It wouldn't need to be mandatory, but just standard procedure. If you explicitly did NOT want it, then you could sign an opt-out waiver. But otherwise it would be done every time just normally. MS isn't always a death sentence. With proper diet, physical activity as much as possible, and drug therapies to support that healthy lifestyle, it can be held at bay. Of course, everyone's case is different, but it's not all doom and gloom. Join a slef-help group, irl or at least a forum. Experiences from others with MS can be invaluable.
