Happily married woman here. I only found FSS because some of my favorite other subs got kind of taken over by male mods and their political interests. And then some prominent power users I'm not fans off started complaning about FDS. It was like free advertising to find a subreddit where women speak boldy.

Right? Women tend to outlive men. In the US the gap is 4 to 5 years. So even if you marry an equal-in-age partner statically the husband is more likely to die before the wife in a heterosexual marriage. Plus, in the US husbands are 2.3 years older than wives on average. That doesn't mean it always happens but lots of people have a short or long chapter in their lives after their partner has died. From personal connections I know a few people that had a partner die in their mid-thirties to sixtie…

To this asking of who is being empowered, I add the corollary "sex positive for whom?" I heard a lot of "sex positive" mumbo jumbo as a young woman that just diminished vanilla monogamous sex within a committed relationship and amped up everything else. Who did that benefit? It wasn't the young women I knew in my life at that point...
