You aren’t listening friend. It will not work out like you are thinking it will. The people giving you advice have been through the dissolution of a marriage. You need to divorce her, take your lumps, realize it will affect you and your kids, and move on. If your idea worked more people would do it

I’m 52 and my gf is 34. We’ve been together 3 years

The opposite of love is indifference not hate. Woman want attention- ANY attention good or bad- if you ignore them it’s the worst thing you can do to them. I think you did great make sure you keep it up 👍

Yes my kids are 17 and 19 but they certainly noticed much earlier.

My ex wife does the same shit. My kids recognize and point out her bullshit without me saying a thing. If I ignore her she behaves, if I engage she ratchets up the nonsense. I decided to pretend she doesn’t exist for the most part. It has helped my mental health tremendously because she is the only person in the world that causes me stress

You really need to start preparing RIGHT NOW for the worst and maybe be pleasantly surprised if it goes well. If you don’t you will regret it, trust me

I sent mine a Venmo for $500 for my daughter’s doctor bill, she drags her feet to pay it but doesn’t hesitate to send me a Venmo for $3. She’s just angry I’m happy and doing well, and have a much younger girlfriend. The only way to get her to behave is to ignore her

My ex was behaving more or less until I got a beautiful 34 year old Latina girlfriend. She went bananas after that lol. I just ignore her. Thankfully my kids are 16 and 18.

I’ve dated 3 women since my divorce, two were still legally separated and not even divorced yet (Virginia makes you wait a year), the third had been divorced a few years. All three wanted sex all the time and we’re willing to do whatever I wanted. I think their subconscious kicks in and they realize they need to try to lock a man down with lots of sex

Take the wedding ring off and these fridged ex wives can’t get enough sex.

Were you dating my ex wife? Woman takes zero accountability for anything, has never apologized to anyone in her life and meant it

I used to braid my daughter's hair for her when she was little. It's not rocket science and kind of fun

I get to parent and interact with my kids how I want. I told them that they were going to meet the “real” me, not the depressed miserable version. I have tons more free time and money. I do things I want to do, buy things I want to buy. If a woman I’m dating isn’t working out, I can just break up with her. So yes, it does get better. My kids have adapted, I think they are happier without the constant tension and strife.

I do all of those things with my daughter. I don’t bash their mom, I’m careful what I say about her appearance (I will say something if her ass is hanging out), I’m affectionate with her. This biggest thing a father can do is teach girls to control their emotions better. They need to see dad calmly addressing a problem instead of freaking out like their mother

I dont have any problem with that list. All of those things are true except for the stupid positive female role model Bree Larson.

I work nights and weekends too. My one weekend off I have my kids. I basically get one or two Friday nights a month to do stuff. I started taking classes at the y in the mornings and going to tennis clinics during the day as well. Most of the people at both are women my age. As the kids get older it gets much easier.

I did ancestry kits on myself and my kids. Both had dna from southern Italy and Louisiana so definitely mine. Plus it’s interesting to see who we are related to

I told my kids that they would finally get to meet the real me, not the depressed sad me always walking on eggshells. It’s actually nice to have time away from them to get stuff done so I can be more present when they are with me. Trust me it will be better than you think.

I simply don’t care. I know why we divorced and my ex never accepts responsibility for anything

I am facing the same problem. I'm at the point in my life where my kids are almost out of the house, I'm planning to semi-retire next year, and I have tons of hobbies and interests that keep me busy. I have greatly enjoyed my freedom to do whatever I want for the most part. I enjoy having female companionship but I'm finding I don't want it all the time. Unfortunately that's now how most women work, even the wonderful ones! I'm dating a really fantastic woman and I struggle with giving her the a…

OP I get what you are saying. You know these people and their personalities and the outcome. You are saying this woman blew everything up for an affair and her life is crummy compared to what she had.

Remember the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference. You can listen to her small talk and just respond uh huh or I'm happy for you or whatever, you don't have to engage.

Sometimes older women are better than men. My ex worked her magic on our male counselor

The marriage counselor we went to for many years always sided with my ex and basically the solution was that I needed to change, not her. He was a man FYI. The second counselor was an older lady who saw right through my ex's BS, needless to say we didn't go to her for long lol. It's all a waste of time and money

I framed the EPO my ex took out on me. I look at it from time to time to remind me of what she is capable of. Maybe you should do the same. There are many pretty, decent women out there that would love a guy like you. I’ve dated two sane hot women since my divorce. Both much better persons than my ex. Don’t sell yourself short.

I guess I should have said that I have a will so my estate won’t go through probate
/r/Divorce_Men20/06/23 11:29 AM

I just put "the estate of Drjaydvm" as the beneficiary. That's what my attorney told me to do. In my will the majority of my assets go into a trust for the kids. As for specific tax implications you will need to talk to a lawyer

I think it’s worth it if you like having a woman in your life. I’m dating a lovely woman my age with kids the same age that is remarkably chill “for a woman” even after a year. You know what’s the best part? If she starts acting up I can just leave 🤷🏻 You don’t have to put up with nonsense, there are millions of women out there.

That’s not exactly true. I work nights and weekends on a rotating schedule (emergency vet) basically 10 days on 10 days off. She has them from Wednesday through the next week to the following Monday. I have them Monday through the week to the following Wednesday. It’s great because I don’t have to take care of them when I’m sleeping during the day and when I’m off I’m completely off and I can focus on them. So it is doable.

The fun police 😂😂😂 “safety first, fun last” I took my teenagers skiing last Christmas in park city. I couldn’t tell if they were having fun but on the way home they told me it was the best vacation ever 🙌🏻

The best thing you can do is just work on letting it go and moving on. Therapy really helped me. I could dwell on the fact my divorce cost me my business and 1/2 of my wealth I worked 30 years for but I don’t because I’m so much happier now.

Oh it’s the standard female divorce playbook. The minute I wanted to come to my house with a friend to get my stuff she was “afraid of me” and worried about her and the kids safety. I was happily listening to tunes vacuuming my house when the cops showed up with an EPO. They seemed to understand. I was not happy when a detective showed up to work to take my CCL. I had to go to court to get it back. Thankfully the family court judge is a friend and just handed it back to me. I framed the EPO, I l…

That’s a good point. I work nights and weekends on a 10 day on 10 day off schedule. My ex has the kids when I’m working, and I use that time to get all of my “stuff” done. When they are with me I don’t stress about any mess or worry about the house staying clean and I try to stay in the present with them. It’s actually nice to have time without them and then time with them

There may be nothing you can do about your younger son unfortunately. You may lose him for a time until he grows older and sees her bullshit. All you can do is be the best father you can, talk to him, and enforce boundaries. If you let him go every time you are gonna lose him anyways. Might as well set an example and be his parent and not his friend.

How old are your kids? If you can stick it out until they are teenagers they will often see through the bullshit and appreciate you as a father if you just keep plugging away at parenting as best you can. I feel for you brother, I can’t imagine the situation you are in

It’s your birthday, it’s your time, your kid should be with you. I’m not sure how old he is but I would explain to him the situation- his mom planned something during a time when you are supposed to have him and really want to be with him. Unless he’s a little selfish shit he should want to be with his father on his birthday.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that when your daughter is with you there is no need for her mom to contact her constantly. Turn it around- how would she react if you were doing the same?
/r/Divorce_Men11/06/23 11:52 PM

Unless it's court ordered I would take the daughter's phone while she is with you and tell your ex to piss up a rope. You need to set boundaries ASAP or this will escalate

Sweet Jesus talk to your lawyer, only give her what she is legally entitled to. She is no longer your problem, she's a big girl and will need to figure it out for herself. Think to yourself what she would do for you if the tables were reversed? I'm guessing nothing....

I didn’t want my kids to only know me as a sad, defeated person and I didn’t want to wake up at 65 and realize I’d wasted my life with someone who only took, never gave.
