Like so many things in life, people with impossibly high standards can either settle, or choose to continue hunting for the rare thing or person that will satisfy them.

Nothing you've mentioned indicates a reason not to trust women. Your friend will not have a better relationship unless he communicates with his girlfriend about his insecurities around her past. The relationship problems of one couple you know are not indicative of every relationship. And, if you actually read those books at all, you've understood nothing from them. If you had, you wouldn't be taking about oral sex and communication, you'd be talking about context. And you wouldn't be talking ab…

If she, a woman, cannot speak for all women, neither can you.

Refusing to publish somebody's opinion is not censorship. Censorship is when a government power prohibits certain speech.

You're literally telling me that my experience as a woman of being a woman isn't accurate. You're going to need to see women as human beings who have our own accurate experiences and perspectives. If you can't do that, why would any woman be interested in you? Are you also going to tell your eventual girlfriend that her life experience isn't accurate? That sounds miserable

Sure. Clearing the bar doesn't mean you're entitled to women's attention. We're not a vending machine that you can "insert" a man who's basically a competent human and out comes a woman's love. The bar is an absolute minimum, but every single human is still looking for different things. There's not really a shortcut for finding the person who wants you. Of course that's frustrating, but my opinion is that resenting women in general because of it doesn't make sense.

Yes and no. It should give you a boost of confidence to know that your "competition" is so dismal. You know? And then it would be wise to self-reflect to think about ways that you might not clear the bar. (For what it's worth, I'm a woman and I frequently think about this subject, trying to see things from my partner's perspective-- so I'm not just trying to put up barriers for you here. It's a thing all humans who want relationships should do) Here's an example of how men with clean asses still…

My reality is different from your reality-- they're both true. I'm not denying your experience (of course some men have trouble attracting women; the reverse is also true). Why are you denying my experience, which is matched by many other women? We won't be able to understand one another until we can accept that we all have different experiences

It's completely related. When women say the bar is on the floor, they're talking about things like hygiene. If you were open to learning from research, you'd discover that there is evidence supporting what women are saying. That would help you take a perspective based in reality when relating to women.

Meanwhile women keep asking each other how to convince their male partners to wash their asses.

I mean if you're not going to listen to what researchers have learned about how people behave, there's no convincing you. You're not trying to learn anything, you're trying to make your point

That's actually completely incorrect. Divorce certainly feels like the end of the world. But children who live in homes where the parents resent one another or stay together "for the children" usually fare worse and have more trauma than children of divorced parents. Not to mention it's terrible for the adults to stay in unloving relationships

If she is a virgin until she's married, there's a good chance that she holds deep beliefs against divorce. Many women in these scenarios hate how their lives turn out but stay because they believe they're "ruined." That's what's really happening when you say they divorce less-- they feel miserable and trapped. Purity culture also harms men in many ways; do read up on it If you're worried about your children, one of the best predictors of how children turn out is how well educated their mother is…

So your preference is for a woman who feels she has no choice but to stay with you?

The main thing women look for in partners is whether they are kind and attentive to the people around them.

You've opened the door for many conversations, and I hope you find them. I'll only suggest that men (especially in this community, perhaps) should try imagining what would happen if they connect to women under a relational paradigm, rather than a commodified, transactional, skill-based paradigm. Relationships, not strategies.

Most women prefer men who see them as fully human, not just fEmAlEs who need to get tricked into a relationship... You don't see that on studies because they don't ask about it, but it's pretty often lacking

Believe it or not, the choices men make and the things they choose to believe affect women

You're totally right that men suffer from the rigid gender roles imposed by the patriarchy, just as women do. A lot of the "feminine" jobs don't pay well, though- makeup artists, teaching, nursing. So when men are (unfairly!) kept out of those fields, it's not quite the same as women who are prevented from being engineers, software developers, etc

It's not that men have it easy, exactly. It's that women don't have it as easy. For comparison, consider race. Do white people in America have it easy? Poor white folks would say no, they're working themselves to the bone and never get ahead. But they're missing the point. It's not that white people have it easy, it's that POC don't have it as easy

The women i know generally are attracted to people who are kind and funny, and they expect that their partner treats them like a human being and does a fair share of the household work. That's it.
