Anyone noticed this I very much liked James Deen. I enjoyed working with him on WWJDD. I asked him to do an advice column because I liked his directness and his confidence, but most of all, I liked his emphasis on communication, honesty and, most of all, CONSENT. Sounds like Deen was taught/told "not to rape".

There are a couple of factors at play. The fear that sex offenders keep re-offending (or could), has the "highest recidivism rate" and this demand to keep tabs on "offenders" is based on how this factoid keeps getting repeated on every crime drama, every tv show that ever mentions it, it's treated as a truism. Even though "sex offenses" includes public urination.

The Adria Richards case is a very clear example of how the notion of "power" is grotesquely misjudged. She has what, 10k twitter followers? A simple complaint reverberated and had the power to end a man's job. It's not relevant whether that was her intent or not; I'm merely demonstrating that people, individuals can and do have more power than the "prejudice + power = *ism" recognize. Including racism.

Thats pretty much what convinced me to become pro-choice (again, Id gone back and forth in the 90s) but the situation with the clinics in PA (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/23/pennsylvania-abortion-clinic_n_812700.html) suggests that remaining legal is no guarantee of safety.

I think a person's opinion on an issue ought to be considered regardless of the gender of said person. My stance on abortion or circumcision is not invalid because of my gender; my opinion ought to be judged on its merits alone. I wish more people for these issues would accept that rather than rely on knee jerk reactions "Oh your opinion doesn't count"
