It would be a strawmen if I would have implied that you claim otherwise, but I didn’t. Yeah, the average person is an „imbecile“. So are the people that mansplain or womansplain. In the context of the discussion I would say an expert is someone with well above average knowledge in a field. We‘re talking about mansplaining, womansplaining(don’t know if there’s a genderneutral term). Someone with a PhD in Finance is not gonna be an expert in all Finance-Related Topics, there’s certain niches he’s gonna be an expert at.
