I think it accomplishes the opposite of what the companies are trying to achieve: by taking a popular white character and changing their race, you are saying there is nothing interesting in and of itself about a minority character. I dated a girl once. We met up with one of her friends at a small tourist spot a couple hours from where we live. They had an ambitious list of places to visit in town- more than you can really do in a day. Lo and behold, we were done in under an hour. It's different for each state. For example: WA uses a table that factors the current net income of both parents. Averaging is only used for nonrecurring income and they only reach back two years.
