend in. I guess some people j…

Exactly, couldn’t have said it better. If I had to break down pills as I see them, it would be: Bluepill: “you need to be yourself” Red pill: “you need to improve yourself” Black pill: “you need to understand yourself” To me, the black pill is all about understanding your position in the attractiveness hierarchy and accepting the hand that genetics has dealt you. Any talk of improvement is real just red pill at the end of the day. Black pill is simply a statement on the natural order of things.

I would say that the vast majority of incels blend in to their surroundings to some degree - hiding in plain sight. I don’t think most people care enough to think about other people’s sexual lives who they aren’t interested in. I’ve always been of the opinion that a good chunk of people just lack a general sense of self-awareness and act out of impulse a majority of the time. My ex-girlfriend was British, and I'm an American. British and American culture is somewhat different, but all the basics are still the same. Dating dynamics are somewhat different because British people tend to be a lot more direct and blunt about their feelings than Americans. The "American Flirt" is an archetype for a reason. Sex and gender aren't the same thing. For a long time they were used as synonyms, but 20th century social science has defined them as different things. Sex describes your biology. Gender and gender roles have been shifting as long as civilization as existed. And they vary widely depending on time period, religion, ethnicity, and geography. I…

That's pretty much the whole idea, I think. People who are treated poorly, either justly or unjustly, build up resentment and bitterness over time.
