What do you think is the purpose of makeup, hair dye, implants, and Botox? To display their age and signs of fertility accurately?

Beautifully said. This is also a good response to that other post about why do men feel so terrible anytime they make a woman even a little uncomfortable.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/26 10:06 AM

Here we are being told women use sex primarily as a bargaining chip and wouldn’t have sex if they weren’t getting something else of value in exchange. Tomorrow we will be told women are just as horny as men and have sex because they enjoy the experience itself. Just trying to keep things straight here…

If their husband stops paying them in housing, food, medical care… they have already lobbied the government to force the ex-husband (or even boyfriend) to continue to pay them or face jail without a trial. They do get paid and are guaranteed to continue to be paid even after their duties as a wife end.

If she isn’t being fairy compensated then why does she agree to do it again and again and again? If she’s making an informed choice freely, shouldn’t she accept the consequences of that choice? Don’t feminists believe in accountability? Women have the choice of getting a real job OR staying home. Now feminists are trying to have their cake and eat it too by both staying home and getting paid as if they were working a real job. This isn’t an argument made in good faith. Feminists will never be sa…

Exactly. No matter what type of a person you are, being with a confident man is better than an unconfident one. Confidence -> status and money -> better chance of the woman’s children with that man surviving -> genes attracted to confidence are passed on to

Agreed. Part of the reason is the human brain uses the same categorization mechanism to identify both moral shortcomings and sexual unsuitability: the emotion of disgust. Because disgust is used as a litmus test in both moral and sexual situations, they can become intertwined as your examples showed.

I hear you. However we should think critically about whether the media creates our appetite for male violence, or whether our preexisting appetites shape the media. Unfortunately violence, and more specifically violence against and by men, has been a part of our species since before mass media, art, or civilization itself. This isn’t a problem caused by modern media trends. If anything, being disgusted by violence is what is novel. I wish as much as you that this type of violence was not as norm…

But women do make a big deal out of it too. That is why they are so protective of it. Crimes are given a more severe designation if they are sexual in nature. Sex itself is a crime if many number of conditions are not met. Sex is very important to both sexes. They just want it distributed in different ways and different amounts.

Suicide attempts often occur after a large loss of status: loss of a job, divorce, large public humiliation of some sort. While women can experience these same types of events, their status doesn’t drop as dramatically because their status isn’t tied to their job or marriage like a man’s is. Women’s status is more stable while men’s status is more variable. Too much downward variability triggers suicide.

Simply having money will not help you. Women are attracted to men with money WHO WILL SPEND IT ON HER. Demonstrate you are willing to spend money on a woman and they will find that attractive. This is the advantage of buying a flashy car, clothes, vacations… it demonstrates you not only have money but have no problems spending it (on her!)

“We want partners” except for all the stay at home wives who are happy to be dependent on their “daddy”. Who is more likely to be the stay at home spouse? The wife or the husband?

Longer answer: there will virtually always be more sexually mature men in a population then sexually mature women. Therefore a man will have to compete against other men to be with one of these women. What does competition require? Improving yourself. It isn’t political movement or social conspiracy to blame. Just simple game theory.

All sexually reproducing species value sex because it is how they pass on their genes. Genes that discourage reproduction are not passed on. It’s that simple.

Emergencies only heighten our instincts, and protecting women is one of those instincts. Unfortunately shit hitting the fan will only increase the coddling of women. Look at the titanic gender survival ratio. Or any country in a war or poverty today. No matter how bad things get, people will always go out of their way to protect women, leaving men with the short straw. It’s a behavior that transcends politics, geography or time period. For better or worse it’s in our DNA and it’s here to stay.

The more choices women have to choose their career, the LESS likely they are to choose tech/engineering. More liberal countries show the genders becoming less similar in career choice, not more. The data just doesn't support your explaination.

This also explains why retirement communities have a reputation for being highly promiscuous. It isn’t because people stop giving a shit about STDs as they age, it’s because the sex ratio there favors the men’s dating strategy since women outnumber men at that age bracket.

Men’s rights aren’t at stake because they were never on the table to begin with. Yes, women deserve the right to safe abortions but men’s right to a paper abortion has never even been discussed on a national stage. Women aren’t going to lose any rights this election that men haven’t already been denied.

Yes but once they finish school, women are more likely than men to drop out of medicine within the first several years. Meaning the women will be earning less than men who continue to work. source

But women have the advantage in safety and medical care too. Look at life expectancy, workplace injuries, rates of violent crime victims, medical facilities dedicated to women's health, women's shelters, government funding specifically for women... And they have the same career and financial opportinites as men.

20yo men aren’t just dating other 20yo women. And 60yo men aren’t just dating other 60yo women. Men of all ages are competing for women in their 20s and 30s. When you realize this it becomes apparent that the gender ratio in practice is nowhere near even. Add to this the fact that multiple women will share the same man (unknowingly or knowingly) and the ratio skews even more. Notice that none of these factors have to do with the men’s character or hygiene or whatever other personal failings peop…

Men leaving the dating market makes the men still in the market in more demand. Now that men are more in demand, more men will re-enter the market. The effects balance each other until equilibrium is reached.

If there are more men competing for a limited number of women, some men are going to be left out no matter what. It says nothing about whether those men need to "improve themselves" or not. They could all hypothetical be 10/10 men and the same number would be left single. It's just math.

Watch some of the show The Bachelor. You can see how women’s dating strategies change when they outnumber men. They adopt men’s behaviors like bringing gifts, telling jokes/using humor and being more assertive. They also lower their barriers for sex/intimacy since just like in economics, competition lowers prices. Competition with other women lowers the “price” of sex for the man.

These people have never read a evo psych paper or picked up a textbook. It’s really sad how much science denial is accepted around this topic. These same people would ridicule someone for denying climate science or vaccine science but when those same scientific tools are applied to studying human behavior suddenly science denial is ok.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/05/24 09:47 AM

Exactly. It isn’t about “should” or a moral question. It’s economics. If one person’s time or attention is in demand, then other people will end up paying for some of it. When multiple people want the same thing, the price for that thing rises. Prices are determined this way all the time.

Humans definitely have courtship rituals like other animals. It's no coincidence the males of so many species use displays of strength, resource acquisition, and intentionally putting themselves in dangerous situations to attract females. The more animal rituals you learn about the more similarities you will notice with humans.

Men and women alike are programmed by evolution to care more about women’s issues than men’s. It’s instinct: the same way you care more about your family than strangers, or care more about a young child than an adult. Male feminists don’t have an ulterior motive. They genuinely care more about women than themselves. The same way you don’t have an ulterior motive when you prioritize your children over yourself. It’s biology. Feminism is just the way that biological instinct is expressed.

Females of a species have a higher minimum parental investment (pregnancy is costlier than ejaculation) and are therefore evolved to be more selective than males when choosing mates. Women would rather share a man with many resources rather than have a poor man all to herself. The low status men don’t reproduce.

It makes a little more sense when you consider they aren’t ranking men’s attractiveness again just other men, but against the whole population including other women. Even straight women get turned on by other women. So when you ask them to rank men, you implicitly asking them to rank the lower 50% of potential partners, which explains the average attraction rating being so low.

They want power. There’s no finish line or set list of demands because there’s always more power to be had. They use peoples sense of fairness to gain that power. “Look how unfair the word is against me! If you value fairness, give me some more power. That will balance the fairness.” The specific issue does not matter. Stats don’t matter. Whether things are improving or not does not matter. Reality does not matter. I agree! “Scientists disagree with each other all the time! Therefore there is no distinction between scientific facts and my personal superstitions.” That is how these arguments against the red pill sound to me. Was the red pill in the matrix movie undefinable? Or was it clearly shown to represent the reality of the world, and all the inconvenient truths and suffering that come with it? Scientists argue with each other all the time about what position is correct but there is still an easily definable separation between what is science and what is a comforting piece of folklore. I think it’s a great metaphor. Blue pillers wake up in their bed and believe whatever they want to believe. Red pillers value k…

“Higher minimum parental investment.” Lots of good research available on the topic. The sex of a species with higher minimum parental investment will evolve to be choosier when selecting mates because they have fewer redos if they choose poorly. Read about this phenomenon in other species and it will help you see human dynamics in a new light.

If the two columns were “Myths” and “Reality” would everything fit into two columns then? Misconceptions vs facts? Folklore vs science? I think a two column system can work great, and does in many other areas of study.

My advice would be go where the gender ratio is high women-to-men. If men are scarce you will become more desirable to women simply from being more rare. Let supply and demand work in your favor.

“Autonomy over one’s body” applies to this argument as well. The man doesn’t have autonomy over his body if he’s being forced to go to work to pay for child support.

The "logic" comes from our evolutionary past as hunter-gatherers when we didn't have guns or police to protect us. Only our male relatives and "husband" would. Our mate preferences are tuned to the logic of that past environment, not our current one.

Women are attracted to money and status. Once a lot of men start directing a lot of money and attention at something (video games, football) that's where women will want to position themselves to intercept that attention. Women don't want to be in male spaces that aren't profitable (like video games were before streaming was possible).

Yep. The more men that choose to not chase after women, the higher the reward for those that do. It's a self-correcting process that reaches a steady-state equilibrium. There's no point in trying to tell people to be less thirsty when the optimal level of thirstiness is already predetermined and can't be changed by a single actor. It's analagous to an economic market setting a price for a good. The market price is out of any single seller or buyers control and there's no point in simply telling …

But that’s not a good explanation because you could just as easily argue the reverse cause. So it’s less common because it’s less acceptable? If it was more common it would naturally be more acceptable because there would be more bisexuals to accept it. Are there more fat people now because people philosophically became more accepting of fat people or did the fat acceptance movement only take off because the number of actual fat people reached a tipping point in the population? Which direction o…

I highly recommend reading The Blank Slate by Steven Pinker. He pushes back against the prevalent idea to view all behavior as learned while ignoring biology’s role. Feminists don’t identify as Blank Slatists but once you’ve read the book you’ll notice blank slate arguments are used all the time.

The reason is biology. The same way women are biologically more likely to scream in fear or cry, men are biologically programmed to respond to these cues and go to help them. It isn't a conspiracy and it isn't societal training or feminism's teachings. Caring more for womens issues is written in our genes.

Hatred of Africans isn't what caused slavery in America. It's not like they thought "here's are people who look different therefore I hate them therefore they should be enslaved." They were enslaved because it was economically and politically feasible to do so. The hatred came later as a justification for the enslavement. If it wasn't so profitable to own slaves no one would have bothered. And if feeing hatred toward slaves didn't provide a benefit (by providing a moral justification to themselv…

Zoology. It should be obvious from studying other species that the males and females have different mating strategies and that these strategies are often to the detriment of the opposite sex. So to then approach human mating with the philosophy of “All you need is a good heart and you’ll find your one true love and your marriage will last forever” you should be very skeptical because the animal kingdom is full of the same types of mating patterns occurring again and again among species and that …

Exactly! In our evolutionary history, being a tall strong confident man was a better predictor of being able to successfully provide resources for a woman and her children’s well-being, so that is what women evolved to find sexy. In our modern environment, the most successful men aren’t the strongest or necessarily tallest but are the smartest and most hard working.
