I don't normally respond to such comments but just wow. I don't hang out with homophobes, so I get why women don't want to hang with you. It sucks to have not be able to count on the fact that people are going to care about you, and you don't seem to care about the experiences of women if they challenge your views on men. Like what? This reads like a massive projection. Also, I know they aren't trying to make me feel bad, but that's not the point. Imagine being insulted, degraded and dehumanised…

I live in Denmark and it is difficult to fully assess how issues are overall perceived. Some are perceived positively but I would say most people are neutral towards them. There isn't any real hostility in the public or political discourse, only disagreements from socially conservatives and the feminists and their allies. Conscription is only mandatory for men, and although there is a societal awareness that women should be also conscripted if it's not going to be abolished, the discussion often…

Agree with everyone here; you can't argue with people like this. Perhaps you could kindly remind them that men aren't the number one perpetrators in every single type of violent crime. Such a generalisation is built on generalising violent crime. After all, violence against children -i.e., child abuse/maltreatment, death arising from abuse/maltreatment, and infanticide (especially neonaticide)- have (cishet) women as the number one perpetrators. Society does not endorse caution against mothers (…

I think others answered the question quite well but it made me think of another tactic they employ with increasing frequency. We see feminists appropriating issues that equally affect men and women, and issues that mostly or at times solely afflict men and claim that they're strictly women's issues (DV/PV, sexual violence, suicide, homelessness, homicide, war, etc.). To me, this behaviour seems even worse. It's like a mix of Munchausen syndrome (by proxy) and (collective) narcissism. Perhaps wit…

I just posted quite a lengthy summary on r/Denmark about what happened (more like what did not happen) in terms of men's rights in Denmark and in the world in the past one year. Now I agree that the tone was a little ranty but I was very passionate when compiling all the studies and research that went into that. The reception was (still is) rather mixed. As you could guess. At times, I just feel so hopeless. Because here, and perhaps on r/MensRights may we speak freely about these issues. And I …

I agree. We don't need feminism to evolve and truly encompass male issues because we see now how that is working out i.e. only looking at them from a woman's POV and through the lens of oppression of women. I think the recent event of justifying how women are the sole victims of murder the world should focus on and revolve around (despite being the minority) just because... they feel fear at night. And the streets should be safe only for them, of course. In order for it to be a truly egalitarian…

I appreciate this not attacking toxic masculinity but rather subverting it. You lose a lot of people that otherwise would agree with your points as soon as you threaten the language that's used to talk about these things Why should it matter? Those are probably the same people who insist that we use gender neutral language for job descriptions or when discussing issues that by and large affect men. We have given into their demands. I think it is time we ask them for something in return. If I don…

"Right, that's a product of patriarchy which we want to take down" Ngl, I don't really have a good counter that I like for this one yet. What I would do is to thank powerful feminist institutions and figureheads for "fighting the patriarchy" by actively and relentlessly trying their very best to "uphold it". On top of the Srebrenica and Kosovo massacres that UN refused to aid the men in, remind them of the UN's humanitarian aid guidelines that refuse to mention men even once. Remind them of the …

Just be yourself/yourselves, really. Just the way you are with your straight friends. That's all. Whilst I appreciate your concerns, I don't think I really need any sort of special treatment or extra attention only because I'm attracted to men. That is all to my being gay, nothing more. I would actually feel uncomfortable a little if someone made a conscious effort to make sure I am welcome. I would think they believe that I wouldn't hang out with then in any other situation if my specific needs…

Absolutely. As one comment here already stated it, I've too noticed the inescapable sexualisation and fetishisation of male friendships and/or rivalries. Just think of any prominent fandom (Marvel, Harry Potter, or KPOP) you wish to be a part of and engage in; you will inadvertently encounter the endless fanarts, fanfiction and whatnot depicting two (almost always heterosexual) men in a "romantic" relationship. The reason for them being in a relationship? They are "too friendly" with each other …

I don't know about the comments though. They are either very hostile to fact that it is expensive (which it is) without understanding that it isn't a government funded shelter. Why are they complaining then? There is of course, the mandatory feminist circle-jerk, how everybody is actually a good feminist, blah blah. I don't know what's wrong with r/australia, but I'm glad about the shelter nonetheless!

I simply wanted to show a clear example of how, even in the most equal societies, institutions discriminate against men and boys, and the supposed advocates for equality (the ones with the most powerful voices) stay silent and even pretend not to be aware of these proposals. Whilst simultaneously, even in the face of plenty evidence and blatant double standards, feminists maintain their stronghold over the DV sector. We saw a similar thing happen in the UK recently where one of the largest DV ch…

I must admit I'm probably guilty of wondering this too. There is so much bullshit in heterosexual dating right now that its hard for me to imagine a different environment that seems like it should logically be much simpler (no opposing gender politics) having similar results. That said, I'm not dismissing your case at all, I just find it intriguing how there seem to be similar themes. I have heard the opposite from gay men that learned about heterosexual dating, they said its way less complicate…

I turned 24 last month and I'm still a virgin. And gay. I can't truly relate to what it's like with women if you're straight but I got a lot of raised eyebrows from other gay men and women that I haven't been with anybody. They just can't wrap their head around the fact that in this day and age, as a gay man, I'm still a virgin. They don't seem to understand that I dislike this 'hook-up culture' and am quite against casual sex. I could have had plenty of opportunities but I refuse to sleep with …

Whilst I somewhat agree that some of the angry posts and rants don't add too much to the conversation, I don't think it would be the right thing to ban those type of posts. This sub should be a space for men that allows them to express their frustration and vent a little as well, if not open up about any bad experiences at the hands of a feminist system/institution. I can fully understand their frustration and embitterment even; I don't wish to turn them away. And nor should we. And if they are …
