Ah fuck me. I'm Dutch so I'm not too god damn happy about this shit. I thought this was old news, but it turns out it's a pretty new article Summary: A Dutch engineering university is taking radical action to increase its share of female academics by opening job vacancies to women only. Starting on 1 July, the Eindhoven University of Technology (TUe) in the Netherlands will not allow men to apply for permanent academic jobs for the first 6 months of the recruitment process under a new fellowship…

I don't like your beard because I really like your face Well, I don't like my face without a beard. and I want an uninterrupted view of it. I don't care, lady. I know it's an opinion piece and she's absolutely free to give her opinion. And I'm free to absolutely shit all over it

Yeah, but that doesn't stop it from _happening! _ We'll need to control people's thoughts to force them to not do the things we don't want them to do! /s

In short: the only reason most men are CEOs is because there are barely any women crazy enough to pull such crazy long hours. I'm personally not CEO material, because I wouldn't want to make 80+ hours a week. There are, however, other men who ARE willing to do that (and more power to them, as far as I care)!

I understand your position, but one datapoimt does not make for a statistic. Please don't project your personal position on an entire country, you can do better then that!

Apparently keeping the house and kicking your partner out of the house is poverty now. TBH, the article was mostly about the UK and not the US, no? Their laws are likely different.

The GamerGate movement popularized the word on Reddit when they were banned from 4chan and migrated over to /r/KotakuInAction. Ehm... Pretty sure most 4channers moved to 8chan. That's why /gamergatehq/ is relatively big. KiA isn't the only place where GamerGate was talked about. Looks like Tim Squirrell is just either ignorant or being malicious and trying to push some "everybody is absolutely equal" bullshit. (Yes, people should be equal under the law, but that's not the equality I'm talking ab…

So, I found the original article and a specific "quote": Another software engineer who used to work for Google, Kelly Ellis, says some women who still work at the company stayed home Monday because the memo made them "uncomfortable going back to work." So, no count on the amount of women that stayed home. I've got a feeling this is getting blown out of proportion. I still agree with the point being made though.

Join us as we celebrate the finest female talent in Australia. If that's a quote (which it is), please place a > in front of the quote to mark the quote visually as a quote. Otherwise it seems you are saying we should join that nonsense. Also, change the links to [source](http://www.something.com/) so it doesn't look like you're spamming links :)

Yeah, I agree that Sequence diagrams are handy (haven't seen state diagrams since my UML intro, last year) to some extent, and I do think that UML is a bit too glorified in my school. It's great to convey some basic information when written down on a whiteboard or napkin, but kind of ridiculous when you need to specify every little detail in a diagram, just for the assignment. In the end, code is what matters. UML is only to steer yourself into the right direction.

I like that https://www.newssniffer.co.uk/ website. It gives a pretty decent look in how often news articles are altered. we see the usual nonsense of pushing lies and myths about Ada Lovelace with the utterly false claim that she was the “first programmer”. What's this about, eh? Who is (one of) the first programmers then? The <goto> Foundation aims to make computer science more meaningful to the general public, generate interest and excitement in computing and help to create a tech savvy workf…

But WOMEN DIDN'T HAVE THE VOTE!! Neither did most men, even after 1884: "Even after the passing of the Third Reform Act in 1884, only 60% of male householders over the age of 21 had the vote." First reform act (1832) - about 1 in 7 million men can vote Second reform act (1967) - Enabled about 40% of men to vote Third reform act (1884) - Enabled about 60% of men to vote, still no women. Fourth reform act (1918) - "extending the franchise by 5 million men and 8.4 million women." Fifth reform act (…

Its not only about the physical damage done. Yes male bodies are generally more able to take a hit, but it still can fuck you up on a mental level, whether it was a hard hit or not.
