The article is saying the criticism is coming because such behavior isn't "impartial" from a judge. The trial had already concluded and Guyger was convicted when the embrace happened. It's okay to to behave with some human empathy and compassion. I can't believe the absolute cruelty of people. The deceased family even came up and spoke with the convicted and forgave her, but people who have no familial or physical connection to the trial will say that the convicted should suffer alone after clea…

I wore the same blouse/skirt combo to my job interview and post-offer onboarding with the same male employer. He complimented my outfit both times without a hint of memory. Clearly I found my vibe.

I think what happened is that TRP has ham fisted together some workable outlines of incomplete theories that give confused men just enough tools to improve their sex lives. The problem is that some people wanted to color in between the useful but imperfect outlines with extreme politics and emotional projections of women's personal experience, and now the picture is an ugly mess, instead of a janky but useful map. I think you just nailed it.

It may not be necessary for the short game, but to establish a meaningful relationship with someone in a long term context, it very much is necessary. Otherwise what you're communicating is, "I don't care about understanding how you think and feel, I only care about giving you the response that manipulates you into doing the thing I want you to do." Which is sociopathic no matter who does it. As far as RP not requiring understanding in their beliefset, while they may not require it, they sure li…

This is a major issue I've had on both ideological sides: It's not entirely fair to claim that you intimately understand how the opposite sex feels or interprets things, and even further, it varies by person within that biological sex. The best you can do is be empathetic and sympathetic as you work toward understanding, but also accept that there are perceptual innuendos that you won't ever be fully understanding of. It's not wrong or bad, it just is because people are inherently different.

It bothers me because you're stating it like that is the primary motivation of a lot of women. Five percent could be significant, but analyses would need to support that. Throwing out opinions on data that doesn't exist like it's a fact bothers me more than the subject matter, honestly. If you're making up a situation based on your own perceptions, it's not data and shouldn't be presented as such.

There are very few researchers who have looked at college educated kids AND the trades specifically for people opting out of college in lieu of trades. I'll wait on that citation with you.

Women aren't poorly adapted to using cranes or welding torches or being a mechanic, dude. Many women in construction specifically note how little sexism there is there relative to something like video game culture. There's sexism everywhere toward men and women alike, but not necessarily more in trades. Marriage. Really.

Exactly. I'm a woman and am finishing my masters, but I really enjoy metal work and would probably love a job as a welder. Looking back on my life, should have totally done that. If I did, does that mean I made a poor life choice by not going to college? No. It means I got training in something equally or more lucrative (let's not forget fulfilling) outside of this educational system that we delusional think makes and qualifies a good worker. Sure, campuses are becoming more female-oriented in m…

I'll agree that the argument for race is solid because racial profiling by officers is a huge issue, but men commit more crime than women overall, specifically violent crimes which are easier to prosecute due to the often gory nature of the crime and the amount of evidence left. Crime sucks, going to jail sucks, but consider this data in light of the proportion of people who are actually committing the crimes before grabbing a pitchfork.

No, specific people who subscribe to feminism are douches, just like specific people who subscribe to atheism, men's rights movement, christianity, or anything else can be douches. Every single person that associates with something isn't a douche by proxy of one or two incidents.

Blackwater has gone through a lot of name changes after bad press, but they're now called Academi. Monsanto may be affiliated with them, but in the papers I've read and the research I've done, I've never seen anything about Monsanto being in any ownership position with any iteration of the company.

I grew a lot of my own food because of this. Being in an apartment now means I can't grow as much, but there are safer pesticides to use than RoundUp, but Monsanto owns the entire agribusiness.

Gut bacteria is established from parental diet in utero as well as epigenetics. I respect that there are other reasons for obesity other than eating shitty food, but eating crap food is definitely a source of it. Fast food, liquor, and all sorts of other things also help to destroy gut flora or alter the gastrointestinal environment to accommodate gut flora of a specific type. These flora are not the most conducive to extracting the most nutritional bang for your caloric buck so you get crap nut…

I think it was wrong from the get go to have only men in combat positions, but I don't think citing that "historically" men have been the ones dying is appropriate in a modern context. It wasn't until recently that women could go to the front lines which means it was a governmental and military issue, not a women forcing men up there issue. That's not something I see as an attack against men stemming from feminism. I see that more as an attack against men because of masculine stereotypes that we…
/r/MensRights19/07/13 03:58 PM

The combat ones are dodgy as well. For a long time (historically) women weren't allowed in the military, so naturally the people who are in the military will die more frequently than the ones who aren't.

I don't know if this is completely accurate or not, but I read that most men have prostate cancer past 50. It's usually fairly benign though, so, like you said, it's something you die with but the cancer itself isn't the cause of death. Breast cancer is more fatal, but I think the focus on that is because it happens to tits instead of say your gall bladder, or lungs, or something like that.

any woman who is financially supported by a man is a prostitute Sounds like bullshit to me. By that logic, if my boyfriend loses his job and is supported by me, then he's a prostitute too. Saying I'm an MRA and a feminist is me saying than men and women alike should be able to babysit their nieces and nephews in a park and not be considered pedophiles. If men sitting in that park are immediately condemned as pedophiles, then women should be treated the same way. If not at all, that's equality, a…

I'm an atheist, but I don't post there because my religious beliefs are my business and I don't particularly care to share that. Mainly because I don't care what other people have to say about it. First, I want to apologize for misreading part of that and thinking those were your views. My b, holmes. I don't think most reasonable feminists think women can't get to the top on their own or that sex is entirely power-driven. Personally, I think blow jobs are the shit and are no more degrading than my boyfriend giving me head. Sex is about pleasure, however you may derive that, and most reasonable people, feminists included, would likely agree with that. That said, one thing that I see across…

It's sexual harassment if the touching and comments go so far as the make the woman uncomfortable. Same goes for men cosplaying. If there are chicks randomly stroking their abs or grabbing at their ass or junk, that's entirely inappropriate. Looking is part of the cosplay experience; you want to see what other people are dressed, how good it is, and how well the personify the character.
/r/MensRights24/04/13 03:52 AM

Perhaps that's more of a result of pitying women and allowing them to call out while men are expected to be strong and tough it out to come in.

Crazy how we must be the only two women in the world who are ever wrong. I need to find out about this always being right thing. It sounds nice.
/r/MensRights15/12/12 04:00 AM

Reality is that no group of people fits under a single stereotype. By damning women as you did, you're damning a group of people who also have a vested interest in the men's rights movement.
/r/MensRights14/12/12 05:54 PM

Maybe if we move past the pretty insults we could work toward that, sure, but when you tell me that I'm not a rational human being and I will never admit my faults due to some magical estrogen voodoo effect, I'm not too inclined to give a shit about you. Edit: Black or hispanic. Welp.
/r/MensRights14/12/12 05:34 PM

As a woman, I do admit my mistakes. Thanks for the bullshit stereotype. Back on topic, the organizations I worked for have all taken sexual assault very seriously regardless of sex. I have worked with men who have been groped amd they reported it and the woman got a reprimand in her file. She did it again and got fired. Set a precedent in your office and report it.

And a lot of people do. My friends and I on Steam have L4D2, Killing Floor, and TF2 servers where we admin so people aren't vote kicking for no reason other than douchery and so people who aren't immature 12 year olds can come in and actually play without dealing with mic spam. Most people are generally are cool on servers, but it's the younger male crowd that tends to be the most idiotic and trollish. And most women aren't drama queens about it. That's like saying all Christians are radicals.

Maybe. Here in GA I haven't seen many bathrooms that aren't "Family Rooms" that have changing tables, let alone advertise it. My boyfriend says that he's seen a few, but I don't go in the men's bathroom often, so I'll trust him on that.

As someone with a vagina and a degree in psychology: What. If anything, men are less selfish because they complete at a significantly higher rate than women. Women commit--or attempt to commit, as the case may be--suicide largely as a call for attention to attract help. Men do it because they're actually wanting to die and have no issue with using more violent and powerful methods (guns vs pills).
/r/MensRights17/06/12 10:02 PM

This is how I always viewed it. I'm a chick who grew up with two brothers, both older, so banter, jabs, insults, whatever aren't new to me. Women have a buffer for things like this, too, which isn't mentioned. Never underestimate the power of a phrase like "Go fuck yourself" in such situations. Everyone in today's world needs to harden the fuck up.
