Perhaps consider therapy to help you with your issues. I terms of a social life, what hobbies do you have or would like to start. Get into the habit of meeting people, not just girls, and let things develop from there. Can I recommend reading Mark Mason's book Models.

There is an 'unwritten' rule of half your age plus seven. So as a 50 year old, consider the lower age to be 32. On the other hand, you're a grown man and she's a grown woman, who cares what other people think.

Unless she has the word 'tourist' tattooed on her forehead you can still ask the question. I probably wouldn't ask her opinion of the best coffee shop as you can't then offer to be a guide.

Dancing is good. I went to salsa class for two years. Learn a skill and, because you're paired up one-to-one with a lady in the dance class, there is no social pressure.

What hobbies do you have. More to the point, 1. what hobbies can you enthuse about for hours, 2. what hobbies do you do where you can meet new people/women, personally I learnt salsa because I like dancing and it's perfect to meet new people.

Verbatim is probably unfair, not least without reading the full book it would be out of context. Besides some people do find value in their books. On saying that I'd look forward to a summary with the occasional verbatim example.

Give us something to work with. How often do you go out? Do you ask girls out but you're rejected or is it the follow up? What are your hobbies? What's your job? What kind of music do you like, what's your style? Do you have many male friends, what about female friends?

How often do you go to the gym. How's your style, does it need some work. How authentic are you, are you overwhelmed when you meet a pretty girl. Status is important, are you seen as a leader. Hobbies, do you have interests which would make you an interesting guy. A good start might be to read Models by Manson.

Just to add my two bits. Talk to anyone ... doesn't matter if it's a man or woman, talk to them. Be sociable. Actually it's probably better to get into the habit of talking to anyone as you don't want to be that guy only talking to woman. As he says above don't compliment their looks. I always compliment their style. Looks is what they're born with and every chad is going to compliment them on it, style is what they spent an hour working on before they came out.

Try to have fun conversations, flirty comes with time - especially if you're as sarcastic as I am. Chill, don't drink too much Halloween is an easy time as conversations tend to flow more easily.

A well dressed man, wearing clothes that both fit and suit him, wearing suitable shoes/boots perhaps with a decent watch will attract more attention than a man who just threw a pair of jeans and stupid t-shirt on. Be aware of what you're wearing rather than just wearing it because it's clean. In addition, a decent haircut, trimming the beard, learning not to slouch, start going to the gym etc Ultimately it means putting the effort in.

The reason people join this Reddit in part is because they struggle to get a relationship of one sort or another with a woman. They will have experienced the negative aspects of approaching women, and will continue to do so until they gain experience or gain thicker skin. It's the more 'incel' comments here which I feel are more concerning although they do get shut down pretty quick.

I'm assuming you feel in the city, when you're dressed up, you're more likely to meet someone. Let's have a look how you can do this passively and actively. Passively: travelling to and from the office, do you use public transport, walk, drive. What opportunities do you have to meet people. Shops/coffeeshop before/after/ lunchtime do you get a chance to meet people. After work do you go straight home or do you see people. Hobbies - do you have any hobbies you could do after work, gym, dancing, d…

If you feel you're damaged goods, get therapy. Talk to someone about it. The truth is most of us are damaged in some way or other. What the rest of us don't do is use 'damaged goods' as an excuse not to approach. Good luck.

Neil Strauss the Game, it's a really good read. To be honest I got more out of other books but I enjoyed reading it.

It's a difference between outer and inner game. My personal opinion is inner game: working on yourself to become more confident; have a better body; learning fashion; having a hobby that both means you get to meet women outside a club environment and, if you're good enough, makes you the alpha in that situation ... drives the outer game. My opinion is biased as I am an introvert. Other people may feel more comfortable jumping straight to outer game and don't feel the need to work on themselves. …

Take dance classes. You get to learn the basics. Salsa classes usually have more women than men so you get to socialize. Girls are impressed when you know how to lead in salsa.

Just to add to this join a club where you'll meet people, not necessarily women. Get good at it. Not just the opportunity to practice social skills but also you'll have something to talk about. There's something very attractive about somebody getting enthused about a hobby they have ... be that somebody.

I took up salsa dancing. I'm also active in martial arts. More importantly, what do you enjoy and what's available in your area? Perhaps a watercolor painting or pottery class might be more your style. I'd love to do a community college course, perhaps public speaking or acting just to get rid of my own inhibitions. The important thing is something you'll enjoy and has the potential of building a social circle.

Not a problem and thank you for sharing. This sub is quite good in that it's non judgemental. Most of the advice is geared towards how do you improve yourself and how to make yourself the sort of person a woman would want to date. Can I ask what your hobbies are, where do you meet people? Do you have a social circle?

Do you have any hobbies? I took up salsa dancing a few years ago, more for myself than to actually meet people, now if I go to a salsa club (if any were actually open here) I would know half the girls there.

Such good advice. Start with self improvement, hit a gym, do martial arts, join a salsa class. You'll meet girls outside of the usual places and feel better about yourself. Stay safe.
