You have to understand and appreciate that when that book was written, traditional gender roles were universal in society. No Facebook, no internet, no online dating, no glorification of 'Kickazz' single mothers and divorce was looked down upon. Any girl who had sex outside of marriage was shamed by society. Sounds like a bullshit excuse to me, brother. If anything, she probably didn't help it go anywhere and is now blaming her ex for that refusing to take any responsibility. I'd ask her what specifically she means and why she felt it 'wasn't going anywhere', but she probably put 0 effort in to change that, got bored and it's all his fault so she ditched. I wouldn't be surprised if she pulls the same shit with you, so keep your eyes open and don't get too attached.
