It happened to me once in a bar. I didn’t really do anything besides move her hand off me and leave. I didn’t recognize it as sexual assault until wayyy afterwards. She kept putting her hand on my thigh and moving it upwards. I just kind of accepted it because I was in a totally different state that I’ve never been to. An older me probably would have consulted the police, but I just moved her hand and walked out of the bar in fear that her friends would try to hurt me for rejecting her advances.

As others have said, limiting socials helps. There was a point where I would ruminate over comments such as this, and I had to totally remove myself from any medium where I may become exposed to it. After a while of doing so, I can now see the forest from the trees. The people who will make remarks like that are typically extraordinarily dysfunctional people who are disliked by a majority of people who come into contact with them. Saw a post earlier today positing the fact that the drastic over representation of women in academic teaching positions causes for women to be graded higher on average than men, but of course none of that comes into play when people write these articles
