A boy in sixth grade told me that wearing yellow made me look "like a big lemon." An older male classmate in high school told me that wearing jeans and a t-shirt made me have an "inner tube" of fat. I don't wear yellow (I decided it "wasn't" my color) and I think about the "inner tube" comment sometimes when I'm wearing jeans and a t-shirt and having an emotional off day.

It's been a solid decade since high school 😅 I'm definitely going to scroll through Facebook to see if I can find her! I would love to send her a thank-you. That'd be a nice woman-focused campaign: women writing thank-you letters to inspiring female professors, teachers, and mentors they had growing up.

I had a math teacher in high school who kept her last name professionally and personally; her husband worked at our school as well. She had published before she got married, too, and justified keeping her name by saying "I wanted to keep my name so everyone knows that I wrote that huge book!" She was such a huge inspiration for me and I wish I could tell her as much!

Ladies, please! No laughing at this tragedy! This man was born with glass bones and paper skin. Every morning he breaks his legs, and every afternoon he breaks his arms. At night, he lies awake in agony until his heart attacks put him to sleep! AND ONLY NUDES CAN REJUVENATE HIS COLD, COLD HEART :'( Lol seriously though, what a concept! This is the dudebro version of "I got a fever and the only cure is more cowbell."

This hit me like a ton of bricks. Even with all I knew about and my experiences with female socialization, the way this tweet is worded just kicked me in the heart. I pretty much raised my little brother, and know so many other first daughters who did so with their own siblibgs. :/

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
