I think that "eye-rape" is supposed to refer to a person aggressively ogling another person in a manner that makes the person being ogled feel uncomfortable and maybe reduced to being a sexual object? Obviously that can get out of hand (like people getting upset that other people are just looking at them), but under that definition I think that could count as objectification.

First off, I didn't put together the screenshots in this link. It's been floating around for awhile now. I don't have the patience or the stomach to go on TRP anymore, it's just way too toxic for my tastes. I was simply answering the OP's question. OP brings up one downvoted comment and I bring up 65 not downvoted/upvoted comments and point out (albeit, a bit poorly) that neither of those things necessarily prove anything. A thing that does prove that TRP considers women inferior is your sidebar…

I was responding to OP, who was suggesting the fact that the comment he is bringing up was downvoted means that TRP as a whole does not consider women inferior. If the vote totals on a single comment can be used to determine how a community feels, then the vote totals on the 64 screenshots in the album should certainly determine that yes, actually TRP as a whole does consider that women are inferior.

Here is a comment calling women inferior that is not downvoted to oblivion and has 11 upvotes. Here is that infamous set of photos with examples of upvoted (or at the very least not downvoted) comments stating things along the lines of "women are inferior". The existence of one downvoted comment doesn't negate every other horrible comment made.

Man, that really sucks. 2k a month is ridiculous unless it's for several children. That part of the system definitely needs an overhaul, although I hope that when your child grows up they are grateful to you for providing them with a somewhat privileged lifestyle. That's certainly a lot more money than my parents were able to spend on us growing up (though I'm not complaining, I had a wonderful childhood).

I don't think it's typically hundreds of thousands of dollars. Per the 2010 census, the average monthly cost of child support in the US is $430. If someone pays 18 years of child support at this rate it's a total of $86,400. Not saying I disagree that being forced to care for a child that's not yours due to the deceit of someone else is awful. I just have a pet peeve of people thinking someone can live like a rockstar on child support payments when in reality it's usually not even enough to actu…

Anti-red pill. I have a brother and a sister, but I only recently become close with my brother (he's a few years older so we never really hung out as kids) so I don't know if that really helped me form any idea of the opposite sex or not.

What changed? I had sex with someone I was actually comfortable with. My first time was with someone more experienced than me. I didn't realize it at the time, but it's obvious looking back now. He wasn't more experienced than me - it was both of our first times. I just didn't ever get to the point of feeling comfortable with him. Do you think he was? Do I think he was thinking about the sexual aspect when we first started dating? I don't know, probably. Is he your sugar daddy? Seriously, you sa…

Oh, I see. Well, when we started dating I was much less interested in sex than I am now. I had only been with one other person (year and a half LTR) and I hadn't had great sexual experiences with them. I certainly thought he was attractive but I wasn't really thinking about the sexual aspect. I just loved spending time with him and I still do. I would rather spend a day doing nothing with my boyfriend then go on an all expenses paid trip to some resort without him.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/06/14 07:36 PM

I find most things he does attractive. Exceptions: leaving used paper towels on the kitchen counter, pooping... I'm not sure what your question is - are you asking me to detail all of the things my boyfriend does that I find sexually attractive? That would take forever.

Stupid people aren't attractive to me. If you're uneducated (I'm not talking some fancy degree or something, but just high school level stuff) there's inevitably going to be problems. Luckily, I don't ever plan on being with anyone else in my life so I'm all set. Marriage on the horizon? You sound like my mother. And his mother :). We certainly plan on getting married, but we're in no rush.

Noes: Disrespecting others, lack of personal responsibility, taking himself too seriously, lack of attraction/sexual compatibility. Oh come on, there's a big difference between "most women as I understand it have had one night stands" and "EVERY women has had a one night stand. Every. single. one. You've all fucked a guy the first night you met. Don't lie." You had to have thought of that as you typed it. The fact that you repeated it multiple times kind of takes it out of the "generalization" and into the "concrete and exact statement about something". See, here's the thing. EVERY woman has had a one night stand. Every. single. one. You've all fucked a guy the first night you met. Don't lie. Yeah, here's a woman who hasn't. No lie. That's the problem with making broad statements, it's so easy to prove them wrong.

"Most women hate being married"? I think that's a lot to extrapolate from the fact that more women than men file for divorce. There could be a myriad of reasons why a woman would be more likely to file the paperwork to get a divorce, that doesn't mean that they hate being in a marriage. They may have hated being in their particular marriage, but that's a totally different thing.

I am and in fact I have because of the things discussed in this very subreddit. Things like realizing that women are pedestalized in society and they (we) aren't as universally "good" as it might appear. Or getting a better insight into the difficulties of being a man, rather than thinking that men just have it easy. I've changed the way I discuss things to be less dismissive of things I haven't experienced and more understanding. Are you?

I understand your post, but thanks for the jab at my intelligence. This is not the sub for you to post your anecdotes. This is a debate subreddit where we can discuss ideas relating to TRP. You state in your post that you are not willing to change your view at all, so why are you here?

This advice only applies if you want to treat the person in front of you like a person. Which is what the question was. I never said it applied to every interaction in your life.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/03/14 04:38 PM

Recognition and treatment are two separate matters. I don't recognize that every person is just as important as I am. Some people are clearly more important and some are much less. Important in what sense? I understand that if you were going to take a completely selfish stance then yes, your boss or some influential person is more important than some rando walking down the street. But I was answering the question of "how to treat people like people?" and I have always held that the best way to d…

The question is how to treat people like people? Recognize that every person is just as important as you are and then interact with them as such. Edit: I guess I wasn't super clear. I don't mean like literally important like an urgent email is important or something. I mean like their life and experiences and beliefs are just as valid as yours and you should treat them how you would like to be treated. I know we probably aren't going to agree, but if your relationship is based on love, trust and commitment and if you keep communicating and expanding on it (rather than letting it go stale) I don't see how you wouldn't be in the other 50%. Obviously there are a lot of variables and it's hard to really know another person but I really believe that the benefits of having someone so committed to you and to be so committed to another person is the worth the chance that it might not work out.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/02/14 05:05 PM

Knowing they will always be there: See modern divorce rates. I'd argue that you're still promising yourself to another person for the rest of your life and vice versa. I doubt that a lot of people enter into marriage expecting to get divorced. Regardless of the current divorce rate, if I married someone it would be because I believe that they will always be there for me. So an individual man could still get the benefit of having someone always there for them.

That would include women that are inline with my beliefs then, yes? Because you seem pretty argumentative to my viewpoints. I've said multiple times in my posts that I have no problem with people who want to get married and have kids before having a career (or just not having a career at all and focusing on family). Yes. But the reason we enjoy sex is to further populate. "Reproductive capacity" could just mean sex, or fertility, etc. Yes, sex is biologically for reproduction. But humans don't have to follow their biology. That's what's nice about being human. We can move away from only instinct and create art and think up really outlandish sexual kinks and invent Segways and anything else that has nothing to do with "eat, survive, breed" or whatever.

I'm so embarrassed. This article, linked in your sidebar literally states: We observe an identical difference between men as a whole and women as a whole. A young woman of twenty reacts with intuitive promptitude and security in all the usual circumstances in which she may be placed. First of all TRP kind based on this idea that women do not always say what they mean I'm aware of that. So if your strategy is based on a thing, what proof do you have of that thing? I'm not advocating that you keep toxic people in your life, but if the only friend you have in your life is your SO, then it's going to be easy to be manipulated by him/her. This would be another example. You're going to put yourself in a situation where you will …

Anyone who stays here for more than a few days is likely some form of masochist. I keep telling myself this but then I don't leave.

I have a couple of bones to pick with your interpretation. It's pretty clear you didn't read the books, so you're missing some information as to the character's motivations. Katniss is self-sacrificing but only for her sister. Most of the things she does, she does for selfish reasons. She didn't inspire a revolution by any actions she did, just the way they were construed by the people. She would have been happy to run away with Gale and their families before the start of the second games and le…

Certainly. Which is why some people in TBP seriously responded to it and why people here are responding to it. I was merely pointing out that he wasn't owed any kind of honest debate there, especially with the way he asked his questions. I mean, he's literally stating that he asked certain questions as an "attention call" now. I personally have no interest in answering his questions, because I don't think they actually come from an honest desire to learn more or to debate. But I could be wrong a…

No one has any sort of obligation to be unbiased in /r/TheBluePill. It's not a debate sub. He went into a circlejerk sub and asked a bunch of loaded questions and whined about how the "friendzone" is abuse. I don't think that deserves a serious response.

I'm a little late to the party, but I've been with my SO for over 5 years and he's never "thrown a temper tantrum". When he does something I don't like or disagree with, I say "hey, you did this thing I don't like or disagree with. Can you explain why? maybe I'm misunderstanding your actions. Oh I see, I misunderstood before and now I am fine/oh I see, well I dislike this because of a b c. Can you please not do this anymore?" etc. He does the same to me. Obviously sometimes there is an argument …

If you're in a relationship that you are okay with but it's not amazing, it's not the princess fantasy you've always wanted, then all of a sudden another man comes through that does swoon you away that you completely fall for? Would you not go with him? I think the point that people take issue with is that if you are in a loving, committed relationship as a woman, you will not drop your SO once someone who is "more attractive" or who makes more money shows you attention. But hypergamy essentiall…

I think the point of posting the comment is that it had agreement from the other users on the website (as evidenced by the upvotes and the comment below agreeing with it) so it could be argued that it's a view held by "TRP" or people who frequent that website, which I would lump in the TRP which I think is fair. You would only need to view the linked image of the comment to realize it's a comment. It's clearly not an article when you look at it.

Personally, I think it was going a little far messaging all of those people, but I understand the logic behind it. I think it would be the same if orange was a girl. Also, seriously - I don't think anyone on TBP would applaud anyone cheating or convincing someone else to cheat on their SO if they were in a committed relationship. Obviously, I can't speak for everyone there, but I'm pretty confident of this for the majority of posters. No one in their right mind would say that calling out a woman…

I guess I should have worded myself differently. It's not that men are doing a disservice to feminism by not speaking out when their peers are making anti-woman comments, it's people. I was pointing out that I've never heard a feminist say that men solely hold that responsibility, but then I was stupid and made an example with only men. But the example would apply if women were present or if they were making anti-woman or sexist remarks.

"Men are doing a disservice to feminism by not speaking out when their peers are making anti-woman comments." I've never really heard this kind of thing being phrased this way. I think you're misunderstanding the intention here. The way I understand it is if let's say you're in a car with your buddies and you drive by a woman walking by and the driver yells out "nice tits!" or some sort of catcall, you would be doing a disservice to feminism by not telling your friend that that is rude and objec…

A time during which I have to listen, am not allowed to be distracted and have to take her seriously. This implies that you don't have to take her seriously at other times. I agree that if you are happy and she is happy and you're not hurting anybody then good for you and have a nice life, but I really, really cannot comprehend being in any sort of relationship (be it work, romantic, familial) where I, as an adult, wasn't taken seriously 100% of the time. The thought that I might be dismissed fo…

True, but if she is dependent on him it makes it a lot harder to leave. Just a hypothetical. I obviously don't know the specifics but in a "traditional" relationship the man would be the breadwinner.

It's not like it was a choice. I think it is a choice. I have changed how I've felt about things in the past. I used to think that gay people and gay sex were gross. Now I don't. I came to the realization that people are people and sex is strange and wonderful and people can do it however they want as long as it's not harming anyone. Nobody is suggesting treating people differently except in the context of dating. I wasn't arguing that anyone was saying that. I will say that I can recall comment…

I understand his reaction. I have a similar reaction. And I don't understand that reaction. Personally I feel that reacting to something with disgust indicates that you are being judgmental. It disgusts you. You are judging it. Obviously that's just how you feel and maybe you can or you can't change that (I hold the opinion that you can always change the way you feel about something, but that's just me). We all view everything in life from our unique viewpoint made up of personal experiences and…

I didn't mean to project my feelings. I was only trying to say that I felt /u/WillisBlak was wrong for judging someone based on something he has done himself. You then asked me If a woman isn't attracted to short people, does that mean she thinks short people are dirty half-breeds? And I was just making a point that of course there is a difference between sexual/relationship attraction and just being a shitty, judgmental person. I never said anyone was saying don't give sluts a job or respect. H…

While that's funny, I don't think that this sort of comment belongs here. Please don't just downvote or mock opinions you disagree with, question them and have a real debate. The purpose of this subreddit is to better understand the other side, so if you're here to make snarky, mocking comments and be rude to other users, you'd better head home. will be banned.

No, there is a difference between not being attracted to a someone in terms of having a relationship or sex with them and thinking someone is somehow undeserving of common respect because they are or act a certain way that is not harmful to anyone. But that wasn't even my point. My point was that he has had a lot of sexual partners, so it seems wrong to me that he would judge others (and don't say he's not judging them - he is) for having a lot of sexual partners. But like I said, he is of cours…

And before you say maybe it's because I personally haven't been with a lot of women or something, I have been with many and this ideology still hasn't changed over time. I think part of the "problem" is this. You've been with many women, but that's ok. Women who have been with many men are dirty sluts. You are of course entitled to your own opinion and preferences, but I can't imagine that you don't see the double standard there. And before you go there, women are not locks and men are not keys.
