Quite a few of us. In all my relationships I gave way more head than I ever got. I don't and won't go down with casual partners though. Just for a disease risk.

Some mistakes are worth making, just to know they're mistakes.

This self help bullshit is ridiculous and if I were a woman, would seem to me like total desperation. Because almost by definition it is, if you're just doing it to get laid. Just live your life. Challenge yourself, try new things, enjoy your life. But do it for you, not because maybe girls will be interested.

The comments you list are bad attitudes. The first because it's just degrading nonsense, and the second because it's as you describe. Unmotivated and boring. Those men need to be better and do better, but not in a race to beat other men in the competition of getting laid. That just leads to your whole life and self-esteem circling around your success with women, instead of being a full person in your own right. I'm firmly in the camp of self-improvement, not least because it did lead me to have …

I can't say this enough. Fuck. That. If your whole life is structured around how you can be constantly improving, particularly focused on dating, that's a recipe for car crash self-esteem, toxic habits and poor relationships if they ever arrive. You'll never be enough for you, let alone for anyone else and you'll never be happy, comfortable or safe. I agree with have physical hobbies, but because it's healthy and good for you, mentally and physically. Do things you enjoy, that you find interesti…

Anecdotal, but tends to be the opposite in my relationships where I've been much more the emotional support and she doesn't quite know what to do on the rare occasion that I'm struggling emotionally.

The original post offered no statistics and just made broad generalisations, and at one point actually actually said 'in my experience'. The original argument was made solely on personal experiences, biases and generalisations, so what's wrong responding with the same?

They don't, because they reflect online dating only. They don't reflect what women and men go for in real life, just in the artificial and overly superficial online dating marketplace. You can't generalise from studies about online dating to in-person interactions, because there are a huge range of factors that differ between those. The data is descriptive, it doesn't say what people will do, only what they have done in this specific circumstance. And there is something useful to be gained from …

I think a date/relationship/sexual partner should always be a side-quest, and never your main quest. At least earlier in life, until you've made some significant main quest progress. People who are desperately unhappy and consider it to be solely based on their relationship status, likely wouldn't be happy just because they got a relationship. More likely you'd just have a bit of a poor relationship because you'll become dependent. Not an exclusive rule, but Ive seen it happen a lot. So yeah, I'…

Making your own informed opinions includes listening to your friends. You don't have to do what they say just because they say it, but if all the friends you love and trust unanimously hate the person you're with, maybe ask why exactly that is?

Depends on the change and if I agree/think it would be a good thing. Shaving a beard? Absolutely not. That would be like me dictating how she does her makeup, or what clothes she's allowed to wear. A man who would shave his beard solely to get laid, is no true man.

I think it's fair to say that in the hypothetical situation where you met two people with identical personalities and one was better looking, you'd probably pick that person. But it's a meaningless hypothetical that will never happen. In reality i'd pick an average girl I was attracted to who's personality I loved, over a stunningly gorgeous girl who I didn't think that much of.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
