Lesbian marriages have the highest divorce rates.

I tend to be in your camp. Women see marriage as an at-will situation. It's just the way things are. Hell a decent chunk get married knowing they'll divorce in the future. They see it as a right of passage almost. Guys will continue to get married. We have to inform them of how things are.

Women tend to know years in advance they're going to divorce, then pull the trigger when they feel the time is now right. Your wife has been waiting in the shadows for who knows how long, waiting for you to mess-up, get in a huge fight, smoke you out by witholding sex, lose a job etc.. Sounds like you haven't. So...she'll use this thing with your ex Instead.

Did you marry her in your 40s?

We had sex the week she left. Longest drought was about 3 weeks. Aka...decent sex throughout.

Your comments seem pretty reasonable. Open to change but understanding life isnt a movie. Sometimes things just dont get better. And in a divorce, Someone is always left behind to pay the bill. Im 5 years divorced too. I'd imagine if things aren't better for you/us in another 4 or 5 years they probably won't get better. But hey, here's hoping we get our mojo back one day.

Plus he says she's the most amazing person he ever met and their values never met. Like, didn't we all say that? "Hey tell me about your spouse"? Well We have sort of the same values and they're probably the fifth best person I've ever met

How long have you been divorced? Or are you officially not divorced yet?

Children of divorced parents are more likely to divorce themselves so...it's a thing.

If no kids, you should never see or talk to her again for the rest of your life. I mean ever. Dont be her back-up plan. She wants the divorce, fucking give it to her. A lot of women who initiate divorce tend to know years in advance. Am I implying she knew when she got married she was going to divorce you? Yeah probably. They consider marriage an at-will situation so, it would be no water off her back to marry thinking that. It's not uncommon to marry and/or divorce just because their girl frien…

Sure, or she used him for a military retirement. I'd put money on the latter.

The hill I will die on until the end of my days is that women know years in advance they're going to divorce. You say at least two. I'll be honest my man, with a military retirement she could have known a decade ago. Again, they know this shit for a long time.

Cheaper and cooler than Miami, that's for sure. Although maybe not that much cooler in the summer months. I'd live there if I got the chance.

With stuff like this, I'd always pick what makes you the most excited and happy. Ironically, it will put you in a way better position to help your son for the long term. Plenty of ways to be a good father and live farther away. My dad spent 15 years ten minutes from me when I was a kid and Id go years without seeing or talking to him. 🤷

Sounds like she's picking fights to sabotage the marriage. If you're a decent guy she might realize you're not gonna give her a silver bullet for divorce. So..they'll resort to this. They'll stay at it for a year, two, five whatever. Until they can go "wow look at how much we now fight, I'm exasperated my only choice is to divorce"

She wants to divorce you and you want to buy her flowers professing your love? No dude. Don't do that. She wants the divorce, give it to her.

If you want to date...then date. I waited a year after seperation to "heal" and it was moronic. Move on with your life.

Like To bring justice for stuff in the world? No. In the context of divorce, there's a few things to realize. They'll get bored of the next guy too. Sure as the sun will rise. Regardless of if they stay with him. The looks will fade too. I think once the looks fade, once the thrill of divorce (yes, women get a thrill out of it a lot of time) fades...their lives really don't end up a whole lot different than ours. And who knows...maybe years and years from now, when theyre no longer a pretty face…

I'm not a gamer, but I've had a few guy friends who are. Woman can use their phones for 5 hours a day, no biggie, but if a guy spends 30 minutes on his Playstation they lose their minds. It's weird to me.

Every "trial" separation I've witnessed, and I mean all of them, Is because one of the spouses wants to fuck other people but use the separation as a hall pass. Im sure this situation was no different. If woman are throwing out the D word...you go forward with the plans. Always. You either 1. Make it clear you won't tolerate D word tantrums. Or 2. You start taking control of your new life. For men there's no other option. She wants the divorce, fucking give it to her! Also, don't move out of the…

I would disagree. He admits he's still staring at her because she's "beautiful" at the party and it's been years. OP needs to emotionally kick her off the pedestal yesterday.

She makes fun of you to her friends. She was excited to be on the dating apps after you split. She liked cheating. We need to stop pretending otherwise my man. Why would you give your adoration to someone like that?

As the prospect of reconciliation seems doomed". If I'm reading this right, here's the very 1st thing I would do. Make it very clear to her you know its over, and you will be acting as such. Then act like it. I've seen guys post on here "it's been 14 months seperated and she flirted with me the other day, should I try again?" Don't be that guy. Your four months into this. It's over. Don't let her breadcrumbs you romantically any longer. She wants to divorce you. She's excited to get on tinder. S…

I've got a friend that's Brazilian, and we go to movies together. And every time we get a scene/plot that shits on men/how dumb useless men are/how flawless women are, one of us will say to each other "homem lixo, mulher perfeita". Which is a poorly worded way of saying "man trash. Woman perfect". I think once you see it you can never unsee it. And hey, maybe back in the 50s or some shit it was reversed. I get there is a pendulum with gender wars for sure.

This isn't 1972. Women for decades have seen marriage as an at-will situation. Men need to adapt and accept what reality now is. Him dying on his sword will not produce better outcomes for himself. He wants to divorce, then he should.

women are constantly told by society to divorce to "find their truth" and chase their goals and never settle bla bla. Fair play I say. If you want to divorce her, do it.

Why in the fuck are you dancing with a woman who has put your through hell? Dude, if it's a "mid life" issue or not, she's playing you , and she thinks you're weak. I'd bet my 401k she talks shit on you to her friends. Trust me, I was there too my man. I come from a place of love Tis the season so divorce_men is going to give you a gift. The gift is that you're going to decide to never talk/see her again for the rest of your life.

Not dad related but...a women can spend years with a guy knowing the entire time they'll divorce. Like I'm talking years As Cormac McCarthy said "you'll never know what worse luck your bad luck has saved you from". Guys post on here all the time: "shit, it all went wrong so fast and she left, maybe if we'd only had 2 things go wrong instead of 5 we'd still be together." Yeah maybe ..and then the wife leaves a decade later anyway. And while she's walking out the door hits you with the: "it was ju…

Most women view men as a means to an end. Its not about "regret" for them. Guys think like that. They dont. They very much have an at-will mentality in regards to marriage. "This guy works for now so ill stay. This guy worked for a while and now he doesnt, but this new guy looks promising" etc And OP...they see the new guys like this too. The game doesn't end with us. Don't forget that.

I'm more pessimistic than most maybe, as im sure my wife knew before we even got married she'd divorce. But we weren't married 21 years like you OP. With a military pension on the table? Shit , she could have known ten years ago she was going to divorce you. She probably told a few family members or friends years ago about the plan. It's a long-con You're not the first, you won't be the last. 9 year relationship for me, 5 year marriage. I came home a few weeks after we got her greencard in the m…

I speak Portuguese and Spanish. So interact with a lot of friends/acquaintances in those communities. I could name you at least 5 women I've met that divorced their husbands after getting their greencard. If you're a dude...just assume any single mom with younger kids and a woman needing immigration papers is using you and make decisions from that starting point. Probably save you a lot of trouble.

I don't think they actually believe this about their husbands. Let me explain. Some women act in bad faith in marriages to an extent that would shock most men. They play the long game and they play it masterfully. Women will stay with a guy for years knowing the entire time they're going to divorce. The worst one I know of personally Is 13 years( it was to get a military pension). I think women like this start early and build a long, long case to to "prove" that the marriage "just wasnt fixable"…

You seem to know this is coming but yes, women will 100% divorce a guy the moment theyre making more. It can be 5 cents an hour...it doesn't matter. "But but I made more than her the first 12 years!, and now she makes more in year 13". Irrelevant.

One thing that's super common on here is men saying "well she said do X and Y, so I did, but then she divorced anyways". I'd bet dollars to donuts in the vast majority of those cases (not all, but most) that women throw out the ultimatum, the guy does what she wants, and then she goes: " well sonofabitch, he actually did do X and Y...ehh ill just divorce him anyways"

"Trial" separation means 1. One of the spouses wants to have sex with other people as a "hall pass" then reconcile. 2. one of the spouses wants to divorce but would like to keep the other spouse as a plan B. Also be aware, women have no problem seperating...realizing she's not ready/kids arent old enough/she doesn't make enough money, then getting back together with the guy...waiting 5 years, then finally divorcing.

your ex doesn't give a shit what happens to you. She could not care less. Does that sound like a really great person? If you did that to her, would you be? I'm not trying to make a run at you OP. This is super important for you to realize to prepare for the coming divorce. She does want to divorce, she has known for a long time, and she will milk you for any penny she can get. You need to accept that now. Sure, she'll hit you with the crocodile tears to string you along..but just imagine what sh…

Oh, so she showed you everything to convince you it was after. Wow, I feel so much better now. /s I'm not going to argue with you, because that's not what this sub is for. But I didn't let me ex have that when she made it abundantly clear it was after too. They don't deserve us letting them off the hook to placate their guilt. It undermines our dignity. And I told her she wanst getting that at least.

She is very much one of those individuals. And you need to accept that. She went for it before asking for the separation. I'd bet my life on it.

Got a female friend who has her own business. She tells me what her employees say about their husbands. One wants to divorce her husband, and "hopes he cheats on me". I know the guy, I don't think he would. But I'd imagine in her quest to blame him for the divorce she'll withhold sex. And then maybe two years from now when they've had sex 3 times in that time frame he'll catch him looking at porn and go "I'm shocked and appalled, you ruined our marriage, I have no choice but to divorce!" And he'…
