The largest demographic risk factor for PTSD is female sex The largest reported demographic risk you mean.. Women are also more likely to share these kinds of issues than men, which are more likely to suffer in quiet desperation, so I don't know how grounded that data would be

Imo these people are repressed bullies, the only thing stopping them being violent is their physical weakness, and they're outraged at acts of violence not because they care about protecting people (the fact that they don't care about men being victims betrays them) but because they can't stand someone else living their forbidden dream of having their way with everyone by being a physically abusive asshole. They probably think being strong makes you bulletproof or something.. Basically what Niet…

Yeah, if you want, hence the word freedom.. What's the objection here?

Because Patriarchy still exists, according to Feminists The thing is, that's an entirely different point. That wouldn't be an excuse, when properly pointed out and explained. But I rarely see that happen.. Often it's just mentioning the past, and when referencing modern examples it's rarely done in a way that points fingers in a direct and straightforward manner, at most they rely on the old correlation causation gimmick

That's exactly it. And you know, I could understand if this expectation was directed at the actual generations that did the discriminating.. But it's not even that, it's directed at the ones who ended it. So what, are they supposed to feel guilty for doing the decent thing that their ancestors didn't? This is biting the hand that freed you, and it's just crazy to me. It's one thing to not feel indebted to the people that helped you free yourself, which I agree with because that wasn't the point:…

I mean, who cares? I never understood this point. Even if it did happen, what about it? Am I supposed to accept the men today (the ones who actually helped free the women, in this narrative) are supposed to make up for the sins of their ancestors, in addition to changing things? Isn't that absurd? That's an expectation that discourages any attempt at making things better for any oppressed minority, because the generation that does it is the one who has to pay for the ones before. Eventually peop…

It's also not really how women feel. Sure, they're more scared of random men, but at least you have some hope to deal with a dangerous individual that has it against you and come out relatively unscathed. With the judicial system however..

As if gender was in any way relevant. One could also say that misogyny doesn't actually exist in itself and is just another name for the impulse of preying on the physically weaker, but that still shouldn't lead you to ignore women as victims. The point is empathy, not identity politics.

Yeah it's like these people believe there are two types of men in the world: blue beard, and the ones who save his bride.

It's not even coddling, because not knowing who's walking by you, you don't actually know what they'd prefer you do - for all you know you're walking toward someone that has a kink for scary looking men and by making yourself seem non threatening you'll disappoint them and receive a bad look for that unpredictable reason. I'm all for coddling if done responsibly and consciously, but this is just shooting blindly for no reason and no people

This paranoia will get to you and create resentment, OP. You can't change your behavior with strangers based on what some other unrelated strangers on the Internet whine about.. They don't speak for anyone but themselves. You know what will demonstrate that you're not a threat? You not harming them. If they're afraid even when you do nothing.. Well, they'll have to learn to deal with their emotions eventually

It hurts because it reflects some attitudes men hate toward each other (like mocking a man for caring about another man).. And it's used to mock them as well. It's like, you know that's a problem, and that's your reaction: not compassion, but mockery. It hurts because it reminds you that the problem isn't that they don't know, it's that they don't care even when they know. You'll stop experiencing this when you'll help yourself more and stop expecting other people to help, unless you explicitly …

Yes, that's what it becomes once it's been filtered through a fear-riddled mind.. Kind of the point of the rest of my post. These people can't think straight and don't realize it

It's about safety, but the solution is being thought and spread by scared and confused women that are in the throes of getting over their fear.. Meaning they're not in the right mind to propose a solution at all. You know what group I almost never see be given a platform? Those who got over their traumas and went on to live a good life. Instead we let wounded victims speak and make decisions, when it's not really a good idea, because they're not in any condition to do so. And we think we're doin…

No one pointing out that men are physically stronger and can't handle violent crime better than women? It's as if sports weren't divided by gender and you came here asking why it is that the top football teams are mostly comprised of men..

No, sexism is, by definition, only against one gender from another. The term you're looking for is misanthropy. Sexism is for both genders in the sense that both genders are guilty of doing it. Misogyny and misandry are the same thing, sexism.

But again - my claim is that most men who say "no women" do indeed mean no women How is that possible? How could they have that knowledge, unless they literally asked all women and got rejected by all of them? You do know the literal meaning of the words you're using, right? You're saying that most men saying "no women" actually mean no existing women in the known universe?

I mean, the requirement for a statement like "no woman will date me" to be literally true is to be having tried dating literally every woman one came across.. And I doubt anyone has ever done that. Even if the implied, undisclosed requirements to qualify as woman aren't as exaggerated as in my previous example, it doesn't mean they aren't there.. My point still stands.

In order the latter to change, they have to settle for what is by all accounts an unpleasant woman. Not an unpleasant woman, but a man, or another gender, according to their wording. Since women won't date them.. Who knows, maybe if they took the habit of expressing themselves more honestly and say things like "super attractive women with a pleasant smell, a good body, a good head on their shoulder, etc. won't date me" instead, they'll start to realize that maybe they have some changes to do to …

It's a very generous attitude to suppose most people who spread that hate are former victims, but it's good to be generous. Well obviously there are also people that do it to join the bandwagon, and it's harder to do this distinction on the internet.. But even in that case, why engage with them? They're not in good faith in the first place. Sure, every once in a while the argument might be having success, and it's usually either the few cases where they're not convinced about the bandwagon or th…

I think you should take it for what it is, someone having had a dangerous experience and living through the echoes of their trauma. They aren't in any shape to be having discussions and you shouldn't encourage this behavior by engaging with them.. Nor will they really ever change their mind until they get over it themselves. We let these corporate giants off the hook too much when we try to convert the users rather than call the companies out for even allowing this kind of hate speech on their p…

Don't get trapped by the outward self-delusions of humanity. You know as well as I do that the more a group needs to see another as enemies, the less the relationships within that group are solid. That when we see a stranger as a menace, it's often our own worst impulses that are on display. That the past can't be changed, and guilt is often a distraction hurled at somene's face like sand, so that they won't see whatever embarrassment the attacker is trying to desperately forget. That when we se…

“Chivalry is grounded in a fundamental reality that defines the relationship between the sexes,” explained Sommers, “and given that most men are physically stronger than most women, men can overpower women at any time to get what they want.” “If women give up on chivalry, it will be gone,” continued Sommers. “If boys can get away with being boorish, they will, happily. Women will pay the price.” Oh I have to agree, and I think in a way women sort of undid the social contract with men and release…

The ideal of a man is a rich person, so there is a truth when some people say that the patriarchy benefits mostly rich man. Like.. How? Whose ideal of a man, women's? Because that's not at all the ideal that men have to confront throughout their life, in fact it's quite the opposite.. The ideal man's man is the perfect drone: the more he works, the more he's respected (regardless of the work), he's not allowed to express too much emotion, he's taught that physical strength counts the most, he's …

Because people want to do something useful with their days I'd say people want to do whatever they feel like with their days, it would be better to invest the resources we'd waste in inventing bs jobs to create a universal basic income

The way I see it, it's just our natural instinct to protect the young of the species - pretty is often synonymous with "having childlike traits", like big eyes, soft features, etc. But we completely misused this instinct: based on how much we idolize pretty people you'd think us all excellent caregivers, and yet there's plenty of people that obsess over pretty celebrities and at the same time neglect their children..
