For one thing, it usually isn't during infancy that a child's guardians realise they can't afford them. There are currently 3.7 million children living in poverty in the UK. There just aren't enough rich people looking to adopt. In any case, it's usually better for both the parents and children that the family remains intact if possible. Family breakup is stressful!
