IBEW apprenticeship rates vary by local and are percentage based (off journeyman scale). My understanding is that black is clearly defined. There aren't really any "shades" of black, like there are shades of gray. Black is just...Black. I think they are saying things should remain "no means no" and "yes means yes". Rather than "no means no" and "yes means no or yes depending on a scale of 1-10".

I worded my question poorly. The person I was responding to said infant FGM was non-invasive, implying that its not very harmful, when it certainly is. It also sort of implied that it's normalized in the civilized world, when it isn't. Pretty sure it's banned/illegal in most developed western countries. I'm well aware that in third world countries like some in Africa, its used as a means of oppression.

r/comics Flat out says no racism, but allows posting of racism towards certain groups. Can't imagine what groups those might be... This type of shit isn't anything new for reddit, and it's not going anywhere anytime soon, I'm afraid. I'm still utterly shocked that banned r/femaledatingstrategy , more or less. I've tried explaining to non-union trade members the difference. In my trade (union member), I make 36 an hour, on my pay check. Benefits and pensions are pre-negotiated. Non-union I've talked to say they make the same and then tell me they deduct for benefits, etc. Like Oh buddy, if only you knew.

For the same reason r/comics allows blatant racism (even though its plainly stated it is not allowed) so long as it is towards certain groups and not others. Racism towards White Folks is okay since it either "doesn't exist" or it "doesn't count". Sexism toward Men is fine and tolerated on reddit because it "doesn't count".

I'm voting left because it's the right thing to do and it's in my best interests. But I know plenty of folks voting right because they are tired of how the left treats them like shit just for being Men, and I don't blame them one single bit regardless of how much of a shitbag Trump might be.

I don't fully spiral, but I do dwell on it for a little while. Then I realize that whenever someone makes or encourages racism in that manner, they are only projecting their flaws, shortcomings, and insecurities onto those around them. I'm got my own mountain of issues to deal with everyday, but making racist/sexist comments like "group xyz is the worst." will never be a solution for me.
