Looks matter less to women than men, of course, but they still matter a lot. Looks are the only thing that gave me any positive results at all with women when I was younger, when I suffered from being a clueless nervous weirdo.

An attractive man does whatever the fuck he wants. Another thing that's sometimes at play here...a lot of these pseudo-nice guys have trouble with emotional connection. Maybe they don't even really understand what one feels like. So they view dating as transactional, and they assume that acting nice increases the value they are offering, and therefore should by definition improve their results.

Just clarify exactly what the situation really is. Women do have more value than you in the dating market. They have something you want, that is not easy to get. Meanwhile, what you have is fairly easy for them to get. All that means is that you have unfortunate constraints you need to learn to work with. Yes, if you grade on a curve compared to all the other awful dating advice books out there, this one is very good.
