I have an Engineering teacher who does something similar. She always points out female achievements in engineering, stating something along the lines of, “they were oppressed in the engineering field, therefore all of their achievements are better achievements.” She also had a “girl power class” where all of the students were girls. (most didn’t even want to be in the class, but were put in there) In the class, they did all of the same “engineering challenges” as us, but were never forced to do …

Yeah. But it’s INSANELY dangerous and expensive to get into. You’re dealing with a TON of electricity, especially when you’re welding rusted things (as water tends to do), not to mention, you’re in one of the most conductive materials known. Machines that apply the electricity safely, and appropriate safety equipment are really expensive, and only large companies can afford them, making practice hard to do.
