Actually had to explain to someone recently why it's problematic to refer to underage girls as young women in conversations about consent and sex. Apparently I'm ageist.

Definition of woman is an adult female human. Therefore a young woman would also be an adult. I at no point called them children either. The laws also don't refer to young women, the laws refer to minors actually, would you prefer that?

Again, you've misinterpreted. I didn't say it was a derogatory term. I said it's creepy for adults to look at and discuss underage girls as if they're adults. What's the issue with that statement?

Of course it's different but my point is that a person lying about their age doesn't mean nothing illegal happened. Also, the important thing about your scenario there is that an 18 year old is an adult.

On the first one, do go ahead and point our what I got wrong. On the second one, it's grown men referring to underage girls as young women that I took issue with. I was taking issue with the attempt to "adultise" underage teenage girls. Now, if you don't see a problem with people describing underage girls as adults then we have nothing further to discuss.

Im sorry if u cant see why romeo and Juliet laws were often situations of the older person being misled in most of those cases Simply not true. Romeo and juliet laws are simply a matter of age and no other consideration, they also in many cases are only mitigation. College age men have been often been the target of young women trying to be with someone they know is older then them. Please don't refer to underage girls as young women. It's beyond creepy.

You mean close in age exemptions? Why do you think those exist? Because it is illegal and an exemption or mitigatiom to the illegality was put in place for situations where the pair are within 2-3 years (usually) apart but one is below the age of consent. That is not the same as someone lying about their age to someone old enough to buy alcohol. Someone old enough to buy alcohol and someone under the age of consent wouldn't qualify under more romeo and juliet laws. Especially if there's alcohol …

That's fair but it still warrants an apology. Girls lying about their age is not a defense for anything a guy does based on that information. He should also know who he is having in his house for a party. I can see why she thought she had something on him but there's actually a crime in your example but not in Jaromir's incident.
