7	How Disney's Turning Red normalises false accusations No, it is played for comedic effect. The movie would be characterizing it as bad behavior if they held the mother responsible for her choices and brought her back around to the boy in order to apologize to him. That never happens. Certainly not for the boy. Only Mei is treated as a human being in that scenario with her mother realizing that she has negatively affected her daughter. 1	Déjà vu -- man tries to strike up a conversation in Starbucks The writer of the original story literally characterized it as “talking to her”. That’s all they wrote.
