There were plenty of literate people before government theft of resources became the norm. When that kid grows up and becomes a criminal and you find yourself on the end of his gun as he's robbing you, boy will you think it would have been easier to pay 0.05 cents worth of taxes a year to help make society better. As a Canadian I find your opinion humourous. Do you also have to prepay the fire department before they can put a fire? In my late 20's I was afraid of being "old and lonely". Now all my friends are married or divorced, have kids and are miserable/broke and slowly becoming alcoholics/addicts as a means of avoiding their own lives. Meanwhile I just finished up another 2 year program, have banked money, travel at my leisure and best of all I do whatever the fuck I want. Couldn't be happier.

I'm a Canadian. Socialist states fail because the ruler of planet earth generally imposes crippling sanctions on socialist states and works very hard to destabilize those government by funding rebels and providing arms to internal groups. If I had the funds and ability, I'm sure if I provided enough money and arms to groups inside the US that opposed the government while at the same time starving the people of the US with military blockades and sanctions, the US would fall fairly quickly
