This right here. Every time I think about dating again, I think about my kids. I brought them into this world and they should always get as much of me as I have to offer. A new relationship, new drama, new people who may or may not stick around is a lot of trauma for kids to deal with. I divorced and pulled my life to pieces to protect them, as of right now 100% of my relationships have failed, I have little faith that my next one wont either and because of that, I dont want to put my kids throu…

Dont lose yourself. Lots of ways to lose yourself in a relationship, but losing ones self is the fastest way to ruin your marriage. When you marry someone, there is a certain expectation that the person you married will be the same person or a better person until death. Now of course this could mean many things to many people, but think of who you are today. How you feel, how you look, what you enjoy doing, what makes you happy and really see yourself. This is the person your SO married, this is…

You sound desperate. The problem is you want a relationship, which gives off huge vibes that you arent capable of being on your own, which means you are someone that needs to be taken care of. When you want a relationship, you blind yourself to who you are really dating. You look past the red flags and convince yourself that this person is the one. Once the new relationship lust wears off, you will have diminished interest in your partner. You give off this vibe and the fact that youve already a…

It was a better time because the world was a better place. Wages were higher, life was easier, global warming was just a crack pot theory.

Its not weird and you shouldnt look too far into it. I have a great relationship with my exs family. Just today I was at my former FIL house all day swimming with him, his wife, his step daughter, his son, his daughter, his mother and my two kids, no ex wife. The reality is they were a big part of my life for almost 14 years, they are still direct family to my kids. Ive always had a good relationship with them and because of my kids, they will always be a part of my life and me theirs. They are …

Or maybe dating apps are just full of garbage? But could be as well.

Yeah, anyone pushing 40 should not have kids. Completely agree.

Choice 4, find a good woman with or without kids who isnt looking for a baby daddy. They do exist.

You dont have kids, you dont understand the risk you take bringing a stranger into your house and their life. Also what made you think I am "so against divorced women with kids"? I literally said I was fine with it and have no problems, I just think women who use kids in their online dating profile pictures are weird and creepy. It makes me feel like you are saying you are a package deal, which IMO is just stupid. Really putting the cart before the horse here. It looks desperate, it looks like t…

Thank you. And even if I had my kids 100% of the time, I wouldnt put them in my online dating profile.

Save an existing marriage? It takes two people to do that and id rather be single than in a miserable marriage. Single and lonely is still 100X better than married and miserable.

I disagree with this. Nearly every girl has a drink and a photo of them at a bar and a beach. Their bio always says they are looking for "the one" and want kids. Its super uncommon to see the situation you are describing in my experience.

Oh no, its a fact. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/autism-maternal-age/ The researchers found that mothers over 40 had a 51 percent higher risk of having a child with autism than mothers 25 to 29, and a 77 percent higher risk than mothers under 25.

You have a better chance of standing out and making a first connection with your hobbies, even if it is dissecting dead people. Plus its not like they arent going to learn them eventually, so might as well be upfront about it. If your profile is travel/coffee/dogs/alcohol you better have a rockin body/face to compete with all the other profiles identical to yours.

I understand that, its still weird and creepy IMO. I have my kids 50% of time, no I wouldnt. Im old enough and experienced enough to know that most relationships fail, im not going to introduce my kids to someone who they might really like only to have them leave one day. 4-5 months is nothing in terms of a lifetime relationship. Even at that 4-5 months is still the honey moon phase of a relationship, no way can you truly see the flaws in a person in that time frame.

For real... Saying you love to travel is like saying you love to eat, yeah we all do. You arent some mystic gypsies of the world because you back packed through europe for 2 months, you were just homeless.

Yeah Im seeing that as well. So many profiles with "If you arent interested in marriage and kids, swipe left". Like ok, do you really think a good man who is interested in those things is going to see your profile and think "This is the one!"?
/r/Divorce_Men03/06/24 11:39 PM

lol not at all. Honestly, just a woman who accepts the reality of where she is in life and understands that relationships are never going to live up to a Nicholas Sparks book. Like show me your personality, traveling/dogs/coffee/alcohol is not a personality. Saying you want an honest/loyal/smart/caring/etc man means nothing to me because every man either thinks they are that or doesnt care. I saw one profile today, the girl rides motorcycles and I got super excited because I also ride, I tried t…

I agree and see this as well. I grew up with alcoholic parents and ill admit I had a drinking problem most of my life. However neither my parents or myself considered it a drinking problem since we all did well in our jobs and lives, but looking back now I can see all the problems alcohol caused that I didnt even realize. I went from drinking basically a 6 pack every night to maybe 1-2 drinks a month and thats usually just because im getting a nice dinner with friends or something where a drink …

I never said anything about childless. How about just a single woman in her 30s that doesnt look like a train wreck needing someone to come lift her up?

I dont think I did that, but this has been my experience so far using dating apps. I am sure their are just as many low IQ piece of shit men on those apps as well. Dating apps are not for dating IMO, they are for making money and making a small percentage of the people on them feel validated about themselves. Bumble/Hinge look more like an Instagram feed than a dating bio. Just single men/women bragging about their lives and hoping it makes them feel better by the amount of attention they get.

Ever wonder why so many fatal pitbull maulings have quotes from the owners like "She never did anything like this before", "She came from a loving home", etc etc. Do you just consciously choose to believe those people are lieing and didnt raise and train them well? And if so, how do you explain the higher rates of bites and mauling by pitbulls over other breeds? How do you know you trained and raised yours well enough? I had an old coworker, who had multiple dogs/pets. His wife is a veterinarian…

Sorry but thats just not true. Every dog that exists was bred from wolves by humans. That means every dog that exists was bred for a purpose. Retrievers for example, were bred to retrieve things. Hound dogs, were bred to track things. Pointers were bred to find things. Terriers were bred to hunt rats/small game. Collies were bred to heard animals. Pitbulls were bred to viciously attack animals(Bulls/Cows hence the name Pit as in the actual pit and bull as in the animal) in a pit before slaughter…

Im not gonna disagree with you there. When my ex and I first started dating she definitely put in work to make up for what she didnt bring to the table in other areas. Id say for the first year or two she really did put in the work to help me grow as a person. However after marriage it took a dive, then after kids it fell of a cliff. And yes, i completely agree that women today have super unrealistic expectations about what men should be providing them with. I also saw first hand how divorce is …

Yeah my ex who did light modeling and was a solid 8 when we met is now easily 40lbs over weight with diet and exercise habits that wont be improving the situation any time soon. Im pretty sure she convinced herself that she could do better than me prior to the divorce based on how it all went down. I was the one who spent the last 2 years of our marriage in therapy, quitting alcohol, drugs, exercising and getting myself to the point of no longer needing antidepressants. She on the other hand ref…

I dont need sex, 2 years of a dead bedroom taught me that! Towards the end even if she tried to initiate sex id turn her down as it was just easier to rub one out then put in the effort of getting someone off high on a double dose of ambien and 3 glasses of wine deep.

Honestly, boredom. When the kids are at their moms its lonely and boring. There are some things I enjoy doing that I just dont enjoy doing by myself. Spending your free time with self improvement is great for self improvement, but not always so great for your mental health in regards to desire for companionship and just having a friend to help carry the emotional load of life.

It gets easier the more you tell people. People understand are a lot more compassionate, at least in my circles. Marriages fail, it hurts and it sucks. Sometimes it your fault, sometimes its their fault, sometimes its both your faults. One of my ex wifes aunts who I always liked and got along well with said this to my ex and it made a world of difference to me. "I dont want to hear whos fault it was, it took two people to get married, it takes two people to get divorced."

Well i just did that experiment, and the app changed the women I can talk to without having to pay. Which means they had my height set as a deal breaker.

I have no problem with confidence or attracting women IRL, I jsut dont have time to be out IRL meeting women. Figured id try a dating app, what a dumpster pile.

LMAO, seriously this. Every girl, "Travel, Coffee, Alcohol and Dog" Its just a copy a paste. Also saw one today with obvious filters, like like edited eye color and skin texture "I just want someone genuine"...

maybe its my area, so i signed up, got hinge+ and I get about 1-2 likes a day, but not from people I would consider dating. Then the ones I would like to message are locked behind paying $2-3 dollars per message. But I can upgrade to Hinge(whatever) and have a better chance? Like god damn how much money do they need?
