I was thinking the other day that having most of your sexual encounters where you are invisible to the other people (watching porn) has to have some effect on what you do and feel in sexual encounters where you are visible.

I don't know how you got that from what I wrote, but no, I do not mean zero biological differences.

Yeah, those all tie together.

My take is this - humans evolved to be flexible and socializable. That's why human baby's are so weak, why every human child speaks the language they hear, wears the clothes see, mimics the actions they see. It holds true for adults too. Biologically, humans are machines that must adapt very flexibly to human cultural situations. Simply, human genes (geneotype) produce human bodies (phenotype) to follow human memes (memotype??).

One of the problems with evo psych it's almost impossible to come up with anything more rigorous than a just-so story and genuinely tease apart the effects of biology on psychology vs the effects of society on psychology. An exmple I like is I've heard it proposed casually that women like the color pink because women were gatherers more often, berries are pink, so that's why women like berries. However, it is the case that at different times in history pink was a masculine color, so it seems unl…

Reasonable points, though I disagree with your stance on the legitimacy of gender transition. Your last paragraph is obviously intended to present the former as not being a worthwhile price for the latter. One thing I would point out with regards to argumentation is that anxiety and psychiatric disorders in general are gigantic problems in the western world at the moment, and most treatments have side effects of some sort, and untreated disorders have huge social costs. So I'm not sure if your m…

Honestly, this seems like quibbling over semantics. Is the distinction that important for you?

You have a sequence of logical statements. However an interesting thing about our universe is that conclusions drawn from logical statements aren't always empirically true (thus the philosophical divide between rationalism and empiricism, with empiricism usually being favored in modern perspectives). I mention this because another poster sent me a long post referencing scientific findings that show men are bigger hamsters than women. I'll quote the post for you - I looked up some literature abou…

Good sex doesn't mean every day sex, nor is the reverse true. It's better to have great sex once a week than ok sex every day.

Interestingly, someone sent me studies showing the behavior is more common in men than women. Here is their entire reply - I looked up some literature about it, and they use the terms "self-justification", "post-hoc rationalization", "moral hypocrisy" or "moral disengagement" ("convincing the self that ethical standards do not apply to oneself in a particular context, by separating moral reactions from inhumane conduct by disabling the mechanism of self-condemnation." -Wiki). I looked up hamstering here - https://www.reddit.com/r/TheRedPill/comments/2zckqu/updated_glossary_of_terms_and_acronyms/ Used to describe the way that women use rationalization to resolve mental conflict and avoid cognitive dissonance. The core mechanism that allows women to say one thing and do a different thing.

In my experience, mental contortions to put themselves in a justifiable position rather than honestly facing up to failure is widespread among men and women. Do you frequently encounter men who face the full extent of personal failures head-on without deflecting or minimizing personal blame? It's extremely rare in my experience.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/17 01:18 PM
2

This honestly doesn't match my experience at all. My experience is that almost no people take an active approach to identifying and eliminating their delusional rationalizations, men or women. Do you really often encounter men who are actively trying to identify and eliminate delusional rationalizations they hold?

1) For something to be within "the possible range of human relationships dynamics" it doesn't have to be logically explicable. Not all human relationship dynamics follow logical patterns. 2) For me, it's by deeply interweaving our lives and by identifying my partner with a part of my being, so that improvements to her are improvements to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/17 09:53 PM
1

I'm saying that it is within the range of possible human relationship dynamics for one member to improve without a consequent generation of dread in the partner.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/17 09:40 PM
1

What you say can't happen, I would say can happen, and both our views are based on our personal experience. I can certainly imagine the dynamic you are describing existing, but I can also imagine other dynamics existing. I guess we just fundamentally disagree on the limits of possibility within human relationships.

Could it be possible that all relationships do not operate identically to yours? You seem to be really over-universalizing in my opinion.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/17 09:09 PM
1

Wouldn't it be a more enjoyable relationship if self-improvement was a cause for mutual joy rather than fear? I guess what I'm saying is that while dread seems functional, you can achieve similar functionality through mutual trust and commitment with more upside and less downside.

I don't think alcohol is the primary consideration, it's more of the limited selection of the population involved along with the motivations for attending a certain place. I doubt you would get the same sort of behaviors at the park, the bank, the airport, even if everyone involved had 2-5 drinks.

I don't think that's an accurate understandings of how statistics work. That assumes for some reason intuitive perception will be at the mean, and instances will occur in a standard deviation around intuition. It also presumes only two states and a distribution between these two states. Likely in real life we find way more than two states, so it's less like a 50/50 split and more like 100 different possible future states each with a 1% chance of occurring. That too is a position of hubris though…

Once you have readers reading other readers readings (and so on and so on), there cannot be an objectivity. Everything becomes inter subjectivities. Such will be discourse, forever and on.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/09/13 12:47 AM

If that, then isn't the Bluepill engaging in a bit of selective reading? To what benefit? It probably has to do with the concept of 'deconstruction' which is big in intellectual progressive/leftist analysis. It is considered kind of naive to take the authors arguments at face value without looking for the underlying ideologies at work. This doesn't necessarily mean that "we are always worried about what the relatively uncritical will take away". It's just that understanding what the uncritical w…

I don't thing 'strategizing' is synonymous with 'consciously intentional'. What I was trying to refer to is not the intentionality of this 3/2 thing (and these commandments in general). I was referring to the oppositional nature of the commandments. They make it as if love is a game one plays against an opponent, not a game one plays with a partner.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/08/13 10:46 PM
9

Do you mean from this? http://heartiste.wordpress.com/the-sixteen-commandments-of-poon/ I think strategizing out interactions with your significant other defeats the point of the relationship. I prefer a relationship where each side is engaged in love, not social performance.

It's up to the person asserting a positive claim to back it with evidence. If you look into logical positivism and where it went, you will see how this claim has defeated itself. As for the general ideas behind it, there have been no data points that allow us to understand how American society would evolve in absence of any of it's parts. Given that we cannot understand its evolution in absence of its parts, what then?

Because its a critical theory video, and that is what critical theory does. Does every person who notices a problem have to suggest the solution as well?
/r/MensRights08/03/13 02:02 AM

To be honest, I've found the defense of that idea, the idea that video games don't cause violence, to be self-reflexive and uncritical. What is there to suggest that performing simulated violence is perfectly neutral on the behavior of individuals? It seems like the desired conclusion is accepted without criticism and the undesired conclusion is subjected to the highest levels of scrutiny.

Ok, cool, you understood that narratives have multiple points of entry. Maybe I'd give you 160000 dollars if derrida hadn't figured that out first half a century earlier, or if you had promised to put some effort into producing a cultural product.

Watch out for any entitlement complexes you may have. It's a particularly common trait among men to think they deserve all sorts of stuff that they actually are only blessed to have.

Bitch and fag aren't used, but they along with mangina are all concrete manifestations of the same abstract concept - that you insult a man by taking away his masculinity and replacing it with femininity.
/r/MensRights29/07/11 08:03 PM
7

You are correct here, but it seems that you are elegantly describing one tree while missing out on the forest. What Muforceshoelace was talking about is that the men in question are always labeled with names that are feminizing, or at least anti-masculine, like mangina, bitch, fag, pussy, etc. This isn't an accident.
