If there’s one thing I learned from my marriage, it’s don’t waste time on someone who repeatedly doesn’t give a fuck.

The thing that really stands out for me is about three years into our marriage. We were renting part of a house and the hot water wasn’t always great. She was getting a bath and I was boiling water for her. I remember walking in the living room and she came out of the bathroom saying “This is the life you’ve given me” and flailed at me. I had to put my arms up to block it. She never really did anything like this again, but it was a huge indicator of how screwed we were. I saw these signs early o…

Hugs are for everyone! I feel your pain. A big reason I’m leaving my marriage is because of affection. I’m an affectionate man. And it’s no secret. You can’t live your life with someone who cringes when you touch them and never need you physically. Tough road ahead for you. But I’m sure hugs will be in your future. Hang in there.

Yeah you need to peace out. This is emotional abuse. I never experienced the violence or silence you did, but my wife would always go for the emotional jugular in fights or when I confronted her about our marital problems. She’d say the most hurtful thing possible and the next day wake up like nothing happened. Completely nuts, IMO.

This . Most states could care less, particularly when it comes to child support. The only point of bringing up infidelities or wrongs that were done is to humiliate the other person - and then the lawyers profit from a protracted divorce and probably you’re poorer and more bitter as a result. If you want to end it, just end it with the least drama possible.

My wife continually ignored my pleas to go to counseling, was very dismissive. Until of course I said I wanted to leave. But I was 100% checked out by then. Had been for years. She’s only been physical with me once, very early on. But she slapped you when a discussion on improving the marriage turned heated?? That’s just so huge. And you sound as miserable as I’ve been. And emasculated. Life is too short. I have kids too and it’s not easy. Go to counseling. Talk to friends you trust. Consulting …

😬😬 My wife found my lawyer notes in the trunk. My separate checking I opened up for the retainer and kids savings. And noticed I switched my personal cell to my business account. Still is living in denial that it’s coming. It’s about to get real.

It’s sucks for sure. I am in the same boat. My kids and 9 & 5 and I haven’t told them yet. I want a divorce and wife doesn’t. Know this though - kids likely are aware something is up. They aren’t stupid. Doesn’t make it any easier, but they see things. Wife and I haven’t slept in the same bed for years.

I think each person has a different need or answer. Some may be ready to jump into the the dating scene and others needs time. I will say if there’s kids involved it makes sense to wait a year or so before injecting a whole new person into their lives. I think that means not living with a new girlfriend or even introducing her to your kids for a while. There’s going to be lots of disruption at first and that would just add to the complexity. But it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t date if you’re ready…

This is my EXACT situation. My post is here. I have young kids too and it sucks. I've been miserable for years, made plenty of mistakes, but I've been the only one who pulled the alarm on our marriage YEARS ago. She now suddenly cares and is trying to be super wife in the last month. Either that or she begs. Someone in another comment here said never stay with a woman who only acts loving and supportive because you want to leave....I think that's 100% right. It's hard to watch the mother of your…
