No area code on the phone number, I haven't seen that in years

Couldn't he have a civil case? He can show actual damages...

Though I gotta be honest, I've certainly never been on a date where I felt the police needed to be called. Is that common enough to warrant a secret drink order?

This was in the UK, but same idea applies

Caitlyn's makeup is actually pretty fucking well done. Not surprising considering her family What does this have to do with men's rights?

To be fair, that's just the way the Wikipedia community is — to them, coming from anywhere but organically seeing the page is proof you're a shill

Agreed! Further, "rape by coercion" is a very real problem. If Mr Doe put her in a position where a reasonable person would have feared the consequences of not having sex, that is rape.

Nah, that's really transparent. Just call her from someone else's phone and pretend you dialed a wrong number. Get her name that way.

You intend to fight a lack of empathy by showing a lack of empathy? That seems . . . counter-productive.

do you really believe that empathy of any sort towards the perpetuators of this act would prevent this from happening again? No. Nor do I believe that abuse and harassment of the perpetrators would prevent a similar event. It has happened on reddit before and it will happen again. The best-case outcome if the abuse of AlyoshaV et al continues is that he is vindicated in his trolling and redoubles his efforts. The worst case is that AlyoshaV is a human like you, me, or Black_Visions. We can only …

I didn't condone the initial actions. Instead, I am urging the members of this community to keep in mind that it was a lack of empathy that led to this situation in the first place. Shouldn't the lesson be that we need for make a concerted effort to empathize with those we oppose?

I get downvoted a lot. If you look through my comment history (I don't recommend it, nobody has time to read them all), you'll see I have a few dozen comments under -50. I get a lot of flak from reddit for showing empathy for people reddit despises. The votes don't matter to me. As much as some people would have you believe otherwise, karma doesn't mean much. It is, after all, just a number on a website. I'd rather express my honest opinion and be downvoted for it than write something I don't be…

Hey AlyoshaV. I'm not a big fan of yours; that's no secret. We've butted heads in the past and I'm sure we will again. That being said, you're going to at the center of quite a witch hunt over the next few days, and I wanted to try to put a few complex things I'm feeling out there for you. I don't want you to let yourself bear the weight of this incident. What did or did not drive this user to commit suicide is not the subject of my message to you. Instead, I wan to you to just understand that d…

Try to have something empathy though. AlyoshaV knows what has happened. I can't imagine how he or she must feel right now. Is what he did wrong? Yes. Did it lead to something horrible? Yes. But having the weight of another's suicide on your back is not a feeling I'd wish on my worst enemy. Nobody deserves that. Just . . . take a second and put yourself in his shoes. Isn't a lack of that consideration what lead to this whole incident in the first place?

No, and not because of the sex. We clearly just don't have similar values systems if that is important to her
