Also, as a woman, you can approach guys like this, and it doesn't come across as aggressive. If you do that to a smaller guy, they often seem to feel emasculated, so it's not worth doing.

Bro, if you don't want a partner getting a large % of the joint assets in a split, don't get into an arrangement where they give up career and earning potential. Split the time away from work, child rearing and coooking/cleaning 50:50 Simple.

The times that I've been "volatile" were when men were "tapering" exactly as you described. Yes, my volatility ended the relationship, but the alternative of just being cool with it, most likely would have resulted in a situation like you had with that guy, who ended up putting the distance of two galaxies between you. Sometimes being volatile means having boundaries and not allowing someone to string you along and waste your time.

It's called 'Walkaway Wife Syndrome".

Biggest example in my life was when I dated an ex and I had a whole trip planned for her in secret. Things had been rough and monotonous but I couldn't wait to surprise her UNTIL one day out the blue she threw the biggest bitch fit I've seen in on literally the same day I was gonna tell her that I gotten tickets for us to go on a cruise. I was so done that I told her that I'm not gonna take her anywhere and canceled the trip, got a refund, and then dumped her. She literally ruined it for herself…

If I was a man, I couldn't imagine being interested in a woman who sat around watching netflix all day. Who says women can do that? If it's a dating thing, surely men can call that a dealbreaker?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/21 05:34 AM

Yep, and I think of it like this: after encountering a fuckboi or two, a woman is likely to have a lot less trust in men in general. I can't imagine men stop trusting regular women because a sex worker encourage them to send them money for their content. One is pretending to be something that they're not, the other is being blatantly what they are.

There's the opportunity cost though. She's wasting time having sex with this guy that she's going nowhere with, while she could have invested that time and energy into a better guy. Time is money.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/12/21 04:12 AM

Yeah, the equivalent would be like one of those women who target specific lonely old men, and get them to send them money on the promise of buying airfares to come and see them and live happily ever after etc. If you sign up to a porn site and pay for content, it was transactional from the start.

"Small dick energy", and "short/little man syndrome" both refer to the shitty attitude that the man has, presumably because he's insecure about having a small dick, or being short. They're not actually being given shit for being short or having a small dick.

I never have. I'm guessing they didn't start out like this, rather let themselves go once they were comfortable in a relationship.

This is why women (or men) shouldn't accept being 'forever girlfriends'. If you're married, or even in a defacto relationship in many places, you'll be compensated by the divorce settlement in this situation. I think anyone who lets a partner make sacrifices to help them grow and succeed, and then leaves them for an upgrade, is going to be judged poorly by most people.

I actually wasn't specifically referring to African tribal law. I was thinking more of Abrahamic tribes. The point was, if women were so quick to abandon their own culture and tribes, it might not have been as good for them as you seem to think it was. People, men or women, don't flippantly discard things or people that are valuable to them.

These aren't all true though. No one is calling a man low value for being shy or short. They're just less likely to stand out and get noticed is all. Also, I've literally never heard another woman ridicule a man for being sexually inexperienced. A. who would even know, and B. experience doesn't necessarily make someone better in bed.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/12/21 03:50 AM

Yep, there are plenty of men who would be happy for the structural oppression of women to remain concealed, rather than brought to light and studied.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/21 01:16 AM
2

Perhaps they knew that the men of their own tribe would subjugate them anyway. Why wouldn't they align themselves with the oppressor who can provide more resources, if they will be oppressed either way? Most tribal laws were designed to keep the peace between men. For example, it might be illegal to rape another man's wife, but not illegal to rape a single woman. Women's welfare was sacrificed for the benefit of the tribe (i.e. men), so why the fuck would they have any sense of loyalty?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/21 01:13 AM

But why is it bad for a man to be short? And why is it fine, or even positive for a woman to be short? One could deduce that it's bad for a man to be short because that makes him more like a woman. And that it's good for a woman to be short, as it makes her able to be physically dominated by, or require the protection of a man.

This just got me thinking. Maybe the reason why I see average guys getting sex regularly, is because these are the type of men I surround myself with. The type of men who clearly don't actually like women are repulsive to me, and I basically have nothing to do with them, so would have no idea whether they have success with women or not.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/21 12:14 AM

Exactly. Most of my friends are around 5'9-5'10, and most men are taller than that. It's an entirely normal caucasian female height. The problem with reddit is that no one can see anyone else's reality, and therefore what is "average".

They're average for their environment. How is it relevant that they're more attractive than some pygmy from the mountains of New Guinea? Unless you're going to provide pictures of what you consider average, all of these arguments are pointless.

Yes, we can get sex easier, but the sex we get casually, is more often than not TERRIBLE! Guys who aren't genuinely interested in us dgaf if we enjoy ourselves and orgasm or not, whereas, guys will orgasm most of the time in casual sex. You're comparing apples and oranges. It's irrelevant that we can get as much sex as we want, if that sex is shit. How hard is this to grasp?!

If you're getting many, many rejections, then you're making bad bets. Stick to asking out women who've already shown interest in you, rather than spraying shots around the room, if you don't want to be regularly rejected.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/21 04:38 AM

100%. I just can't with the guys here who can't see that the sea of sex we're offered isn't worth shit, when we're unlikely to even orgasm from the terrible jackhammering (enthusiastic sex).

Seriously! I'm actually impressed that the poster was able to provide a photo of the most average looking group of guys I could think of. Like they're all literally between a 4 and 6. If he thinks they're above average, I'm intrigued to see what he considers average.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/21 03:23 AM

Any man who can get casual sex is above average by definition. Well, if your definition of average man is one who can't get casual sex, then you've answered your own question.

Having some dude who doesn't actually like you, using you to masterbate in, generally isn't satisfying sex, so most women wouldn't count this as a viable option. That's like offering someone rotten food, and then telling them they have plenty of options, and to stop complaining about being hungry.

Hate to break it to you buddy, but your looks are going to be just as diminished in your 40s.....You might find once you get there, that you're perfectly capable of finding some of your peers attractive. Most people are.

If you yourself are chaste, it's perfectly acceptable to not want to date someone who is promiscuous. But if you're using someone for sex, that would make you also promiscuous, so if that's your excuse to keep the relationship casual then you're a hypocrite, and that's not ok.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/12/21 09:25 AM
3

We would only call you a hypocrite if you're either a "slut" yourself, or the only reason you're not is a lack of opportunity, not a lack of will.

I'd definitely get tired of having to regularly remind someone, and if I were in a relationship with them, it would absolutely impact on my sexual attraction to them.

Haha, you're right, plenty of people in there do sound like dickheads. But I still feel like the sub is serving an important purpose for a lot of women that have been raised to have non-existant boundaries. A lot of them are still in the anger phase, realizing what they've been putting up with is actually appalling.

I think this is actually what's causing a lot of men frustration these days. In their mind, like the commenter above, they're happy to date a woman who makes half their income, as long as they're more attractive. There are a lot fewer women now however, who are interested in doing the inverse. We, for the most part want men who are equally attractive, and only expect them to make around the same as us.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/12/21 04:33 AM

FDS is really just about getting women to exercise boundaries. If in exercising these boundaries, they find no man interested in them, then that's a pretty clear signal that they need to level up to get what they want. But they're not going to figure that out, without first exercising the boundaries.

She shouldn't have to tell him to take out the trash if it's his job. Him leaving it until she needs to tell him has just created more work for her. Would you accept a housemate who needed to be constantly reminded to do their chores?

I couldn't care less if a man has spent money on another woman in the past. Hiwever, if he's had sex with a prostitute, it indicates that he believes womens' bodies should be able to be purchased, and that makes him a terrible person in my eyes, and would be a complete dealbreaker.

All of this assumes that that young women actually want to date older men, which in my experience of once being a young woman, and knowing many other young women, just isn't true in the majority of cases. Yes, there will be some who are willing, but they are definitely in the minority, and the guy is going to need to have his wits about him to weed out the gold diggers.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/12/21 11:43 PM
1

This was my exact experience. I probably only get 5% of the male attention that I got in my early to mid-20s now, but the 95% that I've lost was the trash attention. Attention from creepy older men, attention from guys who were clearly using a scattergun approach on as many women as possible. Attention from men who know nothing about me other than looks. Attention from men who were clearly lifestyle incompatible. The amount of actual quality attention hasn't changed at all now that I'm 39.

We attract the literal same men. It's just that a lot of these men are now balding, and have dad bods and kids from previous relationships. So if your physical standards remain the same, it can seem like a desert.

Not sure I buy this. In my experience, the men who simp and orbit aren't in my league. The simping/orbiting just makes them so easy and pleasant to be around that I tolerate them being there. Nothing about their attention inflates my ego and makes me hypergamous. I'm still waiting around for the guy I actually want, same as if the simp/orbiter wasn't there. It would be attention from Chad that would inflate my ego. If anything, women allowing simps and orbiters to hang around is inflating the eg…
/r/PurplePillDebate06/12/21 12:55 AM
1

Exactly! Simping is just landing a woman that would be out of your league if you actually exercised boundaries. A woman dating a simp isn't even really taken off the market, as she'll happily ditch the simp the moment a man she actually wants becomes an option.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/12/21 12:42 AM
1

I don't think women actively seek simps out. It's more likely that the simp is basically throwing himself (and his validation, energy, gifts etc) at her, and she thinks "why not, may as well kill a bit of time until the guy I actually like comes along". Same as Chad does with less attractive women with no boundaries. No one wants to grow old with a simp, that would be tediously annoying being around someone with so little self-respect for that long.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/12/21 12:30 AM
1

Having boundaries, i.e. not being a simp or a pickme, is for your own benefit, not that of the dating market as a whole. If all men were to suddenly stop simping, the women who were dating them, or allowing them to orbit, aren't suddenly going to step up and put in the effort to become perfect wifey material. They're just going to stay single until the guy they feel is worth making the extra effort for comes along. Men do the same thing. If no pickmes were willing to be forever girlfriends, the …

These 'simps' are obviously getting enough out of it to make it worth their while though. Otherwise they wouldn't be there.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/21 11:06 PM

The key to not getting frustrated (as either a man or woman) is in realising that not everyone out there in the dating market is genuinely an option. There are some women who don't want a real relationship, they just want attention. There are some men who don't want a real relationship, they just want an ego boost and sex. These people are generally pretty easy to spot, so just ignore them like they don't exist, and focus on the people who are genuinely looking for a real relationship.

As a society, we've decided that we should follow the law and pay taxes, or we're banished from society. Women have never agreed that we should find a partner. In the past, some men have created a system in which women were basically forced to find a partner, but women were never consulted on, or agreed to that system. When women decide that they would rather leave that society than be forced to accept a partner that they don't want, men won't leave them the fuck alone. Men don't get to decide a…

Unless you believe that I owe you companionship, a relationship & sex, I am not punishing you by not giving that to you. The situation is neutral. If I were to go out of my way to destroy a relationship that you had with someone else, that could be considered punishment. If you honestly believe that women owe you those things, then they would be wise to avoid you, and all men like you.

I'm not sure whether to find these beliefs hilariously offensive, or intriguing. As a woman, I experience the exact opposite. Some of these would definitely be seen as manipulative/creepy. Men who get 'mail order brides' are generally looked down upon, because they're using financial disparity to get a woman who might otherwise not be interested. Imagine an able bodied person who specifically chose to marry a disabled person who couldn't drive, and then bought a home in an area that was miles from nowhere, forcing them to be completely dependent on them. There are lots of scenarios that would be 'creepy'.

I'm betting your standards are actually quite reasonable. A large proportion of the 37 yr old men online would also be divorced with kids, so that's not even a real negative. All around me, I see women dating their equals. The dudes who think they're hard done by are delusional, and have internalised the old norm of getting a woman with zero effort, due to women being basically forced to depend on men.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/11/21 11:32 PM

If these guys don't have anything to offer that women value, why do you feel that they're entitled to a woman?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/11/21 11:27 PM

If that's true, it would make sense for them to find the very best man they can in that brief period of time that they have options...
/r/PurplePillDebate11/11/21 08:09 PM

If women have decided that dying alone is preferable to being with the bottom 80% of men, then men need to start bringing more to the table if they want a woman.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/11/21 07:31 AM
9

Yeah, this actually makes it sound as though men just want someone to fill a role, and don't actually care who it is. Not going to make women want to be with you, and not really something to brag about.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/11/21 07:27 AM

Women are able to be this picky because they are swamped with male interest. We have to filter it all somehow. No different to when jobs are tight and employers start expecting everyone to have degrees for basic jobs. They're just trying to narrow down hundreds of applications without having to read each one. I'm sure many (most?) women would date the intelligent, funny, kind carpenter, as long as he's attractive, if they met him in person. He may get filtered out online though.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/11/21 07:19 AM
1

Yeah, but they need to impose the terms first, in order to see what that results in. Once they do, I'd bet many would take themselves out of the dating game for awhile (like monk mode I guess), until they felt like they could realistically get the men they wanted. But yeah, probably not the best idea to date anyone who was in the early days of either TRP or FDS. Leave them to figure out how they need to improve themselves first.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/11/21 06:21 AM
1

TRP and FDS both aim to achieve the same thing (happy relationship with someone you're attracted to), but they come at it from different angles, based around the conditions that each group is experiencing. TRP takes a scarcity approach, as these men generally aren't really getting attention from women at all. FDS takes an abundance approach, as these women are getting attention, but not the type they want, or from the type of men they want it from. An analogy: two people want to build a good war…

Shower, do makeup, hair, get dressed, travel there. Psych yourself up to talk to a stranger for an hour +. Lot of work for like $40 or something. Lower socio-economic comment referred to perhaps getting a meal that is way more expensive than they could ever afford themself.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/11/21 02:29 AM
3

The problem is that many guys who only want "to ejaculate in her mouth", pretend to want to date them. FDS helps women screen those men out. And if the only attention she's getting is from those types of men, she'll soon realise that, when they're all deterred and she has no options. At that stage, she can decide to try and level up to attract better men, or maybe decide that she's content being single. But either way, life is always better without selfish or lazy men involved.

I'm with lybid8 on this one. I really can't imagine many women going to the effort of a date, just for free food. I'd say the reality is more like they are unsure if they like the guy or not, but justify the effort of going on the date with him by telling themselves "at least I'll get a free meal if nothing else". A lot of dates with guys that didn't work out for them = lots of free meals. Unless some guys are dating well below their socio-economic level, in which case maybe the meal is enticing…

I missed the first part of my comment, so included it in the next comment. But in response to your comments: Women's standards are entirely reasonable if they're getting dates. When you're in college say, most people are similar enough that you have a very wide dating pool. As you age, people branch out and become quite different to each other in many ways, which creates a whole lot of new deal breakers that just wouldn't have been relevant when younger. For example, I don't want to date guys wi…

Whoops, deleted the first part of the comment. Should have read: The reason we go for tall built attractive men when we're in our 20's, is because they are in abundance. By the time these guys are in their early 30's, a lot of them are getting overweight, balding, and generally ageing poorly, so if we kept the same physical standards, we'd all be competing for a very small pool of men.

I'm not talking about being a blatant asshole to women. Nobody wants to sleep with someone like that. More along the lines of being a bit cocky and arrogant.

The hard thing about meeting someone online, vs meeting through friends, work/school, or some other activity, is that with OLD, we don't get much of an opportunity to just observe someone without them basically putting on an act for us. If someone at work asked me out, I might have already known them or even just known of them, for a year. This would have given me ample opportunity to observe them in many situations, decide whether they're someone I find attractive or not. If I agree to go on a …

Personally, if I were looking for casual sex, I choose either someone who I knew I'd never have to see again for whatever reason (they're here on vacation or something), or someone who is a bit of an asshole, because I wouldn't feel bad about ghosting them after, cause I wouldn't care about the feelings of an asshole. Having thought about it a bit more, I could see a situation where I might be wary of someone who'd slept with a couple of my friends, assuming they already knew me too. But that would be because I'd be wondering why they went for the others before me, and if I was just a fallback or something. So I guess the question is, would it be an issue if they'd slept with a bunch of people prior to meeting you?

Lol, how do you not see the hypocrisy in judging someone else for the same thing you're doing? If you were someone who had chosen not to have sex until marriage (by choice, not by lack of opportunity), then it would be reasonable to have a preference (i.e. judge) for not dating people who were having a lot of casual sex. But that doesn't sound like what you are. You're free to be a hypocrite, and women are free to call you out on it and avoid you for it.

Sex and passion is what motivates most people to put in the effort that commitment and communication require. If someone was willing to make the effort of commitment and communication, but didn't feel passion for me, I'd feel like I was either being used for something, or that I was completely interchangeable. The exact thing a lot of men on here seem to fear actually. You need both for a successful relationship. It's the Anna Karenina Principle.

If you would fuck someone, but not date them because they're "the girl to invite out so one of the bros can hopefully get his dick wet", you're saying that they're not worthy of a relationship because of their promiscuity. The same promiscuity that you and "your bros" seem to have. That's hypocritical slut shaming.

I think it's more that the moment they realise they wouldn't have the other person's child, they would end it. There are unfortunately some shitty people out there who know they wouldn't commit to someone long term, but will date them anyway out of convenience and laziness, with basically no regard for the other person's feelings.

Women up to 10 years younger I guess. Attractive women, as these guys are also attractive and look very good for their age. They're basically getting their looks matches, which compared to when they were younger and struggling, I'd consider "killing it". They are definitely in the minority though, so I'd still agree that it's a fantasy. I know one or two men who fit the fantasy of killing it in their 40's. They struggled when they were younger because they looked very boyish/effeminate, but these same genes meant that they aged exceptionally well compared to 98% of their peers. So the real reason they do well is that their competition basically fell by the wayside. Unfortunately for most men here, they are much more likely to fall within that 98% whose looks drop off as they age.

Men do literally the same thing. So many guys I knew dated/fucked attractive women when they were younger, but once they decided to settle down, they went for the less attractive woman who would make a more self-sacrificing little wifey. The sexes really aren't that different. People pursue partners based around what their priorities and values are at the time.

I think for a man to be considered a status symbol, he'd have to be both hot and rich, otherwise you're compromising in one regard, which doesn't indicate status. Alternatively, if you're a wealthy sugar mama, having a young hot guy that you financially support could be a status symbol, although this would obviously be seen as distasteful by many people.

Yes, this is considered good. If someone was FWB material and not husband materiel, there are probably some pretty fundamental things wrong with them. I think it's wrong to assume that the men and women of a particular place are always equal. For instance, if you're in a military garrison town, the average man may be better looking, or at least fitter. In other places, due to demographics, women may be on average better. I think this has some definite merit. What I've noticed in my country as well, is that due to an increasing population, young adults often can't afford to live and buy property in the areas they grew up, so end up moving away from their families, often to different cities. This leaves them without a strong community that would have helped the less social of them to meet potential partners organically.

Apples and oranges. A fair comparison would be dildos and pocket pussies. Porn is someone getting aroused often by the the degradation of the woman. Women love good sex. Unfortunately, a lot of sex isn't very good from a woman's perspective, especially with casual partners. We lose interest if we don't think it's going to be worth our while. She's actually kind of a shitty person once you really get to know her though. The kind of person who can subordinate themself to entitled idiots all day every day is usually a People Pleaser. And people pleasing is actually a type of manipulation, which when it fails to work, can turn passive aggressive at best, and vindictive at worst. Most people wi…

No, because you said they're the same make and model, so you can safely assume they'll age similarly. Two people of different ages are not the same make and model, they have different genetic make-up. It would be like this: there are two models of car in existence, one that has a proven record of making it to 400K miles (A) which is quite rare, and one that has a proven record of dying at about 70K miles (B) which is very common. You have to choose between the two cars you listed above, but you …

One of the points in her OP was that basically most people in their 20's look good. If the 20+ yr old and the 30+ yr old both look good, from a looks perspective, the 30+ yr old is a safer bet, because if they're still looking good in their 30's, they're probably going to stay looking good, relative to their peers. The 20+ yr old could go go downhill and end up changing completely.

Partially agree. People in their 20's are chosen on potential, while people in their 30's are chosen on proven record. From a personality/goals etc perspective, choosing in your/their 30's is likely to land you a more suitable partner. From a looks perspective, yep, a few people age well, and a lot don't. Most people in their 20's look decent, but by early 30's you can generally see how someone is going to continue to age. What you've ignored though, is how you yourself are going to age. Like ye…

My advice would be that if you want kids, prioritise study and then establishing a career in your early to mid 20's (take a gap year and travel first if you can afford it). By mid to late 20's, establish your own business and use the next 5 years to get it to a point that you can take on employees, and reduce your own hours, for when you start having kids. You can start looking for a serious partner at any time, but since people tend to change so much between 18-30, the most fruitful time to fin…

No longer that age, but when I was, it wouldn't have been a dealbreaker, but it would have been a negative that would have required strengths in other areas to compensate. But that said, when you meet the right person, a lot of "requirements" go out the window. It might make it a bit harder OLD, if that's what you're doing, but I'd just put extra effort into finding photos where your facial features are flattered.

Why should guys who aren't attractive enough get casual sex, or expect to though? All it is is an ego boost. It's not a physical need, as you could achieve the same thong with your hand. It's not an emotional thing, as that would be better served by a relationship. It's merely an ego boost, no different to being naturally athletic and wining at sport etc. Not something that warrants deceiving others in order to get. People who lie to get sex are worse than sleazy con artists. At least the con ar…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/21 11:54 PM

The problem with that "me first" kind of attitude, is that it has far reaching effects. When enough men lie about what they want, that women think there's a decent chance that they will encounter this type of man, women's behaviour as a group will also change. Even fewer women will give men the benefit of the doubt, and will start to vet even harder, expecting much more investment (time, money) from men before they sleep with them. So yeah, you might get laid a few times early on, but later on, …

The mean part of me kind of wants this to happen. I'd recommend against it though. As a woman, there is significant pressure to do things such as wear makeup, dye hair, shave legs etc. Like, you don't have to do it, but if everyone else is wearing makeup and you aren't, you just look rough in comparison. I imagine you like the idea of getting a height boost by wearing them, but the reality might be that you have to wear them if you don't want to look abnormally short.

As a woman, this is true for me. Although I would be ok with a guy slightly shorter than me. Also, out in the real world, I see couples where the guy is shorter than 6' all of the time. I see couples where the guy is shorter than the girl daily. While plenty of women might like tall guys, for the most part, we don't expect them. So many other traits are more important. That doesn't mean that the 5'3 guys aren't still struggling though...there is a limit.

It doesn't even need to be about leagues though. A guy will sleep with a woman he know he has no future with due to other lifestyle factors like knowing he's moving interstate for a job or something.

I may have interpreted this incorrectly, but I always assumed with the Beta Bux scenario, that the woman didn't actually find him attractive, and was just using him for the money/security. It's not necessarily about seeing a guy as a potential provider, it's actually more about not wanting to tell your friends/family about someone you're seeing, only to get P&D'd. That would be humiliating. Guys who only want sex, and are pretty clear about that through body language and conversation make things very easy. You can decide right there and then whether you want sex with this person and probably never hear from them again. Some women will turn all men like this down, some will accept …

Height is more of a binary dealbreaker for all of the women I know. Below a certain height (which for most would be either their own height or a bit shorter), and it doesn't matter how attractive they are, they're a no. I've actually never heard any of my friends talk about how they find a man attractive because of his height. They key is to pass the minimum required height, then facial attractiveness is probably the next thing assessed.

I honestly feel like most of the guys on this sub must live in places with skewed ratios like military garrison towns or mining towns or something like that, because those are the only places that I've seen where men are competing any more than women are. Personally, I'll sleep with someone once I'm attracted to them enough that I know that the sex will be great. Generally, the better looking and more charismatic the guy, the sooner that will happen. Many guys though, if I turned down their advances because I hadn't hit that level of attraction yet (which for a "normal" guy in my general league isn't going to be instantaneous, I'm going to have to actually get to know and like his personality), and was actually honest about not feeling it yet, he…

Such a god point. We all look at reddit as universal, and through the lens of our own experience. /r/PurplePillDebate08/07/21 10:52 AM

If a man asks me out, like a cold approach, he can pay. If I ask him out, I'll at least offer to pay for it all (admittedly I don't ask men out often). If we met online and agreed to go out, I'd expect to split.

Assuming you are a man, would you not choose a woman who made 50% more, if you were choosing between two women who were equal in all other ways? I can't imagine anyone would choose the person who made less if it meant you had to live in a shittier neighborhood, send your kids to worse schools, take fewer vacations etc. The only reason to choose the lower contributer, would be if you were actively seeking a power imbalance, which is pretty fucked up.

100%. This is what I try and explain to guys, especially with regards to OLD profiles. When you try and appeal to too wide a spread of women, you just end up looking like every other guy. And that's when women use looks/height/money to differentiate. Having a personality that isn't a bland carbon copy, and displaying that personality visually will do so much more for a guy (or a girl probably too), than anything else.

The issue isn't partner vs friends exactly. The problem is relying entirely on one single person to meet all of your emotional needs. This could also be a friend. If anything happens where you either lose that person, or they are no longer able to emotionally support you, you're screwed. If you have a wider network of support, it just makes you more emotionally robust.

While most women would probably like 6 weeks of tropical vacations per year, I'd say most would see the benefit in a relationship with someone they like, that noticeably improves their situation. And that doesn't take much. Being pleasant company, doing your half of the household labour, contributing half the rent/costs, and being good in bed. Just providing those things would be enough of an incentive for most women to want a relationship with someone whose company they liked.

I think they're saying that guys may have a pretty good idea that another guy is an asshole because they are privy to conversation that said asshole doesn't share around women. So the women might have no idea what a guy is really like.

Someone above was quoting statistics that 25% of men hadn't had sex in the last year. So fucking what. No one is entitled to sex, and the expectation that everyone should be having it regularly reeks of entitlement. No one is going to die if they aren't having sex. If no one wants to be that close to you, that's a reflection on you and nothing else.

Wasn't that study done by a paid dating site? If that's the case, 80% of the men on there may have actually been below average.

Dude, when women say personality is more important, what they haven't thought to say, because it is so obvious to them, is that the guy needs to meet a baseline of physical attractiveness, among other things. No one is trying to deceive you, we just felt it was so obvious that it didn't need to be explicitly mentioned.

Exactly! Of the men that are in my league (looks, intelligence, socio-economic status), I want one with a good personality. Those outside of my league don't get a look in, despite how great a personality they have, or especially how nice they are.

Such a simple concept that so many men inexplicably fail to grasp.

I've never heard a woman say that looks don't matter. If they're saying that personality is more important, it doesn't mean that looks don't matter to them. It means that once a man is above a certain looks threshold (i.e. fuckable), that better looks offer diminishing returns in comparison to personality. The same could be said about income. Plenty of women would say that income isn't important to them, but that doesn't mean they would accept a broke freeloader. Same with intelligence, personal…

Do people, men in particular, honestly believe that looks don't matter? How on earth do you go through life not noticing that good looking people get more attention from the opposite sex!

I think there's some truth in this. I definitely got less unwanted attention as I got older, so was able to let my guard down, and start expressing interest, as I felt that it was less likely that the guy I was talking to/interested in was indiscriminately hitting on every woman in sight. I'm definitely not more desperate, but no longer need to be on the defensive all of the time.

Other than being extremely tall, which could actually put a lot of women off, he seems like a fairly average looking guy. He is well groomed, and I assume in reasonable physical shape, but nothing out of the ordinary. If he is really shy it's entirely feasible that he had no luck with women. I could actually imagine that being a solid foot taller than most women could make it challenging to connect to women in day to day situations.

Think of it this way. You're really hungry. A ham sandwich would cure that hunger. Someone offers you an chocolate truffle. You know it's not going to cure your hunger, but who's going to say no to a delicious chocolate truffle. You eat the truffle, and then continue your search for the ham sandwich. Men and women aren't that different. Women, especially as they get older, are going to lose interest in truffles, if from experience, they've learnt that despite their appearance, they don't actuall…

Yep. I know plenty of white collar- blue collar couples. But they all grew up in the same SES class. Jobs really don't matter much to most people, and the difference between a university educated and non-uni educated person at the age that couples usually get together (mid 20's) really isn't that much if they come from the same background. The gulf widens as people get older though, so I could imagine older women who have been moving in more educated circles for most of their life perhaps not wa…

People use visual clues to determine whether someone will be a good lifestyle match. These include dress (interests and socio-economic status) and body shape. There's nothing inherently lazy about not wanting to date someone who highly prioritises fitness if it's not something that interests you beyond maintaining an adequate level of health. But I agree with you that most people aren't actually attracted to unfit/flabby bodies, just to what they represent.

As a woman, in my experience, unattractive guys are significantly more likely to be really creepy and ignore body language. I suspect this is because the odds of them getting the woman they really want is so low, that they just use a scatter gun approach, and creep on anyone who even makes eye contact with them. Attractive guys have a decent success rate by approaching the exact woman they're interested in, so use that approach instead. Perhaps they are being creepy when they do it, I don't know…

Sounds like you've got a great mindset and will make a terrific father.

Possibly, most people have their price. I guess I just don't really see kids as beneficial to either myself or society (I think our population needs to shrink). It's not like I need to create the next generation of workers to till my fields or something. I'd just be creating more consumers and workers to prop up capitalism, and someone else's ever expanding wealth.

Hopefully as more men choose to take on the primary carer role, it will become more accepted and normalised for them to retain primary custody, and support mechanisms will become more accessible.

Thanks for the response, hope it works out for you. There is certainly something to be said for raising a child on your own. Potentially more work, but having full control over the process, and not having to gamble on choosing a reliable partner may well make up for it.

Would you be interested in kids if you could raise them alone, with no chance of a woman leaving and getting child support?

Definitely not my expectations!

Standard of living is a small factor, but my time is what I really value. I would probably be fine living basically as a monk with no possessions, as long as my time was my own.

Thanks for the response. Would you consider trying to find a way to have kids alone, and just be a single dad?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
