The STD risk is higher when you are committing adultery... or when you're having a messed up "open" relationship. Versus single people fucking whomever they want, or serial monogamists? Nearly every adult has more than one partner in their lifetime. Plenty of people who seem "monogamous" are actually cheating. The STI risks are the same for these groups. It was pretty out of nowhere to her, but we talked about it for a long time and really examined how we felt about it. It was a long time before either one of us even dipped our toes in the water. You could definitely sue for false arrest if this story was true (which it isn't) because even a cursory investigation would have revealed that the guy was her stepfather.
