It's a fucking false dichotomy. I was hit three times as a child, never hard, and each time I learned my fucking lesson. No , this was not abuse. It was mostly about the shame about letting my parents down so much that they hit me, rather than physical pain. The thing about Github is that a lot of the 'utility' users will have no exposure to SJW nonsense. I use github, purely to backup code on a hobby robotics project - no social justice judgement involved. What will suffer is high profile OSS projects that will get invaded by tumblerinas desperate to be "just as good coders as men" by submitting lots of small edits to important pieces of OSS.

Yeah, not to mention, even though a dog is generally a more masculine pet and such, a cat is not a bad thing to have - they do a lot better being left at home while you're working than a dog does. Not to mention, if you maintain frame, ignoring a girl while treating your cat like the princess she is will still set the hamster wheels in motion. Agreed, except it's fairly well established that a mild caloric surplus once a week is good for fat loss. A good "lose a pound a week" diet is not a 500 calorie deficit 7 days a week, a deficit of more like 750 with a surplus of 1000 one day will be a lot easier to adhere to and will preserve muscle mass better than the 500 kcal a day deficit. (both diets have a deficit of 3500 kcal/week, which is 1 pound of fat).

Just do a program like stronglifts or starting strength and you will be fine. 45 minutes of barbell exercises 3 days a week combined with healthy eating, and unless you're massively overweight now you will look like you lift within 3 months, and in 6-9 months you will look pretty good. If you don't know how to safely do the lifts in SL or SS, ask someone at your gym, don't be afraid to admit to your own ignorance.

I think the theory is that by exercising the systems that cause peripheral vasoconstriction you improve their performance under normal circumstances. It also spikes your heart rate, which I guess is a good workout for your heart muscles and your nervous system.
