Are you sure? I thought the kind of love girls get on spring break is the purest kind.

Ma’am, objectivity from many women in this sub isn’t possible either. Have you ever tried arguing that a woman might have done anything wrong? Some of them make the men seem positively reasonable. In a shocking turn of events, it turns out objectivity is a “people” problem.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 02:34 PM
1

That’s a good question. I’m not sure off the top of my head. For better or worse, most stats (at least that I’m aware of) tend to look at physical infidelity.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 02:09 PM
2

It’s probably a factor, although relative SMV probably matters more. We have good reason to think men have the advantage as they get older (okcupid stats as a quick example). And this perceived difference seems to play a big role in relationship dissatisfaction, which in turn may precipitate infidelity. We also have to keep in mind that a common avenue for men cheating is prostitutes as well. And you don’t need any SMV to make that happen, just a few hundred bucks.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 02:07 PM
3

For sure. It could absolutely be a demographic effect where things will even out in the coming years. Unfortunately we won’t really know that until we get there.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 01:24 PM

I’m a little rusty on this, but I believe there are multiple explanations. One is the classic evo-psyche style argument where men’s mate value starts to match/exceed their wife more as they get older so they are more inclined to cheat. I’d imagine you also have factors like women drifting further from a man’s ideal age (20s) as they are. Men are also more likely to do stuff like go to prostitutes which plays a pretty big role.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/03/25 01:23 PM
22

You see it in most infidelity stats. At least these days, young people cheat approximately the same amount and then older men start outpacing older women. This is the first super quick example I could find, but it’s pretty representative. Iirc younger women cheating as much as men is a newer phenomenon so is this an age thing or a generational/demographic thing? I’m not sure that’s established. But in broad strokes it’s definitely born out statistically.

This mother fucker betrayed us
/r/AllPillDebate28/06/23 04:05 AM

Yea, I wouldn’t want to be in that position. I just feel like a) if this was a prolific problem, we should already be seeing it to some significant extent with images, but we really aren’t and b) to the extent improvements to AI make this easier to do, people will become increasingly skeptical of any video “evidence.”
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/23 09:10 PM

It’s not the same because, what, it moves? It’s easier to do? Ultimately both can fake images to appear real when they aren’t. And ultimately both can be decouple with careful analysis. Or not so careful analysis. “I have a mole on my shoulder right here, and it isn’t in the video.”
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/23 09:05 PM

Okay, imagine any crime. Now imagine how easy it’s been for me to photoshop a picture of you doing that for the last few decades. Don’t you think photoshop has a lot of implications? Why haven’t we been living in fear for decades now? Oh, that’s right. Because digital forensics can catch edited photographs, and for the most part nobody has sufficient motivation to do it anyway.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/23 09:00 PM

Not once deepfakes become commonplace enough that they are common knowledge. You guys act like this stuff is new, but it really isn’t. We have had people faking nudes for ages, deepfakes just make them move. Is some shopped nude gonna make me lose my job? I doubt it. They are usually pretty easy to disprove anyway.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/23 08:53 PM

Then explain the consequences besides “trust me bro.”
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/23 08:51 PM

Oh, I totally believe someone could fake my face onto a porn video. What I don’t understand is why I should give a fuck. Cool, send it to my family. “That isn’t me, lol.” Done.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/02/23 08:41 PM

But how could you be blackmailed by a deep fake if it isn’t real? Oh no! Someone shopped my face into a video of someone else! What ever will I do?! Hell, even if it is real, once deepfakes become commonplace you can just go “nah, that isn’t real. Obvious deepfake.”

Most girls I’ve met who are like this don’t seem to give enough of a fuck about their current boyfriend to really care (as long as they secure the upgrade). Every case I’ve personally been involved in was a girl clearly trying to transition into upgrading boyfriends as opposed to simply sleeping with someone. To the point of not even batting an eye as they mention having a boyfriend or talking down about him as they flirt with you.

I feel like the married guys who feel the need to “alpha” up their marriage probably don’t have much unruined marriage left to begin with. Married red pill, for example, isn’t attracting men who are trilled with the state of their marriage.

What do you think natural selection is? You mean that thing that positively selects for organisms that had sex? Plenty of mentally ill people have sex. “Sex use a positive impact on general well-being” =\= “sex is the only determinant of well-being. But they also help me find jobs and help me get money. Oh, yea, I’ve never heard of people helping their romantic partners either. It’s not like they are even more likely to help and with larger things than platonic friends.

It is popularly theorized that homo sapiens became the dominant human species because we were more community based than neanderthals. Fun fact: we also became the dominant species because we had a lot of sex. If “being evolutionarily successful” is your metric for success, I’d say having sex is far better correlated than having friends on the individual level. Other than reproduction, all sex really is give a massive emotional high. Sexual intimacy provides more than just an “emotional high.” Un…
/r/PurplePillDebate19/01/23 03:26 PM

I think sex (or really romantic intimacy) is a need in the sense that normal socialization and friends are a need. You can’t expect people to just offer to be your friend, and there are a few people who seem to be able to go their whole lives without it and be fine. But your average person will probably come out a little fucked up if they don’t get it. I don’t see anything “entitled” about saying people need friends. Hell, many women here propose it all the time as a stand-in for sex without not…

I mean, there are a lot of different opinions on what the root cause is. It seems to me that some have more obvious answers than others. If you’re the kind of person who just thinks women being inherently picky is the primary cause, you’re right, a clear resolution for both men and women seems unlikely. Either women have to settle or the men have to be lonely. However, if you’re the sort that thinks the recent increase in lonely men is primarily due to something like women having access to highe…

/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 11:22 PM
1

Why is one so different than the other? Both are making significant compromises to get a partner. Do you have a further rationale, or are we just arbitrarily drawing a line somewhere?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 11:13 PM
1

In that case, isn’t it reasonable to conclude that the fundamental issue isn’t actually “economics,” as men are entirely unphased in the face of a minor mismatch. Isn’t the driving issue instead women’s pickiness?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 11:07 PM
3

You realize that rationale works in reverse for the other half of the bell curve, right? There equivalently aren’t enough high tier women to match the high tier men and they are stuck settling for average Beckies. The difference is just that men aren’t obsessed with dating someone better than themselves.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 11:01 PM

Well the average age of first sex is around 16 or 17, so the average 18 year old has been sexually actively for ~1.5 years and the 21 year old for ~4.5 years. 2-3x seems totally reasonable to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/01/23 10:56 PM

Well obviously it wouldn’t. Women hate SAHDs.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/01/23 11:09 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate11/01/23 12:18 AM

If I’m understanding this right, are you pegging 5 (maybe 6) as around the average person? Because if so, the idea of not being friends with a 4 who is a great person seems like madness to me. I’d consider rethinking your priorities in friendship, if so.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/01/23 11:08 PM
1

There are almost certainly physical cues people pick up on, actually. To give one example, based on actual research, women with bigger breasts are generally seen as more promiscuous. So that probably plays some role in being in the “sexy” category. I think it’s probably just the divide between (seemingly) promiscuous vs demure women. Or at least the physique cues people read for those traits. So smaller boobs and a rounder/cuter face might be more “pretty” than “sexy.”

These stats are based on a study. You can go try to find it and read it if you’re sufficiently motivated. It includes stats on men that the Infograph doesn’t show. Even if you think women have more “real” backups, due to how loose the inclusion criteria in the study were, men reported a high number of backups as well. Maybe you think that’s wrong, but it also draws into question how high women’s numbers are, as they would be overinflated as well.

I think it says more about the kinds of men women notice in the first place. If the genuinely nice guy just isn’t in your radar, thats pretty telling.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/11/22 12:42 PM

I have never seen women lust over a decent guy. I think the way I’d phrase it is “I haven ever seen women lust over a guy because he is decent.” I’ve seen women lust over guys despite being decent because he has enough other positive traits to still make him attractive, but that’s still damning of being “decent” in its own way. On the other hand, I’ve definitely seen women lust after guys because they aren’t decent…

I feel like the people I’ve seen get mad about this, they are specifically mad about “sorry.” They don’t want you apologizing to that person, because that means you might still like them and are only turning them down because you’re taken. It’s nitpicking over “sorry, I’m taken” vs “I’m taken.” They probably think the best answer is, “I’m taken, you stupid bitch,” just to remove any possible ambiguity.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/11/22 01:11 PM

When you say upset, do you mean the people who are like “you should have actually said “no, I have a bf/gf, sorry implies you’re interested?”

Yea, it’s a possibility, but I’m not really sure how much it changes. On the one hand you might have someone with unrestricted sociosexuality and therefore a high likelihood to cheat. On the other you might have someone with restricted sociosexuality, but who is highly dysfunctional in relationships. I’m not sure I’m all that keen on either option.

It’ll depends pretty heavily on their genetics. I imagine most FTM hormone doses are in the range of a normal adult man, which clearly isn’t causing the beardless guys to grow a beard. You need the hormones, but you also need the receptors to respond well to them. It would probably help low T guys a bit, but some of us are high T and still have shit beards.

First and foremost, depression should be treated by a medical professional. 2) If your doctor doesn’t suggest it (they likely will), get your blood levels checked to make sure you don’t have any kind of vitamin deficiency. Vitamin D being the most obvious, as deficiencies are quite common. 3) Exercise! I find resistance training works the best, but anything is good. 4) Get outside more. G…

/r/PurplePillDebate03/10/22 02:50 PM

In the former, it’s one category among many. Maybe she likes that you’re tall, handsome, charismatic, assertive, and support. I’m the latter, it’s the primary selling point. You’re supportive, and that feels really nice and she will accept the rest of the package regardless to get that.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/10/22 02:05 PM

Clearly the obsessiveness is perceived as exploitative and predatory to the other party. Sure, but I think this is only for the obsessive types, not the people who just have it as a preference. To go with your gold digger analogy, I don’t find it remotely predatory if a woman expects me to be consistently employed. If she only wants me for a high earning job, though… Even if they “understand the rationale,” they still don’t like it, which leads to feelings of resentment and general bitterness to…
/r/PurplePillDebate01/10/22 02:20 PM

For now Yea, this is how I think the quintessential “beta bucks” scenario goes most of the time. I don’t think women are really dating guys they are entirely unattracted to. Rather, they date a guy who is clearly inferior to their previous conquests, but NRE gives enough of a dim glow to the relationship that it’s worth it because he’s such a “good guy.” Unfortunately NRE doesn’t last forever…

only value This is always the issue, isn’t it? Yes, it would be terrible to have a partner who only values you for your virginity. But as you alluded to, it almost always sucks to have someone value you for any singular trait. We should just be sure to avoid making the mistake if thinking that because some people obsessively vet on [only X] that vetting on X in general is somehow unreasonable.

The hierarchy isn’t the point, the results it gets are. Oh, absolutely. But that’s kind of what I’m getting at. As OP suggested, the struggling to get sex is an estimation of where one falls on the sexual hierarchy, but that isn’t the only thing that below low on the hierarchy gets you. It might also mean that what intimacy you do get is more unenthusiastic than if you were higher on the hierarchy. And it’s no wonder that stings.

Everyone talks about being a boob man or butt man. Apparently the real play is to be a gut man.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/09/22 06:06 PM

I’m not sure I’d underestimate his perspective. I think “sexual hierarchy” makes it more clinical than it needs to be, but I think there’s some truth to it, even it it might be better put in terms of intimacy and enthusiasm. I think a lot of guys notice that the same guys who are “getting sex” due to being “high on the hierarchy” are also the ones women are most enthusiastic about and most willing to give intimacy to. Is it any surprise they make the connection?

Melanin itself? Not to my knowledge. It’s just a pigment. I’m not even sure there would be a reasonable mechanism for that. Only thing I can find that would even be remotely plausible is that it can scavenge ROS, but tons of things do that too. Certain demographics high in melanin have, on average, marginally increased testosterone vs others. Yep, exactly. I agree with the other posters here. Let’s say it is pee. Who gives a shit? It’s both very dilute pee, and it shows she was so turned on that she can’t control herself. The former isn’t a big deal and the latter is really hot.

I wanna fuck you Incredibly telling as far as what your mindset is. You only want to get your dick wet? No shit you don’t particularly care about how her friends might influence her. not like bro is getting married to her. He already asked for an exclusive relationship. He clearly wants something more serious and long term. Whether or not they get married, I doubt he wants someone actively sabotaging it.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/09/22 07:30 PM

It’s dumb, ditzy advice, but it’s still incredibly manipulative. Let’s not downplay that fact. As I said in my other comment, I think he’s overreacting a bit, but no don’t think disliking the fact she has manipulative friends and is easily influenced is unreasonable at all. I don’t think disliking that a girl has shitty friends necessarily implies he doesn’t like her as a person.

Glad to hear it went reasonably well. I’m ngl, while I think his reaction is a little extreme, I kinda get it. Kind of, but not seriously worried. IIRC science shows that the best relationships have something like 20:1 positive:negative interaction ratios. If you're skewing more positive than that, the relationships tend to fail more. However, the reason it's a problem (at least IIRC) has to do with one partner being a pushover, being placating, and eventually resentment building up. If you feel like you're having disagreements but settling them amicably instead of having "real" arguments, you're most li…

I’d absolutely be concerned she’s the kind of girl who would “play games,” but I’d still be more inclined to date her than if I thought she didn’t like me at all or if she saw me as a second choice. Most guys hate it when girls play games, but they at least hate that less than if the girl is crushing on someone else. Sure. My point is negative stereotypes around female promiscuity could be relevant if women are being perceived as promiscuous for reason out of their control. Either way, more of a tangent. If you don’t care, you don’t care.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/09/22 04:59 PM

That’s apparently not the only factor. Previous research has shown that females with large breasts are perceived as being more promiscuous

What poster? Dbz19_kai? Yes, Dbz. I’m not trying to be a hero. Perfect. Do you seriously think calling a woman who is shaming men “loose pussy” is a mature way of handling what you’re portraying as a serious topic of dick shaming? Of course not, but it’s funny. And citing studies at some random person in the moment isn’t going to be productive either, anymore than citing studies of psychological bias to a racist will. That doesn’t mean the information isn’t useful outside of a direct confrontation. Do you think calling men “SDE” is a mature way of handling the topic…
/r/PurplePillDebate23/09/22 03:28 PM
0

There are two levels to this. There is how useful information on psychological biases are, and then there is how to deal with people who shame others on the bases of those biases. I made the remark that you could simply quip at dick shaming women instead of citing studies to them. You called this “immature,” yet apparently your quips are slut shaming men are hilarious. Yes, I used the word “shame” first, but pretending either one of those scenarios isn’t shaming is being willfully obtuse.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/09/22 03:22 PM

So it’s funny when you drop an “SDE” on an dude shaming women, but it’s immature if I drop a “loose pussy energy” on a woman shaming men? I think both are plenty amusing, but can’t help but notice the asymmetry in your standards.

Well it’s doing something, because we are talking about it right now, no? You can even find journalistic articles about it in around 2 seconds on google. It’s a little ridiculous to suggest that I, a random poster on Reddit, need to go on a personal crusade to educate the masses in order for any particular line of research to be useful or disseminated. But let’s go back to the question I asked earlier. Do you think studying all psychological biases is a waste of time? Or just this one?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/09/22 02:04 PM
2

It gives us insight into how we form our perceptions, how those perceptions might be biased or inaccurate, and how we might unfairly judge people’s personalities for superficial characteristics independent of said personality. Knowing that information both gives us insight into how we operate on a fundamental level as well as giving us an awareness of particular biases so we might try to consciously see past them.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/09/22 01:50 PM
2

The study doesn’t say “women think big dick is better.” It says “women perceive men with bigger dicks to have XYZ positive personality traits.” It’s no different than research shows a similar “halo effect” for attractiveness, where attractive people are perceived to be smarter, more moral, etc. Do you also consider that research a waste of time?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/09/22 01:45 PM

I’ll just leave this here. Another important mechanism is the impact of the promotion on the balance of household earnings, and how this impact shifts the division away from social norms. We find that divorce is more common in households in which the wife's promotion shifted the division of earnings (further) away from the norm of male dominance. Further supporting this interpretation is the fact that we found the lowest proportion of divorces of any sub-sample analysis for couples in which a ma…

As Yuk said, high protein and continuing to lift hard is most important. Something else you could consider, though, is adding in something like 24-36 hour fasting once per week and then eating at maintenance the other days instead of a standard daily caloric deficit. There’s some evidence it’s more muscle sparing than a constant caloric deficit.

Yea, it’s super subjective. You can even find scientific studies that try to measure it cross-culturally, and there is a lot of variation. It’s kind of funny, most men report not wanting a promiscuous woman, but the bar for that counts as “promiscuous” varies a lot.

I could see how this would play a role in muscle:fat distribution for consumed food, but that’s different than simply not being able to gain weight. Every well done nutrition trial I’ve seen that bothered to measure it finds weight gain falls perfectly within the confines s of “calories in, calories out.” There’s not much wiggle room for magic around the actual weight gain portion, which is the actual topic of OP’s post. Generally when people say they “eat whatever [they] want,” what they end ends up being eating like a pigeon and consuming a small amount of calories. They might also be super active and just burn everything off. I mean, while there is some variation in people’s basal metabolisms, it’s usually quite small. It’s unlikely to be a major contributor in people becoming incredibly fat or “unable” to gain weight. Something more than just “metabolism” is amiss if someone can’t simply eat more to compensate for a 10%ish increase in basal metabolic rate (which is only a fraction of …

/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/22 10:01 PM

But it seems like you risk making the same assumption that OP is explicitly calling out. That is, that personality and appearance correlate. When view holistically, would an average guy with an average personality not be in a similar league as a hot guy with a shit personality? The latter has a deficit in his personality, but is making up for it with appearance.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/22 09:38 PM
0

Wouldn’t it make the most sense that it’s middling women? The hottest women can pull the guys that have both good looks and a good personality. It’s the upper-average women who have to start thinking about tradeoffs, because they can’t just get the best. If you that with the fact these guys both likely cycle through relationships faster owing to their shit personality and men tend to date down for more, particularly short-term pairings, I suspect the number is a bit higher than you’re implying.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/22 09:11 PM
2

Sure, and I think that’s a fair distinction to make. But at the same time, I often thing (admittedly crudely phrase) comments to the tune of “women just go for hot assholes,” which I believe are generally aimed at the point I raised are often painted as claiming all hot men are assholes, when I don’t feel like that exactly what they are trying to get across.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/22 05:28 PM
5

You don’t really need to believe that literally all attractive men are assholes to believe that women would preferentially pick a hot asshole over an average looking “great guy.” There aren’t enough hot, “great guys” to go around, so a large number of women are going to be stuck in the dilemma between choosing a hot asshole or an average looking “great guy.” The question is typically about which decision these women tend to make.

Ngl, I’m pretty sure this is how a lot of “nice guy”/friendzone situations come about. Guy catches feelings for his female friend, but she has a bf. He’s a good guy and won’t blow up the relationship until she ends it voluntarily. But because women (especially young women) often monkey branch straight out of existing relationships, she ends up dating all of the guys that were willing to blow up her current relationship. The “nice guy” never made a move because there was never a real opportunity …

Yea, I know. It was just an example. Another element probably worth noting is I think a lot of people kind of just spew their own opinions under the umbrella of “red pill,” when, if posting their opinions in some of the proper TRP subs, would get dismissively told “sidebar.” For better or worse, the sidebar pretty nicely grounds TRP beliefs, at least to some extent, yet many people so-called red pill people here seem to not even know it exists, much less know what’s in it.

if a girl was a “slut” just for them they’d be over the moon I feel like this is kind of a word game, though. Being a “slut” is fundamentally about being promiscuous, not necessarily enjoying/having enthusiastic sex. While I’m sure there’s probably some correlation between liking sex and promiscuity, it’s a little funny to basically say “the men who care…

Copy pasting the dull DOI URL directly into a web browser takes you to the journal page. Yes, this is often paywalled because most journal articles are paywalled to some degree, especially if you’re trying to get direct access. If you post it into google scholar, you can often (but not always) find links freely available through academic institutions. Particular links often get added and removed over time, but maybe 50% of papers will have a functioning link here at any given point in time. If y…

you actually gave the correct link to begin with You completely overestimate people. I’ve also been accused of “not providing sources” because my links went dead. Like I said, for one, if you need a sci hub link, they break over time. I’ve had issues linking them in Reddit posts. Second, because one benefit of that link is that it zeroes in on the relevant passage. Typically, people can barely bothered to do more than glance at the paper (relevant?) much less correctly find a particular point that isn’t explicitly spelled out in the title or abstract.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/22 08:39 PM
1

That would require you to put in effort, though, which is far beyond OP’s capabilities. She’s got academic studies linked to her and can’t even put on the effort to distinguish them from journalistic studies in the first place.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/22 08:33 PM

You do realize that people linking studies don’t determine if it’s paywalled, right? It’s the publishing company. Why the fuck would you link a paywalled study Because the study was relevant to the discussion? Jfc.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/22 08:25 PM
1

It takes 2 seconds to find the rest of the source, and then benefit of that link is it zeroes in on the relevant section. The fact you’re struggling with technology doesn’t mean I’m being dishonest. And? I’d would say having casual sex is more promiscuous than not having casual sex, no?

“Sky high infidelity rates” You don’t have a credible source for this. So you didn’t even glance at my linked post with the sources in it? Got it. 👍 Also, people typically don’t offer commitment and invest in partners they have not throughly vetted. This is really not supported by current divorce rates. As others have said, low weight. I’d say you need at least a couple of weeks to let things get back to normal. Really until it gets better, though. My go-to is to start incorporating blood flow restriction/occlusion training. A decent amount of evidence suggests it can be about as good as standard weight training for muscle growth, so I use it as a stand-in. I’ve found you can use it in place of standard weight training for as much as 2 months with zero loss in strength.

I just love how we have actual studies on this as well, but it’s still a major point of contention. You can be mad that men care about a woman’s sexual past all you want, but the fact that they do really shouldn’t be controversial.

I think it’s reasonable for some men to accept a transactional relationship… knowingly. But I think we have to ask the question as to how often that happens vs how often the other person basically gets fooled into taking a deal they wouldn’t take otherwise. I really doubt most women are coming up to these guys they are settling for and telling them something like, “I still love my ex boyfriend in a way I’ll never love you. You really just aren’t that attractive, but you’re stable and I want kids…

Because most people lack willpower and fall back into old habits. I can simultaneously recognize that we need improved strategies for weight loss while also believing that most of the reason current strategies don’t work comes down to personal failures. Data suggests that if you lose weight and keep it off for a few years, you will typically stay lean. But most people can’t manage that.

/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/22 05:49 AM

I’m gonna disagree because you’re missing a key component: enthusiasm. While I think loyalty and fidelity are necessary conditions, they aren’t sufficient in my view. If my wife feels pretty lukewarm about me (or god forbid actively pines for someone else), I’m not really sure all the fidelity in the world will make me feel like that’s a good deal. But hey, if you’re satisfied with a more transactional relationship, more power to you.

Eh, I think it’s more nuanced than that. While I don’t think being an asshole in and of itself is all that attractive, I think starting to be an asshole can still be a net positive for a lot of men. Tons of men struggle with coming across as too meek, timid, or low confidence. If you can be asshole to a woman, you might come across as a lot of things, but timid won’t be one of them. The problem is, for a lot of women, being timid is an absolute death sentence, while being an asshole is tolerable…

Yea, I’m actually not sure of a good way either, unless you know either the user or the exact phrasing. I figured you might have seen one recently. I realized you just meant “hot bod” as in fit, not necessarily hot overall. I’ve seen some funny posts on that topic. I remember a guy talking about struggling with women despite how great of shape he was in, and when I asked, he basically gave me the stats of a holocaust survivor. Sorry, bud, marathon runner bod isn’t exactly sexy.

/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/22 04:37 AM
2

Exactly this. I don’t blame people for having fears or being cautious, but (phobias aside) I’ll certainly judge you a little if you have a horrible, disproportionate fear over some really unlikely problem while remaining entirely unconcerned about issues which are far more likely to actually harm you.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/22 04:19 AM
2

No. There’s nothing hypocritical about liking someone for a characteristic that you don’t have yourself, especially if you clearly bring enough else to the table that they are still interested in you. I feel like it’s really easy to see if you flip it around a bit. Let’s say a woman has the option to date two nearly identical guys, one of whom has abs and the other doesn’t. She doesn’t have abs herself. Is she a hypocrite if she chooses to date the one with abs?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/22 04:12 AM
2

Pretty much this, though I’d actually claim that it’s the men being desirable that often makes the women likable, not the inability to match with likable women as a category. But I totally agree. I’ve had periods in my life where I felt like I was more of an average, and periods where I was more of a so-called “high value” guy. Dating in the latter periods was fun, the former a bit less so.

Your dilemma is that the operative favor isn’t whether you are a similar mate value. It’s whether they think you’re a similar mate value. If someone has routinely dated people significantly better than you, even if just for short periods of time, what do you think the odds are that they actually think you’re the best they can do anyway?

Like how they’re haphazardly stabbing and staggering at the ball and one girl lays down and they always have to stop and stare down at the ball for 2 seconds before they kick it while somehow no defender presses them or tries to take the ball away during that time, they just sit and watch it happen. Then they cross it and it’s the first out of 50 haphazard crosses they’ve made all game y…

But most of them only want abortions in the 1st trimester. This is why I hate the black and white dichotomy on such a complex issue. Lefties really won the PR battle on that front. I’m “pro choice,” but I’d argue I probably have more in common with a pro-lifer than a hardcore pro-choicer who wants abortion up until birth.

Is this survivorship bias? Yes, or at least something like it. It’s easy to ignore all of the work that went on behind the scenes to make the magic happen. Or the marriages where people are desperately trying to keep up appearances but aren’t all that happy. If you only look at the small number of people who float through life and it “just works” for, then sure, it seems like you can do nothing and stuff just happens.

I’m not sure that would really explain it, though. Those are all people in their teens and early 20s, where men are still overwhelmingly not in relationships. Granted, pew’s granularity isn’t perfect, but it doesn’t seem like the issue really gets resolved until probably the mid-late 20s at the earliest.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/09/22 06:23 PM
2

That data isn’t marriages. It’s all relationships. I think they are generally catching women that are slightly younger as well, but usually only by a couple of years, on average. For the most part, those women would be in the same cohort with the guys who still can’t get dates while the women can.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/09/22 05:45 PM
5

Definitely. Also, those two categories aren’t mutually exclusive either. It’s not exactly rocket surgery to deduce “that guy serially cheats on women. I wouldn’t do that. I’m probably nicer than him.”
/r/PurplePillDebate08/09/22 05:39 PM
2

Most men (67%) want relationships in their 20s and 30s, but over half (51%) aren’t in one in their 20s. However, strangely, this isn’t true for women, and most women (68%) in their 20s are in relationships despite wanting them less than men (61%) in their 20s and 30s. Then, all of a sudden, most men (77%) end up in relationships in their 30s and 40s. These relationships had to come from somewhere, so presumably a large chunk (28%) of the men who were having a hard time getting in a relationship …

And you would be wrong about that. Just to give one example, half of the top 20% most promiscuous people have cheated on a partner. Less than 5% of the least promiscuous people have. Promiscuity and infidelity correlate quite strongly, and are even mediated by some of the same genes. That point aside, I think your argument about allowing female preferences but not male preferences is pretty spot on. Full PDF of first link.

I think what kills me the most is that promiscuous people are bad bets for relationships, period. Men and women. The smart move would be for women to start worrying about “n-count” as well, at least if they don’t like getting cheated on or left. But alas, many of them would rather turn a blind eye entirely.

Why should I have to go through the process of paying a lawyer for a second contract before the courts will consider something like infidelity in establishing child custody, for example? Seems unnecessarily complicated and expensive when it could just be built into the process itself. Should we start requiring additional contracts for anything to matter in court? Maybe we should also require prenups before we consider differences in income at all!

Beta “bux” also isn’t just about money. The “bux” part is primarily a catchy name, if a little inaccurate. It’s important not to confuse it with gold digging. If a woman dates a guy that she doesn’t find (that) attractive because he seems like a safe bet, he’s provides a lot of emotional support (which she doesn’t normally prioritize), or he makes good money, all of those can be beta “bux” as TRP uses the term. Aka virginity or lower N count. OP isn’t just talking about virgins here, though. She’s talking about less promiscuous women generally. While it doesn’t require being a virgin, less promiscuous people are typically a WAY better bet for long term relationship. As one example, half of the top 20% most promiscuous people have cheated on a long term partner whereas less then 5% of the least promiscuous 20% have. That seems like a relevant piece of information, religious or not.

I don’t think this really addresses the concern. Presumably the women on here saying as much are the hookup women, as they are indeed claiming to hook up. This would be true if women were actually sleeping with husband material fast. Which, sure, in a few cases they will. /r/PurplePillDebate24/08/22 08:00 AM
3

I never said anything about that. The initial comment you replied to was specifically about validation… It’s less about physicality, and more about inconvenience. That’s kind of splitting hairs, but I see your point. To tie the ideas together, few people will have the guts to continue to follow me around if I make it clear I don’t want them to, in part because I’m much more physically imposing than a typical woman.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/22 07:59 AM

Broadly speaking, people generally agree on who is attractive and who isn’t. It’s pretty intersubjective. While gay men are less picky than women, if they find you attractive, you’re almost certainly more attractive to women than if they don’t.

I’m not misunderstanding the point, simply using an exaggerated example. Nothing i have said so far suggests there is anything wrong with having preferences. It’s probably worth clarifying, I only questioned the “who,” not the “how” and “how much.” There’s a big difference between a cordial pass and aggressive harassing you. I don’t see why a “hey you’re cute, oh, sorry, you’re straight? Have a nice day,” should be anything but validating.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/22 06:58 AM

You’re absolutely free to have whatever preferences you want. If you think it’s best to never talk to another person again in you’re life, more power to you. I made the point about gay men because I assumed you were aiming at the idea that women don’t like men they aren’t interested in hitting on them. I suspect most men would have much less of an issue; I certainly do. Drunk or gay, I’m not sure it matters much. This point is somewhat striking in that not only do men actually like the validatio…

Female in-group bias (and male out-group bias) making women more likely to be accepted socially. Men comparatively have to earn their spot. That’s just one element, though. I’m sure plenty of other things like perhaps increased stigma of mental illness in men probably also play a role.

You understand the theory of red pill but don’t give enough of a fuck to put it into practice. Similar to how you can be blackpilled but still have sex.

The replication crisis is kinda beyond subfields. It even bleeds over into a lot of biology as well. It’s pretty applicable to most fields with weak statistical confidence (e.g. p values of ~0.95 instead of 6 sigma) and complex systems which are easily confounded. Either way, I’m not really defending the argument. Just pointing out that he isn’t foolishly posting some article he didn’t even read; there was a point.

His argument is that you’re justifying the use of therapy by appealing to the psychological literature, but the psychological literature is facing a replication crisis which calls those results into question. You’re rebuttal isn’t as strong as you seem to think.

Similarly, I woudn’t say that men dislike “sluts.” Ideally, they seem to like them for fucking, but not for much else. Accurate. Tbf, this tendency is partially mediated by each man’s own sociosexuality (unrestricted men tend to be the ones that find sluts attractive for hookups, which shouldn’t be that shocking), but on the whole, it’s silly when people harp on women’s dual mating strategy without so much as mentioning men’s.

Classic “using red pill to achieve blue pill goals,” I guess, lol. be in their lives. /r/PurplePillDebate02/08/22 09:11 PM

Well if you quickly check the Wikipedia article, women certainly also show a Coolidge effect, albeit to a much lesser degree. This suggests there is some preference for variety, but significantly less, which makes sense from an evolutionary perspective. Some mammals certainly go into heat, but that’s a behavior that varies significantly by species. We tend to be on the “doesn’t get a train run on them” end of the spectrum. You can see this, for example, in the fact that human males have much sma…

/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/22 09:00 PM

Oh, yea, there’s nothing enticing to men about variety. No shot we evolved for it or anything. Look, I agree insofar as if a man is actually pushing to fuck other girls he probably doesn’t see you as enough of a priority to value your feelings. But I worry you’re being overly dismissive of the fact men do generally want variety (even if we choose to forgo it to have a stable relationship). It’s how we are wired.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/22 08:59 PM

I could see that. I imagine having one’s boundaries violated makes them extra mindful of doing it to others. I think most women are going to be more sympathetic towards men who were sexually assaulted or raped since the chances are they themselves have likely gone through something similar. I think this is a tempting line of thought, but I’m not sure it actually pans out in reality. For example, one might think women are more understanding of men with anorexia as they are more prone to it (and o…

/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/22 07:58 PM

Okay? How does that conflict with anything I said? Whether or not it shows up on the first date is kind of beside the point either way. The baggage from being assaulted might not show up on the first date either. Doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/22 07:49 PM

Much if the time, no. Sometimes it’s just a medical/biological issue. See my example with Vitamin D in the follow-up comments. Similar concept for something like regular exercise or a good sleep schedule. It’s also worth considering that another major factor relates to depression is stress, but a lot of things we look at as constituting a “good” (dare I say chaddy?) life are also stress inducing. For example, a high performance job.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/22 07:46 PM

TIL being a virgin impact someone to the same extent as sexual assault. Serious answer, though, basically. You really think women are lining up to date dudes who are victims of sexual assault? Maybe I’m over-extrapolating, but my guess is women will be even less forgiving than men. We know for a fact they are when it comes to issues like mental illnesses.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/22 07:31 PM

Yea, I definitely think some people can be depressed because they have a shit life. I think what we think of as the clinical presentation of depression can be caused by having a shit situation rather than simply a chemical imbalance. That said, to beat my usual drum on the subject, vitamin D deficiencies are ridiculously common and can often cause depression. That was the cause of mine, and straightforward oral supplementation sorts me out with no problem.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/22 07:28 PM

Yea, but dude. Prostrate cancer has nothing on the super powers nofap gives you.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/22 07:22 PM

Most stats peg the number of people who will openly admit to cheating on a survey around 20%. That alone isn’t a majority, but I wouldn’t really put odds worse than Russian roulette at “not that many” if I’m making a high stakes commitment. But further, trusting that number implies we trust a bunch of dishonest people not to lie. We know many people don’t tell the truth on surveys on sensitive topics, and what’s more sensitive that admitting to being a huge piece of shit?

Majority of men and women won’t admit to cheating.*

Men who can be promiscuous are typically high tier men due to women’s pickiness, so there is a lot to recommend dating him even if you don’t like that he’s promiscuous. To top it off, most women don’t care that much; it might be on their list, but usually not that high. It can even be a positive if you consider preselection. Women who are promiscuous can be average as fuck due to men’s horniness, so there’s really nothing to particularly recommend dating them. Meanwhile, most men REALLY care if …

What would be an example of something you got “the ick” from as a teen? I ask because the distinction I’d draw is that “the ick” isn’t so much about a girl turning you down for something superficial, especially initially (though we could frame this as simply having no tokens to begin with). Rather, it’s about having someone you were already significantly attracted to, typically for a while, and (seemingly) instantly finding them repulsive.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/22 12:01 AM

Tbh, I don’t really agree with the idea that women will get “the ick” over one little thing. They get it, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not that simple. One of my favorite PPD concepts comes from an old user that proposed the idea of masculinity tokens. Basically, when you do masculine shit, you earn tokens you can “spend” on doing less masculine stuff without your girl seeing you as a pussy. Often, some of these things are really positive for relationships (eg doing something sweet for your girl…

Your objection is kind of like saying “I know smart men who struggle with their career because they only make 6 figures and aren’t billionaires.” Yea, I’m sure Ben Affleck “struggled” dating as a normal hot guy vs being giga famous and women literally throwing their panties at you. It’s all relative.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/22 01:56 PM

5-4.5-6-6.5 if we are just talking base attaction. Bump that up a point or two if we are factoring in that a huge chunk of people are fat.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/22 01:51 PM

Most people also don’t have mental issues, but here we are. But like I said, it also depends on the issue. Anxiety is technically a mental disorder, and that isn’t going to really impede a chad-lite vs a short, fat dude. We don’t have to be talking about models. People in day to day life obviously have big enough differences in attractiveness to make a big difference.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/22 01:46 PM

Depends on the severity of each. A super hot dude with minor social anxiety is going to do way better than a super ugly dude. But a normie dude with schizophrenia and severe autism will undoubtedly do worse than a somewhat below average man. Also, awkwardness and mental issues are kind of in totally separate leagues.

That was one of the first thing that came to my mind, yea. But even just IRL it tends to be conservative people who want to argue about an issue vs liberals morally shame you. What would be interesting is to see if that still holds in a crowd.

Because most people want commitment eventually. There might be a few outliers, but most people seem to want to settle into a stable LTR at some point. Indeed, most do at some point in life; historically almost everyone has gotten married at some point, and to my understanding the drop in marriage rates is more or less matched by a shift toward non-marital but long term cohabitation. The older women not dating (again, to my understanding) are typically older women who have already had an LTR with…
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 09:04 PM

Yes. But I’ve always been more of an LTR-oriented guy. I’ve tried casual sex, it’s fine, I guess. Mostly just shallow pleasure seeking. If I’m honest, it was mostly an unhealthy reaction to being cheated on. In general, I find meaningful relationships much more fulfilling, and I think everyone would be much better off if more people realized that instead of just chasing raw hedonism.

Sure, it’s men’s dual mating strategy. Sluts are attractive for STRs but unattractive for LTRs. But I feel the need to point out that this doesn’t really support your point at all. In what sense is saying “I won’t commit to sluts” complaining that women aren’t having casual sex with them? If anything, it’s the opposite; women are seen as low (relationship) value because they have sex with these guys. I see the same thing you mention here, I just don’t think it supports your conclusion.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 04:20 PM
18

At the end of the day, I see this as mostly a sort of market problem. The reason promiscuous women are vilified is because men nearly universally hate committing to promiscuous women, while for a huge chunk of women, a man’s chastity is quite low on their list of preferences. Men would care a lot more about being seen as promiscuous if women on the whole cared about it as much as men do. That’s the whole reason behind why slut shaming works on women but (generally) not men.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 04:17 PM

The number of people who are upset that women aren’t having casual sex full stop is quite small from what I’ve seen. The number of people who are upset that women have casual sex with some guys and then make others wait patiently on the other hand…

Absolutely. Philosophy is one of the highest IQ majors, up close to physics and astronomy iirc. That doesn’t change the fact that your average STEM major still also beats out the overwhelming majority of other majors, particularly the “harder” ones like math, physics, chemistry, and engineering.

I commented before OP added those in. I agree, I don’t see anything off in those two. I did google her to see what he was talking about, though, and she did have quite a few pics where she looked like a totally different person.

Well sure. We certainly type-cast both “stem” and “nerdy” guys as inherently socially awkward, even if that isn’t necessarily true.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/22 09:54 PM
1

Agree to disagree, I guess. I typically see people talking about how the guy is “lucky to have her,” especially if he was less successful when he was younger and most girls were primarily chasing hot guys instead of prioritizing stuff like the guy’s career potential.

/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/22 09:46 PM

I think that thing to notice is the “dating up” bit, though. Like very few people are going to say your average Becky is “dating down” if she lands sperglord Elon Musk because he just has THAT much status. So the fact we see it that way for the run of the mill STEM guy is pretty telling as to which person we consider more valuable. You’re right he’s clearly compensating for his deficits by being successful to an extent, but the fact we still see him as the lesser party is what is telling.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/22 09:39 PM
5

On the other hand, if you can’t accept the fact that your typical person in STEM is smarter than the typical person in most other majors, you’re revealing something about yourself as well.

/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/22 09:23 PM
4

Pretty accurate. As much as we like to talk about status and achievement, being pretty > high achieving on the dating market, at least until you become astronomically high achieving (eg multimillionaire or famous). As a result, we generally see smart, successful STEM guys as “dating up” if they have a pretty girl because subconsciously everyone agrees that her being attractive is more important than him being smart or successful.

Yep, totally agree with your synopsis. Frankly, I’m kind of impressed anyone is vilifying the idea that spending time with your partner should be a relief and not “work.” If the only way that you can imagine supporting your partner is by serving as a de facto therapist, I feel like that warrants some serious introspection.

Could be because when you live in a society that labels men as defective for struggling with women, getting a modicum of sympathy that it’s actually hard out here feels kind of nice. Mostly because your still not getting the whole “in every other case of bodily autonomy, it is not a crime” thing. It’s not that I don’t get it, it’s that it isn’t relevant. It assumes there is no relevant differences as compared other issues of bodily autonomy, which clearly isn’t the case. Why would we do that? A miscarriage from being attacked isn’t her fault. We don’t expect people to be impregnable defense forces. Imagine we are talking about a toddler. If someone breaks into my house, overpowers me, and shoots my child, nobody is going to say I’m neglecting my parents duties. However, it’s quite a different story if I’m the one that shot my own child. I certainly has an obligation not to do that, no?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/22 10:47 PM
1

That mother’s obligation doesn’t exist though. Otherwise we’d have to criminalize miscarriages as negligent. Well, only in cases where there actually is negligence, sure. So a spontaneous miscarriage would be fine because no one is actually blameworthy, but if a woman intentionally caused herself to miscarry then we would. Thing is, we kind of already do that. If I go punch a pregnant woman in the gut and force her to miscarry, I’ll get prosecuted for murder. Only difference is we would start ap…
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/22 09:52 PM

I’m not sure I follow. The problem isn’t necessarily the sex or pregnancy itself, as actually carrying the fetus to term (and obviously supporting it in other ways after birth) eliminates the issue. The parents forced the fetus/child to be dependent on them for a time, and they delivered on their obligations. So while unprotected sex increases the odds that of ends up in the situation, but as long as the parents actually care for the child, what’s the crime?

All in all, a vehicular manslaughter. Setting aside the fact that DUI deaths can often also be charged with murder, it seems we would agree that the action is a punishable crime. Therefore, would it not be reasonable to conclude that if a woman takes the risk of getting pregnant, thereby forcing the fetus to use her circulatory system, she is similarly blameworthy if a person (the fetus) dies as a result of her behavior? you seem to think a punishment is in order for the crime of gasp having con…

That’s a good point. Holy shit, that thread is amazing. I agree with you. I’ve long held the belief that almost nobody actually accepts abortion due to bodily autonomy. Usually when you press people on it, you get a bunch of indefensible gibberish and they eventually fall back on “but a fetus isn’t a person,” which is NOT an argument from bodily autonomy. Bodily autonomy arguments should work even if a fetus is a “person.” I’ve always assumed this was because the mainstream (feminist) narrative requires the issue to…

Both. The one I can recall from memory was something like women rate men ~1 point more attractive if they think he’s in a relationship. There are others measuring it different ways as well. I can try to find it again if you’re legitimately interested.

/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/22 03:30 PM

No it isn’t. You can get social proof without actually fucking the girls. Guys just typically do, hence why higher N men tend to be more attractive. But as Poppy is saying, it isn’t because they are high-n. It’s because they have social proof.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/07/22 03:27 PM

Do you actually have a link to someone claiming women like men BECAUSE of their high n? And high N specifically, not just interest from other women, which is definitely attractive. The claim I always see is always that women go for high-n dudes because men typically have to be fairly exceptional to get a high lay count, so women are willing to make the compromise. It’s not that they want it, they just don’t care compared to other features.

At most gyms, it’s really not that hard to use a fixed set of equipment for a routine and just jumble up the order. You can also use different lifts for the same muscle groups. Equipment availability isn’t even a consideration for me as it’s basically never a problem, and I go to a pretty high traffic gym. If you consider getting at a minimum 20% faster improvement and likely higher peak potential to be a waste of time the I guess that’s your prerogative. I figure if I’m going to spend thousands…

I’d run them on your shoulders/bis/tris day, personally. While it works some lower chest, triceps are by far the primary muscle group. I’d say it’s better to run a major compound lift when you’re as fresh as possible so it fits well on that day. In case it isn’t clear, I mean weighted dips with enough weight that you meet your standard rep ranges for other compounds like bench. And that’s awesome. I’ll look forward to the feedback. Hope it works well for you.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/07/22 03:20 AM
1

It could be okay depending on your training volume and goals. One potential thing to consider is you’re basically hitting bis and tris twice because they are working as accessories in your chest/back day as well. Obviously the downside is those lifts mostly won’t be compounds (please do dips if you do this split), and you de-emphasize your chest/back so your major lifts probably won’t improve as fast as they could. Evidence suggests that equal volume spread over multiple days vs one hard day is …

I think there are two extra layers to this that you’re leaving out. The first is the fact that often when men talk about what women want (here at least), they mean “what turns women on.” Hardly anyone gives a fuck about discussing what makes women “happy” in a cerebral sense, because that’s the easy part for most guys. The problem is, women seem to prefer very disagreeable men for hookups. This should tell us that women do, in fact, get turned on by men who come across as a bit of an asshole. Th…

If you’re under 70, your opinion on these issues is way too unriped to be conclusive. 40 year olds have literally half the experience. Imagine trying to draw conclusions from so little!

I generally agree with that take on STRs as a practice. I much prefer LTRs. However, I think STRs give us a lens into what women actually found arousing because unlike LTRs, they are pretty much only selecting for sexual chemistry.

For LTRs, absolutely. STRs? I dunno.

There are so many other factors that go into being sexually attracted to someone… and being nice isn’t one of them. FTFY You act like the idea that women aren’t attracted to guys for being nice is this obvious piece of information, but when people are going around saying “girls aren’t as superficial as boys, they want a nice guy with a good personality” or “the reason you’re struggling with women is your bad personality,” I’m really not sure why we are supposed to consider that an obvious conclu…

Then I suppose that’s where I think red pill gets it wrong, at least superficially. I think they agree more than they realize. It’s quite clear that a number of traits disfavored in STRs ultimately lead to better LTRs. Agreeableness is one example; women like to sleep with disagreeable men but settle down with agreeable men. Red pill will even tacitly acknowledges this when they say that women “beta bucks” dudes for emotional support. Tbf, I think for many such traits TRP is correct insofar as m…

I do think the stranger component probably makes some difference, but setting that aside, I guess I don’t appreciate the major difference aside from the fact you aren’t “supposed to” tell people they should smile more. If I’m dressing down because I’m just not feeling it today, someone saying “you should wear X clothes more often” is also saying “pretend you’re happy for me”in some sense. But for whatever rea…

Dude, 2.5 months is a long fucking time. I’d bet a lot that you’re a plan B, yea. When “something comes up,” does she enthusiastically suggest another date option or just flake? If it’s the latter, she’s not that into you. Especially after 4 times.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/22 11:01 PM

No. I think it’s a matter of managing boundaries to not put yourself into that situation. I don’t even trust myself, much less a partner. Enough attraction, drugs, and romantic trouble and anyone will do it eventually.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/22 10:55 PM

Obligatory “long distance relationships are imaginary relationships.” This is doubly true if you guys haven’t even slept together yet.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/22 10:12 PM

Well I still think believing in God is dumber than not. I just think there are also a lot of dumb atheists too. So maybe I’m still in it? One big change, though, is I used to think religion serves no purpose that you couldn’t otherwise solve secularly, but I don’t really think that anymore. I think there are some people who just need religion and can’t cope with a godless universe.

Well the first part is what I said, and the second part is addressing what chili said, given that your reply was “given what you and others have said.” Your claim is that these positions don’t entail certain policies, as best I can guess because I used the word “oppose” instead of “ban.” I’m saying that’s silly.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/22 07:33 PM

How is banning the use of hormone therapy in children not a policy? Same goes for stuff other people have said. Banning abortion, banning gay marriage, banning diversity quotas. Those are all concrete policies. This is some serious grasping at straws.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/22 07:28 PM

Baby trapping and false rape accusations are a bit different because those are serious ethical/legal violations Abuse is a serious ethical/legal violation as well. Cheating may not be legal anymore, but it is still ethical. At this point we are just haggling over price. I’m fine with holding women accountable for their poor judgments, we should just do the same for men dumb enough to get entangled with a crazy BPD chick. The point is about consistency.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/22 07:23 PM

Which addresses absolutely nothing I said. Emotional support is one of a few sufficient conditions for a woman to start a relationship with a man in the absence of significant attraction.

Saying that you oppose giving hormone therapy to children would probably be a starting point.

Well if we mean below average at all, about half of them are lol. But snarky comment aside, I’m addressing your point that “if you’re not attractive to one woman, you will be attractive to another.” Even if a completely average guy could get a girl, that statement can still be false once we consider below average guys. That’s the whole point.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/22 06:38 PM
2

We aren’t even really talking about regular looking guys, though. We are talking about really below average guys. Have a seen a girl have loud sex every night with her short, fat boyfriend? No, no I haven’t.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/22 06:33 PM

Because they make good providers (and emotional support). Full circle! Also, really short and overweight isn’t exactly “normie” in totality. That’s solidly below average.

One problem with this data is it’s estimates from GRE scores (because its easy). So it’s going to be estimates from the higher tier students who are at least looking at grad school. There’s an assumption of uniformity here which may very well not be true.

Because you are talking to different men and, shock of all shocks, they have different opinions. If you have developed such a taste for super hot guys to the point that it bothers you dating a normie guy, no, don’t lower your standards. You will both regret it.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/07/22 02:58 PM

Please be creative writing, please be creative writing… Straight up, though, this is what I mean when I say women settle for less attractive men. The idea that women “don’t date guys that they aren’t attracted to” doesn’t rebut the claim. She’s kind of attracted to him, but there is clearly a significant disparity compared to what she’s used to. And what they do have may be driven largely by novelty, which will eventually fade away into nothing.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/07/22 02:51 PM
2

There’s definitely a level of “A is better than B” but it’s way fuzzier than people make out. Totally agree, but I don’t think that impacts the concern much. I don’t think most people are that worried about minuscule differences when it comes to settling. It’s about a major disparity (ie being in different tiers) compared to past partners.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/07/22 02:22 PM
2

Lol, I’m obviously teasing, but I’m also driving at a point. I think the whole settling thing is driven partially by enforced monogamy forcing people into picking only one “food.” The reason we don’t have such a fierce competition and comparisons with food is we know we can get Indian today and Chinese tomorrow. You might not have a hard list in your head (though Ngl, I kinda to), but I have a feeling if someone was about to force you to only eat a single type of food for the rest of your life, …

I think his issue is one of perspective. It seems like he has this tendency to want to look at women as defective men. It’s almost like knowing how they work and what they are attracted to just ruins the magic because they are so different that he just can’t love them anymore. But I don’t think that has to be true. Dogs do annoying stuff too. They will eat their own poop, drink from the toilet, chew up the furniture. But we have an expectation that that’s just something that dogs do and love the…

I’d actually say it’s a little more accurate to say that they want a man that is better than other men, at least when it comes to physical traits. It’s his hierarchical rating among men which needs to be better than hers among women. And surely it’s obvious that being tall improves a man’s ranking in social/dominance hierarchies, no? I don’t think the average CEO being like 6’1” is a big ole’ coincidence.

/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/22 02:33 PM

Same. This is one of the subjects that I think TRP is off-base with. My favorite part is at least one of the studies showing women report not wanting a hot guy but then primarily chase hot guys also show that men claim they don’t like ambitious women, then chase ambitious women to some extent.

My whole criticism on this point is that the general lack of consensus should leave us very agnostic to the actual number, likely leaning on the higher …

Yea, bro. You’re fine. While height can certainly a factor, if you’re doing well, you clearly have enough other positive features to compensate. A cold streak could be anything. Only meeting height queens. Getting in your own head over a few rejections. Uranus is in retrograde and all the astrology chicks become celibate. Who the fuck knows? Don’t let it get to you.

There’s a second study linked in the article, dude. It references a number of other studies and again contains number ranging from ~40 to ~70%. But to reiterate, casual sex rates could be 0% and it wouldn’t matter for the argument.

Yep, pretty much this. I addressed it in my own comment, but LTRs that “aren’t that serious” and aimed at solely sexual chemistry are all you really need. It doesn’t have to actually be “really” casual.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/22 08:14 PM
3

Well there are a few layers to this. For starters, I didn’t specify only casual sex. The only thing my argument requires is that people (particularly women) have dated primarily for sexual chemistry at one point and changes their tune later on. This seems fairly obviously true imo. It’s quite common for people to have “long term” relationships that they know “aren’t going anywhere” or “aren’t that serious.” While these aren’t technically casual sex, they are aimed solely at sexual chemistry all …

I think this criticism is flawed on a couple of levels. First, you seem to assume that everyone is someone else’s “second best,” but this is far from obvious. If we generally agree that women are tending to sleep with higher tier guys, the obvious corollary is that men are tending to sleep with lower tier women. This makes it a lot more likely that a man is settling down with his “best,” while a woman is settling down with her second (or tenth) “best.” The other aspect is the way men vs women se…

I don’t think they consciously think like this, I think it’s more subconscious but nonetheless subversive. I absolutely think you’re right about the fact that the novelty of past hookups drives things, but if anything, that compounds the problem. If a “relationship” ends before all of the bad bits come to light, it risks having the comparison made to an idealized representation rather than the real thing. I think OP paints it a little black and white, but I think I there’s something to be said for dating someone very desirable and settling down with someone significantly less desirable (but not necessarily undesirable). We know a strong predictor of relationship failure is feeling like one could do better. Seems like having “had” better (if only for a night or two) puts you at a strong risk of resenting the less desirable person you end up with. It’s not about settling with totally repulsive men,…

No, but I think a lot more of what they do is for social/male approval than they like to pretend. For example, if women were wearing makeup “for themselves,” they would do it at home. But the overwhelming majority don’t. Same for men. We do more than we like to pretend. I’d bet a lot more guys would work chill, medium earning jobs and have no interest in pushing to higher earning management positions if they were just staying single. I know I would.

Realize that all you really missed was a little bit of exercise with a sticky ending with a particularly attractive person. If you value your relationship with your girlfriend, surely it’s worth so much more than that, no?

Yea, it’s one of those funny illustration of how entitled women can be in their confrontations with men. They just assume nothing bad could possibly happen. A man her size would NEVER talk to me like that.

I think my favorite similar story was when I was at a restaurant with some friends of mine. We were standing in a kind of narrow corridor waiting to be seated, and this woman is walking out. We all scoot over to leave an opening for her, but to avoid grinding all over my friend, I scoot over such that she would have to very slightly move to the right to avoid hitting me. Obviously she doesn’t adjust at all and barely brushes shoulders with me. She turns around and Karens all over me, shouting “h…

Then in disagreeing, you rebut OP’s entire point. He’s relying on the idea that this is apparently an accepted truth about how women operate, but that the consequences of accepting it are concerning. Though maybe he just hasn’t gotten to you yet.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/07/22 09:17 PM

Well i left mine generally for a reason (saying socially positive trait), because it literally doesn’t matter what the trait is. Any trait anyone could conceivably construe as making someone a “good man,” whether that be being kind, caring for society, loving your family, or playing with puppies. It could come down to each individual woman’s concept of “virtue.” OP’s entire promise is that people on here supposedly now broadly agree that this isn’t something women prioritize over looks; she will…

Honestly, while I think he articulates his points fairly well, I actually think his premise is fundamentally flawed. He seems to suggest that what happens is the women are avoiding this conclusion about needing social change. Instead, I think the conclusion women are trying to avoid is simply “women care about [superficial trait] more than [socially positive trait] (eg virtue).” It’s comes down to basic impression management and maintaining the facade that women are chasing primarily good men. H…

You make a good point on poems, I do technically know more women who have written poetry than men, though that number is incredibly small (and actually wasn’t really people I would consider particularly smart, incidentally). The difference I see in instruments is most girls I know who “play” instrument learned it as a kid and don’t really do it anymore. The guys are super passionate and practice very regularly. Perhaps not the best example. I could try to dig up a source, but I actually saw a su…

You can get a tan while using something like SPF 30 sunscreen, easy. I’m also perhaps relating it back to OP more than you intended. He was saying he tans too fast, which is really a good thing as far as sun damage is concerned. SPF 2-4 is only a “base tan” on a white person to my knowledge. Other ethnicities and darker tans can get much higher. To be clear, I also only mean incidentally getting a tan, not actually going out and tanning. That’s dumb as fuck.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/07/22 07:53 PM
1

Tanning isn’t directly about sun damage, though. It’s about melanin production which, while stimulated by the sun, varies significantly between people. People who don’t tan well tend to have a much higher risk of sun damage for that reason.

Sometimes they get baited by the “I don’t want to jeopardize our friendship” card and feel like if they give themself some space then they are a bad person. They kind of get stuck in a catch 22. If they pull back, they were a bad friend and were “obviously” only there for the sex. I’d they stick around, they are just a spineless orbiter who can’t let go, and it becomes a lot harder to break the emotional connection to move on to someone else, perpetuating their attachment to the girl.

Interest in philosophy, history, religion, politics. Taking up creative pursuits like writing a book, inventing or designing something/becoming an entrepreneur, learning/playing an instrument. You name it. Almost all smart men I know have an interest in at least a few of the topics above. But I’ve known and dated quite a lot of smart women, and it’s almost shocking how quite often the only subject that they will reliably express interest in is politics, but exclusively with respect to feminism o…

women’s hobbies are sleeping and watching Netflix. What exactly do you call this? Basically everyone would agree that a dude who only sleeps and plays call of duty is boring.

Yep, I totally agree. The whole “we” beat “you guys” culture around sports is super cringe imo. Though I will offer the hot take that I think, on balance, there are more boring women than men. For instance, ime smart women are a lot more likely to still have zero interests in intellectual pursuits (outside of work) than men.

I think to get no relationship at all, he’s have to be broke as fuck. Even a stable job as something like a garbage man or construction worker is enough to get an LTR with a lower class woman. It’s more a matter of limiting his options unless he’s seriously broke, to the point it probably suggests a more general dysfunction. Sure, if he wants higher class or smarter woman it could sting a bit. But I think given the option of getting an LTR with a lower class woman who is really into me vs having…

He would get a lot of women willing to sleep with him but would struggle to get (or at least maintain) a stable LTR. Aiming at lower class women would probably help, but it would probably still depend on just how broke he was.

Keeps things interesting. If I was going to give a more serious response, I’d point out that men are basically just asking that their level of interest in the average woman be reciprocated for the average man. Female pickiness aside, it doesn’t seem that unreasonable on its face. Women unfortunately just don’t work like that.

Yes. As much as I’ll deal with women’s games if I have to, I strongly prefer not to play them. I’m not a mind reader. Just use your words like an adult. It’s also incredibly hard to hurt my feelings, so there isn’t a much of a downside to bluntness.

Depends what you mean. Lowercase f feminist? Identifies as a feminist for “equality,” and holds all the same pro-female opinions that basically all women hold? Sure. Capital F Feminist? Blames everything on men and patriarchy? Not a chance.

/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/22 06:15 PM

I agree with both points. But they that still don’t necessarily mean personality is a primary selection criterion. All I’m saying is “just be great in all the other ways first and then personality matters,” can be misleading.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/22 06:03 PM
2

Sure, but the typical question is how much is it fair to say that personality “matters” when looks (or other factors) encapsulate most of the predictive power. It might be like saying “personality matters for being a CEO, you just have to meet all of the other requirements first. You have to be able to get along with people, after all!” Like sure, it probably helps a bit. But it would be a waste of time to tell people to work in their personality if they wanted to be a CEO.

Women are attracted to their looksmatch all the time. I probably should have been more clear. Women go for same or better, just not lower. That’s the discrepancy; men will absolutely aim lower. Looksmatch is still the same. Point applies to women treating their average husbands like kings too.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/22 05:27 PM
3

Jesus, what’s with these false binaries. Lusting over women hotter than you =/= only being attracted to women hotter than you. Just because they’re open to using women they don’t find that attractive as cum rags doesn’t mean they wouldn’t give better treatment to then women they find most attractive. If we set aside the hyperbole, I broadly agree with this part. But I don’t see why denying it is necessary for the argument. Just because a lot of men would fall over themselves for a bombshell does…
/r/PurplePillDebate07/07/22 05:17 PM

But the point is that women want dudes that are better than they are. Men don’t need that. Having any standards at all =/= requiring a woman better than you.

Not ugly women, but I’d absolutely fuck 100 totally average women.
