I don’t think I ever did generalize. In fact, I haven’t made any statements about female waiters yet. I pretty much posed a research question that someone else might think is worth investigating. Also maybe there would be a fellow internet person who could say more about the topic than give anecdotes and theories as explanation. That’s what I wanted to hear. That’s why I originally commented.

What do you mean? If I said men work more hours on average than women then that’s not generalization. That would be a verifiable statistic. I’m wondering if it’s the exact same thing happening here with female waiters and service.

It's not that a good guy is stopping the shooter during a shooting, it's that when a potential school shooter considers the high probability that there will be good guys trying to stop the shooter, the shooter doesn't act out of line in the first place. People don't attempt to rob others on the street where there are many bystanders, because there is a high probability that bystanders will intervene.

But people would be carrying the guns to protect themselves first and foremost. Surely ensuring that oneself is more protected than not is not bad because of traditionalism - it's a rational choice. Also, you (agiganticpanda) don't have to carry a gun. If some other people carry guns, then everyone benefits from the herd immunity. Herd immunity is that having some guns here and there highly increases a mass murderer's probability of running into armed resistance.

Wrongly accused means that the accuser accused even though the accuser knew no crime happened. Not guilty means that there isn't good enough evidence to convict the accused of a crime. They are two very different things. She was not guilty, but I don't see evidence in the article that the woman was wrongly accused. All that aside, it still sucks that she lost all custody of children and took her life over this.
