exact same thing happened to me. I kept being very friendly with her. Eventually she broke up with her bf and then she became my gf. we broke up eventually, and i was crushed for a long time. I manned up and grew as a person. now she's one of my closest lifelong best friends. i would have missed out on all of that if i had just stopped talking to her.

I once randomly said "I'm going to kiss you at this red light until it turns green and someone behind us honks" and it worked out really well

i've been planning on doing this in May.

Nervousness goes away with practice - it's the only way. Keep approaching.

Yes! It hurts to see a girl I am attracted to woefully slouch

Why not just tell her? Despite her new bf.

I ask because i've observed this same connection between intense passion/sensuality/intimacy and craziness/bitchiness/meanness in my past relationships. Some girls are closer to the center for both, and others are closer to the extremes. I'm searching for one that is deeply passionate without all the drama. I'm wondering if my search is largely futile.

so is what you are saying that with romantic passion / sweetness / kindness comes bitchiness / meanness / craziness? It's impossible to have one without the other?

However sweet a girl can be -- is precisely how vicious she can be too. Please elaborate - I am intrigued.

Despite being deeply introspective and thoughtful, one of the smartest decisions I've made in my life was to see a therapist for a few months. (I'm in Canada and I found one that was paid for entirely by the government.) It could help you, too.

Does BJJ involve learning how to break people's bodies and/or is there a high potential for you to break your own body while learning it? I ask because I don't care much for the fighting aspect as much as i do for the exercise and control over ones own body. (Not interested in poking out eyes or breaking elbows.)

Two concerns: Sometimes when I start a conversation it will end up going farther than I want, or I'll want to talk to someone else now. How do you gracefully end conversations with strangers? Sometimes I'm just NOT in the mood to talk to anyone and would like to get on with my day without having a daily conversation with the gas station cashier. I never know how to politely avoid convos when I'm not in the mood.

i was thinking about this earlier today actually. confidence isn't a lack of nervousness, it's a belief in self that it can be overcome.

Step 1) Commit that you are going to do this no matter what, so that in your mind backing out is literally not an option. Step 2) Enter "I'm just gonna have fun with this interaction" mindframe.

a neg is a "playful" backhanded compliment. a tease is not a backhanded compliment.

that video made me feel happy to be alive. that moment when a chunk of people join in and everyone starts cheering, i got goosebumps. that incredible, spontaneous unity is one of the best things about a) being with a bunch of humans and b) being with a bunch of humans with loud music

I once read that responding "sure" instead of "okay" or similar confirmatory responses when someone is telling you something makes you look smarter (it sounds like you already know what they're talking about, but not belittling it). I've incorporated it into my conversations and can't say for sure it helps as I like to think I'm always improving, but it certainly doesn't hurt. Sure

I would suggest that on your next date, you just tell her flat out that you wanted to kiss her previously but you got shy. Given her extreme degree of IOIs there is a 99% chance she'll respond positively. Just make that statement, wait for her to blush and smile, and before she can say anything in response, swoop in and kiss her. Don't worry about being smooth or about any elaborate transition. Tell her directly you want to (or wanted to) kiss her and then do it.

Do it like its HOMEWORK. Ordinarily, this is the worst way to approach this situation - but you actually like this girl and can't work up the nerve. Therefore, it is the best advice for this situation. Convince yourself that the event of kissing her is going to happen, period. No options.

Yeah I did that too. There's an interesting dynamic there where guys promote and share eye contact with you for many moments longer than you are used to in the outside world. Interesting feeling to be constantly checked out. I did this once and I found myself giving out a fake number! I don't even know how the conversation escalated to that.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
