My reason is that I'm interested in equality. I've tried participating in feminist forums, but being a male who refuses to drink the Kool Aid never turns out well in those places. I find MRAs to be basically after the same things as feminists but a lot less insular as a group.

My mens' rights activism will be intersectional or it will be bullshit! Most of the talk here is about men's rights compared to women's rights, e.g. child custody, so it's not really important to most GTI blokes, but if there are particular issues worth mentioning I believe the sub would be supportive.

I'm not against couples claiming tax benefits due to mutual support / cohabitation arrangements, and I'm not against couples proclaiming their eternal devotion to each other in some sort of civil or religious ceremony, but I don't think the two should be the same thing so I'm pretty much against marriage as we currently practise it. I'm a loony leftie! I used to be a centre leftie but the left moved to the right and I didn't see that they'd solved any problems of inequality so I stayed where I was and became a loonie. Good post. So what we can take away from this is that "rape culture" can mean "a society in which some people have an unwanted social obligation to have unwanted sex". I like that definition better than the hysterical "rapist around every corner" concept that the radfems claim. And yes, I'd say guys can be affected by it too.

She doesn't seem to be claiming actual rape of course, just that metaphorical rape that's so prevalent these days. She's not pressing charges against the nasty culture. Try to see past the word to what she's saying about how she copes with the world she lives in. I take your point about suppression of free speech on campuses. Note though that women need to gang up to get their opinions heard because individually they often fail to do so. Yes, it creates a fucked-up situation for everybody.

This is not as silly as the article suggests. Yes, women are afraid to assert themselves. My understanding is that "male privilege" is very often simply feeling free to say what you want to say. For women that is not so easy, but FFS, we have to believe what someone says, not what they wanted to say.

I suspect I could not do better, which is why I'd decide "this is crap" and dump the project without telling anyone about it. The question is why did she publish it, and I say that's because it matched the prejudices of the group she wanted to publish it to.
