Exactly. I've always gone with complimenting something they made a decision on. Dress, hair, & purse all line up perfectly.

This is precisely what has happened to me. Started small by trying to read 1 book per month & hit the gym at least 3 times a week. This started about 6 months ago & at some point the amount I trust myself instead of seeking outside advice exploded. I finally look up to myself again. I have also been substitute teaching for the last month in between jobs so it's helped remembering who I was in grade school & how much I have overcame & accomplished since then!

That’s what I’m saying. Sometimes I get that quick boost of confidence online, but it works in the exact opposite way too. It takes the “not everyone is attracted to you” rule and magnifies it because, attraction has many components, and online apps focus heavily on your appearance instead of any sort of emotional/ mental qualities. I think I need to switch from going on tinder & shit when I’m feeling lonely to when I’m feeling confident.

Thanks for this post, summed up my Saturday night quite well. I’ve finally got my confidence back, got over a lot of AA, and was honestly just shocked at how well my first approach in forever went and how well our conversation was going. I then found several excuses to not escalate and just keep the good chat going and, at the end of the night, we both ended up with our friends and. Here’s to learning along the way.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
