absolutely. some of the feminists on the thread i linked were trying to share that same sentiment but it seems like the majority on that sub were hating on those feminists. which is a shame because the feminists that were getting hate were the ones who were being consistent and egalitarian about their views

ya sorry i shouldnt have implied they were the exact same, the comparison i was trying to make was how both people got famous simply for being sexist, except society as a whole demonized tate rightfully, but the same society praises drew with book deals and sponsored podcasts. its the double standard of it i was trying to make a comparison on, but i shouldnt have made it seem like they were the exact same. thank you for holding me accountable on that

i will never understand the blatant apathy to male victims simply because they are victimized by other males. its literally the same argument far right conservatives use against black people. 'b-but its other blacks killing each other so why should i care?' i also find the idea that its justifiable to perpetuate the narrative of 'men are bad' as a result of this reprehensible. in doing so, you are also demonizing male victims. that kind of collateral damage is not worth whatever message you are …

What he did was indeed horrible, but i don't remember there being any mention of him hitting her? But his actions are no worse than her assaulting him with a deadly weapon and threatening to falsely accuse him of sexually assaulting her kids, both of which he got on camera, whereas those text messages were not verified, and there is no evidence he hit her, either. Also, if she was so willing to admit that she was going to falsely accuse him of sexually assaulting her kids, who is to say that she…

respectfully, i feel you've misinterpreted my comment, and several of the things you've said in your response concerned me deeply. It’s humorous because it’s A. A woman doing it to a man that is much bigger than her Forgive me, but i see no other way to sugarcoat what i am about to say. this same rhetoric has been used over and over to victim blame male victims or rape, SA, or domestic violence. 'well, she's a woman, why didn't you push her off, why didn't you stop her, you're a much larger man?…

this is an excellent point. i personally found Matt Rife's recent joke to be rather insensitive, but i can at least see where he was attempting to make a joke. sometimes comedians cross lines, that's the nature of comedy. but i fail to see where a joke was even attempt to be made with this advertisement. it just feels like a powerful women trying to exert that power over a man. it feels spiteful and angry rather than an attempt at lighthearted humor.

i understand what you're saying, and i agree to an extent. i think gender jokes can be hilarious. i myself follow a handful of comedians that absolutely tear into men, but they're at least making actual jokes. this advertisement simply isn't a joke. where is the punchline? if i replace blake lively with mark zuckerberg, and the male actor with jocelyn mettler, it's still creepy and gross to me. especailly with the tag line 'cruelty free, unless women count'. It wouldn't feel like a joke, but rat…

i appreciate the respectful pushback. allow me to further explain my point and clarify a few things. you see, the only part of this entire ad that doesn't bother me is the 'objectification' part. i couldn't care less if a woman wants to do an ad with a shirtless man or vice versa. as long as the actor agrees to being in those roles, i see nothing inherently wrong with sexualising either genders. men and women want to look at other beautiful men and women, nothing wrong with that. the issue here …

God i've never heard anyone else describe that feeling so eloquently. 'hard to breathe' feeling is exactly what i feel when i see this kind of stuff online. its very draining and the worst part is even though i try to avoid seeing things like this, they continue to find me. i will always be grateful for opening my eyes to male advocacy, but i never realized just how much dirt i would find hidden under the carpet. ignorance really is bliss, i suppose
