I agree with what you said but there's a huge difference between not consenting in the moment and revoking consent after the fact and my post never said anything about people revoking consent after the fact but people who were not consenting in the moment. If that was unclear that was my fault because that was not the intention of my post. Revoking consent after the fact is wrong. What I was trying to get across was that there are sometimes reasons where things are missed in moment and that may …

I can't speak on behalf of all rape victims but I can speak for me. My mom raped me from when I was in diapers until I was 10 years old and sold me for $20 a session to other pedophiles. When I tried to tell my aunt and grandma what was happening I was told I had a vivid imagination. When I persisted they told me they were going to send me to a mental institution and lock me up for life. I was a 5 year old child at the time. What I can say about rape victims is that they don't always act logical…

That's so sad. I'm sorry that happened to her. I hope she was able to get help and move through the healing process. Everyone who was a victim needs and deserves to be validated whether they were raped once or multiple times.

I am a woman and I was raped as a child and sold to other pedophiles by my mother. When I told my family what was going on they told me that I had a vivid imagination. When I persisted they threatened to lock me up in a mental institution. I was less than 10 years old at the time. I didn't start speaking up about it until I was in my 30's. Since then I've met many victims of rape both men and women who have had similar experiences whether it's a police officer who didn't believe their story, fam…

I'm glad that you were able to to move past it without the need for professional help. I can definitely understand why you wouldn't feel heard or why you would hesitate to tell anyone. I'm glad you feel comfortable speaking out about it now. A big part of healing is owning what happened and owning the fact that you're not going to let it control your life. Men can be victims and often are. I think most therapists understand that men can be raped or at least I've never met one who didn't understa…

I have worked for six years in various stages of applying for and managing disability, Mediciad, insurance, and TANF benefits for low income and mentally ill people. The claims are laughable at best and those who do mooch the system are few and far between and don't get half as many benefits as these even claim. None of my clients ate or lived well because they couldn't afford it. Most of them had to ration soap and toilet paper because they didn't have much left over after rent. It's not a fun …

That's one piece of the puzzle, for sure. I think quite a few people are too hung up on the feminism side of things and don't spend enough time talking about solutions. I completely get why people are angry at the feminist movement but it does no good to argue with someone who isn't listening. For every one person who doesn't want to listen there are a dozen more who would be open to hearing what you have to say, but a lot of people are directing their anger in places where they're not going to …

The findings are not surprising to me at all since there are few consequences for women abusers. The sad truth is that for men as well as women there are gaps in the laws that make it more difficult to get away from your abuser and protect yourself as well as make sure that your abuser is appropriately punished. There is a serious lack of resources for men and even though women have a lot of resources it's still lacking in a lot of ways for them as well. There's simply a lot of things we need to…

I am a childhood rape survivor who is also female. The term survivor is not a feminist term but a healing term. As you are moving through the healing process of any sexual assault you go through a wide range of emotions from depression, PTSD, suicidal thoughts, unwanted flashbacks of the rape, and an inability to function normally. Some days it's a struggle just to get up and eat and take a shower. A lot of people find themselves unable to hold down a job as they move through the healing process…

That's incredibly sad. I'm so sorry for your loss. My fiancé was 12 or 13 when he first learned about it and was happy that both his parents were medical professionals and would never do that to someone. After learning what they look like and what was lost that's when he realized he was cut. I encouraged him to confront his parents and his dad patted him on the back and said "well son, that's water under the bridge now. It's time to get over it." When he confronted his mom she got annoyed that h…

I believe it's possible. There hasn't been anyone that has given me a good reason why it wouldn't be possible under the 14th amendment equal protection clause using the following as a basis for damage done as this is a list of all damage done when a person is circumcised even if it's 100% successful. http://www.norm.org/lost.html Also, there have been successful class action lawsuits in the past. I have brought this up a few times on reddit and the feedback I hear from other men is that they fee…

Everyone comes to justice in their own way I suppose. For some people legal action is not their route and that's okay.
/r/MensRights02/06/15 09:19 PM

I understand your skepticism and frustration as you all have come to legal dead ends before but it has been done successfully before. Also, there has been a decrease in the number of circumcisions done per year which means that for whatever reason the attitudes are changing. Chase and Heather Hiromnius have been in the news recently nationally and I know plenty of people who are upset about that so it's fresh in a lot of people's minds. If you all don't stand up for your own rights then who will…

This really isn't an issue of being right or wrong. It's an issue of the law and the law is black or white on this issue. It's either an offense that can be brought up on a class action suit or isn't. The guy has yet to respond to why it wouldn't be a class action lawsuit but he has responded to others. I'm hoping that people will go over there to that thread and express support and interest under the 14th amendment clause and say hey I'd be interested in signing up for that. He's probably not g…
/r/MensRights02/06/15 08:48 PM

I'm thinking it violates the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment of the constitution and is a human rights violation. It has also been successfully done in the U.S. before but they were only focusing on botched circumcisions.

/r/MensRights26/05/15 04:19 AM

I can completely understand where your frustration comes from, but you can't change everyone's minds or make them see your point of view. There are plenty of people you can educate though and your time would be better spent focusing on those people instead. If that person was against men entirely it was unlikely you were going to change their view at all.

Tell her you don't want any contact whatsoever first thing. Make it clear that you don't want texts, calls, emails, or her showing up. Document when you did this as this will be important. Record or save any time she contacts you. Remind her that you want no contact and let her know if she continues you will call the police. If she continues take your documented evidence to the police and file harassment charges. If you feel threatened get a restraining order.

That's awful and insensitive. I'm sorry that happened to you. My fiancé's parents acted in a similar manner when he told them he was unhappy he was circumcised and how it has affected him. They now get anti circumcision books every Christmas and for their birthdays. For the sake of your marriage I wouldn't suggest you do that, but it is how my fiancé chooses to deal with it.

Foreskins are also used to make cosmetics like lipstick, over the counter facial creams, and hair care products. It's also used for skin grafts for burn victims. It's also used in place of animal testing for different cosmetic products. It seems to me that it's not just women who have a vested interest in foreskins but also the doctors or hospital who get a double profit from doing the procedure then selling the foreskin to different companies. As a parent, did you consent to your son's foreskin…
/r/MensRights15/05/15 06:06 AM

I'm so sorry that happened to you. You report that you did not consent to the condom being taken off and didn't notice until afterwards that she did. Do not take a shower or wash your penis because that's evidence. Do call the national sex abuse hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE for resources about seeing a therapist or to talk to someone for support.

If they sleep through the procedure then why do they need to be strapped down all throughout the procedure? It seems to me that if it was painless and the baby was asleep that they wouldn't need to be strapped down. http://www.circumcision.org/response.htm

With all the attention this case is getting I wonder if doctors will have any second thoughts performing the procedure on this boy. There are a lot of people angry over the decisions that have been made in this case and I'm sure a portion of them won't be shy in expressing those opinions either by way of protests, letter writing, or other forms of activism. I would imagine that this could bring a lot of negative attention to whomever performs the surgery or the hospital involved.

I've been with both uncircumcised guys and circumcised guys and as a woman I've never heard of any uncircumcised guy saying they got made fun of. If anything the women I've ran into are curious about it because they've never seen one before and are rather pleased by it. If a simple circumcision was all that was needed to prevent STD's then America and Africa would be one of the safest places to have unprotected sex. Condoms prevent STD's not circumcisions. Teach your children about safe sex prac…

Honestly some people want to remain in the dark about certain issues for a multiple number of reasons. Your best bet is to avoid the issue with her because in all likelihood she's not going to see your point of view because she doesn't want to hear it. You can continue to raise awareness through your school, through friends, through information sharing, through protests, or helping victims to make your voice be heard. Back in the day before there was a big push for awareness of domestic violence often times when police were called they would refuse to get involved because it was considered a family matter. From the 1960's until today there has been more awareness raised about what leads to domestic violence as well as what can happen after a domestic disturbance occurs. The laws and police force decided to take a new approach and allow 24 hours of time for the male to let the female gather the necessary suppl…

I worked social work for six years. I saw a lot of women get child support but not alimony and the child support they did get was barely enough to pay for day care let alone other expenses for the child. The mothers I saw were working sometimes two and three jobs and living off of welfare and living in section 8 housing while their ex husbands made $40,000, $50,000, $60,000 a year. I think there's a difference depending on what the circumstances are. Everyone's circumstances are different and ev…

First off, I'm sorry that you were circumcised. Nobody should have to go through that unless it was a medical necessity. Have you looked into restoring your foreskin? It helped my fiancé work through the grieving period once he realized exactly what was lost and helped him regain sensitivity. You are spot on with your criticism of feminism. I think that's why education is so important. If you take a look at pretty much any social issue there was a time where it was widely accepted like racism, domestic violence, slaves, marital rape, homosexuality, and sexual harassment in the workplace. It took some time and a lot of education but things are arguably better now than say the 1950's. It is so important for the men's rights movement to continue to speak out and make their issues known so that we can create resources and promote chang…

I see things getting better but it's a slow progress. It's difficult not to get wrapped up in the us versus them fight. When we're united we can do anything but if we get into battles trying to win over the extremes we lose what we're fighting for because that's a lost cause. I see a lot of angry people on this sub and rightfully so. Sometimes I think they lose sight of what they're fighting for and get lost in the finer details like the article that was posted. There's a definite need for more resources for men. Women have domestic violence shelters and sex assault groups they can attend. Men are faced with finding people who understand their problems let alone have some resources to get out of a bad situation or protect themselves.

I agree. However, some people are willing to change their thoughts and opinions when shown a different point of view. This is the reason why educating women on men's issues is so important to the movement. Not every woman is going to jump on board and some will continue to try to try to shout down the voices but you'll also be amazed at how many allies you can create as well. Women don't necessarily have to be the enemy but I do realize you're up against some very extreme feminists. I've also no…

You can't change everyone's hearts and minds. There are still extremes from both camps of males and females. Just look at /r/rapingwomen and /r/beatingwomen for a taste of what's out there. There will always be those in the extreme feminism camp that will hold onto the ideology that men can't be victims. If you can get the overall majority of people to agree on issues and not worry about the extreme camps of either gender then you will see great changes happen such as more resources for men and …

I see it changing all the time but when you're in that uphill battle it's difficult to notice the changes. Circumcision rates are going down, I'm seeing more information about statistics of male sexual assault and domestic violence, and you are able to have more open conversations about those subjects versus it being a thing that nobody talk about especially not other guys.
/r/MensRights01/06/14 04:24 PM

That's exactly the reason why education is so important. Women have done a really good job at pointing out what obstacles they face but I have to seek out the male voice if I want to hear it. The woman's voice is everywhere from school lectures to pamphlets. I never once heard a male victim of violence come forward and speak when I was in school to show me that men also get raped. I don't see pamphlets about male domestic violence or sexual assault. The only way to change things is to continue t…

I am a woman and the victim of childhood sex abuse. This was painful for me to read because I can't imagine denying anyone their feelings nor denying them the support they need in order to move forward and heal just because they have different genitalia than I do. This is just sick and makes me feel ashamed. We can do better as a society than this.

I may be in the wrong here but couldn't that be said about pretty much any show and not just The Big Bang Theory? I can't really think of any show where some of the characters don't have some character flaw or personality trait that the show used to move the plot line forward. I also think you're missing the fact that The Big Bang Theory also likes to make fun of the women just as much as the guys. If the guy was truly racist and sexist then being exposed to different points of views and ways of thinking is not necessarily a bad thing. This sounds like a man who is willing to look at his own world views and change his thoughts and opinions accordingly. In his research maybe he will come to understand that most issues affect everyone and not just one gender specifically. J…

That's horrible. Did you ever counter him on that? What was his response and are you still friends? Most of the guards I encountered thought of inmates as society's garbage and it was their duty to take out the trash. The mentality is sickening and disgusting.
/r/MensRights23/05/14 04:13 PM

I've worked in two different prisons and what I saw was downright abusive. I brought it through the chain to the warden and was told I was too offender friendly. Guards are especially bad about letting power go to their head in thinking they're morally superior. We've all done something that would land us in jail if we were caught. For some that's smoking pot in high school or college. For others it's having one too many beers and getting behind the wheel when you're legally over the limit by on…

I have worked in two different prisons, a domestic violence shelter, and a mental health center. I don't see how anyone can live in the world and not see that both genders can be equally good and bad and can also be victims. It honestly just baffles me. My early experiences were with cut guys. I think that's a valid point though. If the man washes before sex then there is no smell or anything nasty. Also for me sex just feels better when the guy is uncut compared to cut. Cut guys tend to take longer strokes which don't give my gspot and clit as much attention so I orgasm quicker, better, and harder when the guy is uncut versus cut.

Your financial situation and ability to be a father are temporary. You will eventually graduate, get a job, and get someplace to live. The time you miss with your child you will never get back. They will only have one first step, first word, first birthday, first tricycle, etc. Those are moments that you will never, ever be able to get back. I believe you would create a superior race of men and an inferior race of females who eventually after generations of this will become unappealing. You as men gain the understanding and knowledge of how to be a good partner and you are forced to pick from a sea of females who have the 8th grade equivalent of what a relationship should be and the communication skill set to go with it. Speaking as a woman, I hate the practice of circumcision for all people. I think it's an abhorrent practice. My fiancé restored his foreskin (yes it is possible) and I noticed how much better our sex life is. I have been with uncircumcised guys and circumcised guys and I don't think I could ever be with another circumcised guy ever again. Even if he brings me to orgasm the sex is just BAD.
